Queen Vernita is the active and outgoing leader of the Land of Quails with the Blue Ice Mountains. Queen Vernita enjoys spending time with children and invites 12 guests. Each guest stays for a full month and Queen Vernita takes the child to explore and learn about a different part of the world. While describing the adventures for the month, the book teaches children about the days in each month and the concept of the leap year.

Here's a summary of the things that Queen Vernita covers in the 12 v...more

Queen Vernita Visits the Blue Ice Mountains by Dawn Menge is the follow up book to Queen Vernita's Visitors. From reviews I've read of the first book has the same narrative style as the second: being a combination of the months of the year, with each month having a new visitor and new appropriately themed activities.

In Queen Vernita Visits the Blue Ice Mountains, the queen goes to the snowy north, to a fictional equivalent to Alaska where she hosts twelve different guests over the course of the...more

This was an absolutely fabulous book. It was 36 pages of beautiful and bright pictures. Queen Vernita decides to visit the Blue Ice Mountains. She sends out invitations to twelve of her friends. Each month her friend arrives and they do something special together. The reader learns through this book how many days are in each month. They also learn the days of the week as that is a repeated part of this book. I think the thing I really enjoyed is they way they are taught about things such as seal...more

Blue Ice Mountains in the Land of Quails is the second book in the Queen Vernita series. I love the author's creativity and imagination, which she used to carefully weave an educational component into the story. The facts presented on each page are well-researched. Parents and teachers can feel confident that children are learning accurate things about nature and science while also learning days of the week and months of the year. But it's not all educational. The author, Dawn Menge, uses lovabl...more

This is a simple book packed full of facts and colorful illustrations for kids learning about the days of the week, and months of the year. It is a cute read but the author might have included just a little bit too much facts in each page, which could possibly confuse or bore young children. However, overall the book is a great way to learn lots of information about animals, plants and various other things that are mentioned in the story.

Queen Vernita sent out 12 invitations for her friends to visit the Blue Ice Mountains in the Land of Quails. During the 12 months they learned about crabs, sea otters, tide water glaciers, plants, whales, bald eagles and more. Another great read for my boys to learn so much about the different animals, plants etc. They always want to learn more.
