This is a light-hearted exploration of the author's relationship to Mozart's music in his life. An interesting but not essential read, it does however include a CD with a sort of Mozart's Best Of for those that wish to skim over the profond depths of this monumental composer.

The book comes with a CD, and it's necessary to listen to it while reading this book. The majority of the book is Éric-Emmanuel talking about Mozart pieces in specific ages in his life, and all of them have a reason to be. He describes the pieces in every aspect and gives them the emotional intensity that I though were lacking in Mozart's compositions. Turns out I was wrong, this book is full of sincerity, emotions, joy being the centerpiece. As he says, listening to Mozart is living surrounded ...more

I don't know how to describe it... a series of letters from the author to Mozart, telling him how his music echoed in his own life. When I say it like that, it sounds pompous, but it's not. It's charming - more like an impressionist painting than anything. I enjoyed it.

This is no doubt one of my favourite books! It's the kind of book that I know I will pick up again and re-read when I feel down. It comes with a CD, and you have to listen to it whilst reading the book, because that's a really big part of the wonderful experience.

I am torn between giving this two or three stars. I know barely nothing about classical music and Mozart and I definitely wouldn't have bought this book myself and wouldn't have read it if it wasn't so short. I enjoyed the first few letters but after that, I didn't really care, to be honest.

I loved it! It's so full of poetry and the idea of accompanying the book with a CD with Mozart excerpts was just great!

Short, emotional, too melodramatic from my taste, but, then again, it was very accurate concerning the influence Mozart's music may have on someone's psyche. I did like it.
