The authors here concentrate on a particular prescribed short-term diet that focuses on getting rid of organ fat that is commonly located in the belly. In addition to describing the diet in some detail, they spend a good portion of the book reviewing and summarizing dietary principles covered in two other books they authored, Protein Power: The High-Protein/Low-Carbohydrate Way to Lose Weight, Feel Fit, and Boost Your Health--in Just Weeks! and The Protein Power Lifeplan.
This book is one of the many about losing weight on a high protein diet. Though weight loss is achieved under such a plan, health is compromised. I read this book for a better understanding of the concepts behind a high protein diet, and the book was good for that. Other books, like "The China Study" by Colin Campbell, and "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman describe the long term detrimental affects of a high protein diet that this book does not address. I love the Eades' and will recommend this book to my clients that need this kind of approach. If you want more info on why these types of low-carb, moderate fat (including saturated fat) and moderate protein diets work, you are better off reading their other books: Protein Power and Protein Power Life Plan.
A little too prescriptive- but for six weeks and apparently sound science... probably worth a shot.
