My response to this one is mixed and has varied based on what kind of reading experience I was looking for when I read it. As stories, I didn't find the ten pieces individually or collectively compelling reading. I do echo, however, Sherrie Flick's words in her introduction: "...fun and interesting and unexpected." I'd add quirky, but they are more than that, all ten are original and creative experiments with fiction, both in expectation and in form. When I read not for story but for l More...

Brilliant, irreverent, hilarious, captures so many different moods that you want to go back and read more than just a few times. Sean is a master of the art of compressed emotion, scaled back circumstances, twists that makes the reader sprinting to catch up. A fantastic read!

Spot on. Some of the best flash pieces I have ever read. I love Lovelace's use of metaphors and objects. So stranger but enchanting.

This was very nice; smooth, breezy and lightly whimsical Lovelace's voice convey's the complete assurance of a master craftsman. I agree with another reviewer about the standout story being "I Love Bocce".

The first story alone is worth buying this book. What intricacies! What an ending.

Make an omelet, peoples! This book be like at least a stumbling Kelly Clarkson.

Maybe.

You could use it as a doorstop if you had a paper door.

Or an anchor if you were sailing and only wanted a temporary, ineffective anchor.

Like that,

Sean Lovelace, wow. What a collection of flash fiction. It's a really quick read but you will want to read it again and again and again. That's what happens when flash is done well. And he does it better than well. I may change my rating from 4 stars to 5.
