Do you know that feeling when you pick up a new book and you read the first page and you get goosebumps all over because this is better than you thought it might be? And then you read the whole book and you're NOT disappointed? It's an all-too rare feeling, but that's definitely the case with me and this book.

After reading some comics where the Inhumans appeared mostly in the background, and especially after seeing some posts on tumblr, I decided to give this book a try. And boy, am I More...

I had high hopes for this series because of all the positive reviews, and it met them all. Jae Lee's art is beautiful, as usual, especially with the more bizarrely shaped characters, and I love the way he puts so much emotion into Lockjaw's face. Lee keeps things visually moody and atmospheric in a perfect complement to the written story Jenkins tells. The simple story is that humans attack the protected city of Attilan, and nasty things go on during the siege. It could have been efficiently tol More...

It's really a fantastic tale about politics and betrayal. Family and trust. Tradition and modernity. Love and loneliness. It's a story that might have been an issue or two too long, but it kind of builds suspense in the same way the characters experience it. I have never cared about the Inhumans before, apart from a cool issue of Dazzler where she absorbs Blackbolt's sound to be able to stop Absorbing Man. But that was just "cool". This book made me interested enough in these people to More...

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's race of genetically enhanced super human Fantastic Four supporting characters get a deeply weird and psychological makeover. In their Atlantean society, the adulthood passage of all Inhumans is to pass into the Terregensis mists, leaving transformed into a singularly unique, powered new being; a society of absolute individuals. The Inhuman king Blackbolt, cursed by his powers never to utter a word, is examined by his fellow royal family members as his insane brother Max More...

This is a brilliant re-imagining of one of Marvel's wilder concepts. Paul Jenkins has managed to take an inherently silly concept, and infuse it with a sense of gravitas and seriousness, while never managing to make it feel oppressively stuffy or somber. Jae Lee's moody artwork is just the icing on the cake, making the story come alive in a way that no other artist would be able to accomplish. Overall, this is a great book, and it's a damn shame that it's not more readily available.

A good read, let's the art do the talking as a certain subset of comics rightly should, but in this instance, Avalon Studios, the colorists, should get the majority of credit for making this book so damn good looking. Jae Lee's no punk, but Paul Jenkins puts together a good storyline, but the tone is set by Avalon.

It takes a few issues to really get going and introduce you to the world, perhaps more than most series would. Once the shit hits the fan though it does get pretty exciting and it approaches the action in a very unique way, from more of a political bent. It turns out to be really quite good.

Well thought out, avoiding many of the cliches of comics where the hero talks peace but has to resort to strength of arms to solve every problem.

I'll be re-reading this soon I think!

Interesting story with nice art. Wasn't the greatest story I've read but a descent take at reinventing lesser known characters.

I think this was cutting edge hero comics for adults stuff at some point. Now it's boring and trying to hard to be visually moody.
