54pgs (half of them illustrations)

Set in ~1805 Edgehill, Virginia. 9 year old Ellen "Ellen Aroon" tells the reader about her beloved Grand Papa (Thomas Jefferson). Ellen tells the reader all about Grand Papa's interests, the letters that he writes her, and her family. Through the story, the reader learns about some of the events going on around that time (The Lewis and Clark Expedition etc)

I would recommend this story to readers who enjoy The American Girl series. A sweet quick read.

Interesting children's book about Thomas Jefferson and his favorite granddaughter Ellen Wayles Randolph, told from 9-year-old Ellen's point-of-view, and including parts of letters from Jefferson to Ellen and other family members.
