(1964) People have stopped having children and now the youngest person on Earth is in his mid fifties (the main character). In his quest for meaning he must fight complacency as well as bumbling old people.

suspiciously close to Children of Men. Aldiss is undersung. A genuinely good writer. Magnificent scope and reach.
