Author Christy Reece's debut novel kept me turning the pages when I ought to have been sleeping. I don't get a lot of time to read, so when I do I feel terribly disappointed if the book isn't enjoyable. I prefer a bit of grit with my romance, and this book delivers that quite well. It involves a topic that's near and dear to my heart — human trafficking.

For me to really love a book, I have to feel the characters’ emotions shining through. I also have to find the plot believable. I definitely fou
I'm not in the mood to write a full review, so I'll just go straight to the point...

I enjoyed this read: Ms. Reece's writing was good, the premise and the setup for the series were engaging, Noah McCall was a very interesting secondary character - why do I always fall for the manipulative and seemingly coldhearted bastard? - and the villains had a twisted ethic code that saved them from being jut slimy, one-dimensional characters. So why "only" 4 stars? Well, that was basically Jordan's and Devo

Major conflicts were based on lies, inaccurate assumptions, and stupidity. This does not make an entertaining plot.

Devon lives with her evil mother and good stepfather Henry. Henry’s godson is Jordan who visits occasionally and knows the mother is evil. Devon goes to boarding school and hasn’t seen Jordan for several years. When she does see him (she is now 21) he doesn’t recognize her. She doesn’t tell him her name, and they have sex. The mother tells lies to Jordan which he believe

4.5 stars. What a great romantic suspense story. Loved the romance, the pacing, the writing style...etc. Steamy tension, hot sex scenes, two fantastic leads, great secondary characters -- overall, a refreshingly good romance. There were some weak points, and fans who like a strong suspense storyline may be dissapointed as it was on the predictable side. But since I am not big on the suspense part, it works for me. Will absolutely read more by this author.

I've had this series on my shelf for over two years. Now that I've started it, I could kick myself for having waited so long!!

The set up
Following an ill-fated encounter with Jordan Montgomery and a subsequent vicious attack, Eden St. Claire has completely reinvented herself seven years later. She's now a skilled operative for Last Chance Rescue (LCR), a covert organization specializing in rescuing victims when all other avenues are exhausted. Eden is nothing like the woman from her past but when

Yow. I'm not sure whether I'm thrilled or just exhausted after reading "Rescue Me" by Christy Reece. This story is romantic suspense with all the action and tortured lead characters anybody could ask for. It's also a story that's almost impossible to put down once started.

Eden is a woman who prefers to forget her painful past...except for the stamina and grit it gave her to be the woman she is today. Eden rescues the weak and helpless. She works for LCR, Last Chance Rescue; a shadowy private or

WOW!! This was a really good romantic suspense book. My first from Christy Reece. I had read some good reviews on this series, and decided to give it a go.
The suspense part of the story involves human trafficking, selling anyone from babies to teenage girls to young women. And there’s plenty of action when it comes to hunting down the bad guys.

Devon has been in love with Jordan all her life, dreaming of marrying him since she was thirteen. Eight years later, her dream of love finally comes true, but a terrible lie almost destroys her life.

Seven years later, Devon exists no more. She’s resurfaced from the terrible tragedy of that long ago night a new woman, with a new face, new body, and a new name. But unfortunately, the past can never be buried for long and hers comes back with a vengeance when Jordan, needing closure, contacts her b

Like most people here, I’m always on the lookout for good books. Romantic Suspense seems to be one of the genres where my TBR list grows slowly – and the one most likely to be hit or miss for me. I have no idea how Rescue Me even came to be on my TBR, but I am so grateful that it was, because this one was most definitely a hit.

Rescue Me really delivers, finding that elusive balance of just the right amounts of romance and suspense, with both being satisfying to the reader. This is h
Wow! This one "had me at hello" if you know what I mean. It was fast paced, featured amazing characters, contained edge of your seat suspense, and the romance was awesome as well. I am very picky about romantic suspense because so few do it well. Pamela Clare and Cindy Gerard are my favorites, but I think I can safely add Christy Reese into that elite group!

One of the best parts of this book was that the leads in this story have a past. They knew each other as they were growing up. Devon has lov
This is my first Christ Reece book and I'm definitely coming back for seconds.

Eden St. Claire has remade herself after a horrific night where she was humiliated by a man she loved, betrayed by her vile mother, and brutally attacked by strangers beyond recognition. Her transformation didn't occur overnight but took over the course of 7 years, thanks to Noah McCall who saw to it that she would recover. He not only gave her a new life but also gave her purpose as one of the operatives in his compa

Anyone is who is a fan of Pamela Clare will absolutely love this book/series! I have been trying to find a series similar to Pamela Clare's I-Team books. If anyone has read Pamela, then they will agree that she is in a league of her own. When it comes to Romantic-Suspense, boy oh boy can Pamela write! After I had finished her series, I read a few other romantic-suspense books, but they didn't compare to her until I read this book, Rescue Me. Pamela Clare now has a pretty tough competiti

Wow! What an incredibly intense and emotional book.

Eden St.Claire is a field agent for the LCR agency. Her talent is creating the deepest, most detailed cover, her body is beautiful but also a deadly weapon.

Jordan Montgomery has worked on secret government operations but wants to get out after a last stint in Paris. While in Paris, he plans to give his search for a long lost friend a last try.
When the two first meet there is an instant attraction but what is Eden hiding? And can Jordan actually

Following a devastating assault, Eden St. Claire has remade herself into a strong, independent and kickass covert operative for Last Chance Rescue, an organization that specializes in locating missing people. As the two work together to stop a vicious ring of human traffickers, Eden will have to decide whethe
This book left me feeling angry and disappointed. The whole time I was reading this book, I was reminded of a bad spin off to Alias.
For people who were supposed to be trained operatives, the characters acted like idiots. These characters were supposed to be good at reading emotions, something that would make them good at their jobs, but after reading the book I fail to see how they could read an emotion as noticeable as sadness or happiness. The characters truly were unbelievable. T
Excellent! A fantastic series. A new author for me and a great find. Equal parts of really good suspense and a steamy romance. The story is a fast paced page turner and difficult to put down. Both likeable and strong male and female leads (and thank gawd no whiney heroines). The kidnapping/rescue storyline is a nice change from the usual plot. These books are intelligent, sharp and very worthwhile reading. Christy Reece can’t wait for your next books.
It was a wonderful intense dark read, the suspense plot and action along with romance everything was in right balance, loved this book

Devon is one woman who has a spine of a steel, she is a determined strong courageous brave woman, she suffered so much and she was shattered totally but she stood again and became a more stronger person gave her life to save other people's life and bring justice to people who were wronged, but when it came to Jordan she was weak,i wanted Devon to make Jordan work harde

Overall, Rescue Me: A Novel was an enjoyable read with a plot that moves quickly. I found the characters interesting. Eden/Devon had to overcome an incredibly traumatic past to become a highly efficient, skilled, competent agent at an agency that rescues kidnap victims. After deliberately feature altering plastic surgeries for the injuries she suffered, Devon had assumed the entirely new identity of Eden. That sounds pretty hokey but the author did a good job of making this plot device believabl ...more
I'd heard this series/author mentioned here and there and thought the series sounded interesting, but given that I had so many books to read and not as much time to read as I used to, I figured I'd pass on it. But then I found 2 of the books used and snagged the other 4 available at Borders's going-out-of-business sale. And since I was in the mood for some series-oriented romantic suspense, I thought I'd give this series a go. I'm glad I did. This is the kind of romantic suspense I enjoy, unlike ...more
First off let me just say that I loved this book. For me, it was one of those few were when I'm not reading it I'm thinking about the characters, whishing that I didn't have to do whatever it was that was keeping me from reading Jorden is a complete alpha-male, though I wouldn't say quite like Anne Stuarts anti-hero's. He's strong, confident, fighting to put the baddies away, ohh yeah, and sexy as hell.LOL Unfortunatly he's human and thus makes a few mistakes, but he's man enough to admit ...more

I enjoyed reading this book. It's not as light-hearted as what I've been reading the past week, but it's a pretty good angst/love story.

The last few chapters are absurd, however, for the TSTL, knee-jerk actions of the protagonists, and that was annoying. It seemed like neither had learned a thing in all the drama of their lives. Rather immature behavior, as well as extremely hurtful. And could have been solved by a couple of questions and even moderately cool heads.

Still, I was rooting for the
3.5* I enjoyed this book, yet it lacked something that I can't quite put my finger on. It might be that I never warmed to the Devon/Eden character, or that everyone in the book was a little too...something: too beautiful/handsome, too talented, too good, too evil, too angst-ridden. The books feels more like the writing style of a series romance. Which is fine, just not quite what I expected. At the same time, I liked the suspense plot, and the relationship story was decent. I'll definitely read ...more
I wanted to like this book so much more than I actually did. I just found the relationship between Jordan and Eden to be so volatile, full of lies and doubt, and it didn't strike me as even slightly romantic until the very end. It was hard to read for me, maybe because Eden was soooo damaged. I like where the book ended up, and I like the two characters introduced for the next book. I will definitely continue with the series and hope that their relationship is a little more appealing than this o ...more

For a book that I picked up at Borders on a whim thinking it would be okay, this was really good. I'm eager to get hold of the next two in the series and hope they are just as good!
What an amazing debut from Christy Reece! Tight writing skills keep this fast-paced book galloping along its well-thoughout plot. Character development is deftly done and background is provided just sufficiently enough to not break stride. As I have recently read several books along this "Rescue" theme, I felt like I had perhaps already read something similar but I quickly become so engaged with Devon and Jordan and Eden and Noah that I forgot to watch for similarities and simply let the story c ...more

The first book in the Last Chance Rescue series by Christy Reece. Eden St. Claire, aka Devon Winters, is an operative for the Last Chance Rescue (LCR Enterprises. Jordan Montgomery goes to LCR to get help looking for a woman that disappeared years ago. What a surprise to find her there.

Loved it. Bit of an emotional roller coaster at times. Great blend of romance and suspense.

Growing up in a tiny community in Alabama boasting only one stop sign and a gas station gave Christy ample opportunity to create daring adventures in her head. When she wasn't thinking of her story characters, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys kept her entertained and out of trouble. Later came the chills of Stephen King and the thrills of John Grisham, but the romance genre always held a strong place ...more
