Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters #1)
by
Cherise Sinclair (Goodreads Author)
When Rebecca's boyfriend talks her into vacationing at a mountain lodge with his swing club, she quickly learns she's not cut out for playing musical beds. Now she has nowhere to sleep. Logan, the lodge owner, finds her freezing on the porch. After hauling her inside, he warms her in his own bed, and there the experienced Dom discovers that Rebecca might not be a swinger..

HOLY HOTNESS. MY FIRST CHERISE SINCLAIR BOOK DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Logan:

Master of the Mountain is my first venture into a Cherise Sinclair book and it left me smacking myself upside the head and wondering why I have not read her books before. What a great BDSM escape fully equipped with a tortured, alpha dom who is more than willing to show our lovely sub the ropes.
In the past, she'd occasionally stuck out as the only sober one in a drunken crowd; this time, she was the only frigid one in a horny...more

You know, Cherise Sinclair does such an amazing job of giving us characters who we care about and believable storylines despite the shorter page count. I’ve found this to be true in every one of her books that I’ve read, and Master of the Mountain is no different.
Rebecca is such a sweet young woman and I just ache for her and her poor self image because she’s on the plumper side, and has scars on her legs. She’s embarrassed by her body to point of wanting the lights dimmed when having sex, even...more

The book description gives more than a good insight of the story - in fact, it tells the whole story! - so I won't bother writing a plot summary here. I'll just say that the premise was interesting, but I didn't like the way the story unfolded.
Rebecca was too hesitant and insecure - so much that I didn't know if she still considered Matt her boyfriend or not when she had sex with Logan. Before anyone shouts "Cheater!" at her, let me explain that Matt and Rebecca had an open relationsh...more

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. From the first page to the last, Master of the Mountain captured my attention, my imagination, and my heart. I feel Cherise Sinclair did a wonderful job portraying the basic and complex components in the relationship between the Dominate and the Submissive. That she incorporated romance into this light BDSM story made it that much better.

In the time it takes you to say BDSM, I already finished this book.
If you are looking for an erotica romance author who delivers each and every time you open a book, then Cherise Sinclair is your girl. While the Masters of the Shadowlands may be my favourite series by her, this series Mountain Masters is another great BDSM escape for readers.

Hot & Kinky!
I've often heard that Cherise Sinclair is a Master at writing BDSM stories, so when Master of the Mountain came up as a book club selection, I jumped at the chance to read something from this new-to-me author.
Rebecca and Matt might be compatible intellectually, but physically they are not. We learn this right away when Matt reveals to Rebecca that he has been a part of a swingers group. He asks Rebecca to join him in the next get-together. Rebecca reluct...more

Really great BDSM story, Logan was a great alpha male & Rebecca was a lot more "real" than most female h's.
Although I really wanted to punch Matt in the face & thought Rebecca was an idiot for staying with him!
I always love a book where the POV's switch between H & h and it was never confusing as to whose head you were in.
Thanks to Bookie for recommending :)

Master of the Mountain sounds ...ominous. Yet, this Master, Logan Hunt, rather apropos, wasn't too dark, too overbearing or excessively Dominant. Instead, he stealthily wrapped "lush", round-bellied, deceptively submissive Rebecca into his care, which meant he earned her trust, gave her steady praise and loved her just the way she is, scars, phobias, inhibitions and all.
THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT! Because Rebecca sure needed it. Upon meeting Rebecca, girlfriend was faking orgasms and think...more

Absolutely LOVE reading every word written by Cherise Sinclair!!:-P I trust the journey, and am warmly satisfied when I arrive.
Logan, the mountain man, a traumatized veteran, meets Rebecca....a soft curvy robust woman, who feels inadequate.....ugly...to men. Rebecca...Becca. Her relationship with a boyfriend, Matt, left her empty, unattractive, and frustrated. When they were done having sex..."She sure couldn't tell him she faked a good half her orgasms. I read all of Cherise Sinclair's books back-to-back while I was sick with a cold. It's clear that they are imminently readable and have a definite spark, since I read them back to back, so I thought it was only fair that I explain on at least one of the books why I rated them all as a 3. I don't consider a 3 a bad grade at all, but if I'd read these books separately, with months in between, I think I may have rated some of them more highly, as a 4. As it is, I think Ms. Sinclair has a talent for...more
One word: YUM!
Matt you're an ass. Plain and simple.
Rebecca, a few things here, love. 1. Why would you let yourself get talked into going to a swingers retreat for an entire weekend? 2. How could you not know this about your boyfriend? 3. If you were against it how would you think it would work out for you two at the end? 4. Faking orgasms? 5. Staying with someone who's on you about your size??? NOPE!
Now that we got that cleared out of the way, I guess it's a good thing you did go because you f...more

I looooved Logan. He was so gruff, so sexy, so possessive, and so tender. The way he dominated Becca with such purpose and compassion for her insecurities was beautiful…and frickin hot!!!
Becca was a wonderful character. Like Logan, she was scarred inside and out, but she was incredibly brave and so giving of herself. Her moments with Thor were touching. And the journey she took to discover and accept her sexuality and identity was enjoyable.

Rebecca's boyfriend can check off every item on her perfect-boyfriend list, but maybe one of those checks should have read "sexually compatible." Despite a lack luster bedroom life, Rebecca is determine to make the relationship work. When he suggests she join him on a weekend vacation with his swingers group (a group she didn't know about), she reluctantly agrees to give it a try. She quickly decides the swinging lifestyle is not for her. She actually finds herself drawn to lodge owner Logan and...more

Oh for crying out loud! I'm not even leaving a review, have you read Sinclair's work? Yes? Okay, than you know her routine. I read this a while ago and it was so predicatable that I started thinking that she has an iron clad list of step by step things that have to happen in each of her books. They're all the same and I'm bored to tears!
It's the same old story from Ms. Sinclair: lather, rinse repeat. The plot is pretty much EXACTLY the same, only the names have changed. If you want a more in dep...more

What an adorable story!
Actually it started off as a-okay. The Heroine happens to fall for a guy who is a gentleman (in her eyes, not mine) who can give her a life of happiness, except Matt is a terrible bed lover. Matt makes a suggestion to explore their sexual side in their relationship, and asks if she'd join him on a Swinger's retreat. This is the first time Rebecca has ever heard of him going to such a place, in which couples, men and woman show up just to have sex with one another. In my op...more

Wow looks like another winning series from Cherise Sinclair!
After reading all but one (the last one is on the to read list) of the Club Shadowlands books and loving them, from a friends recommendation I have moved onto the Master of the Mountain series and I am not disappointed in the slightest!
After loving the lifestyle found in the Shadowlands it is refreshing to see the BDSM lifestyle written out of the club scene.

While I am not a huge fan of the BDSM genre, this one keeps popping up with great comments, so I decided to check it out. I was surprised by how much I liked this one. Logan's grumpiness was a great contrast to Rebecca's innocence and confusion with what was going on.
At the start I didn't want Rebecca to go on the trip with Matt, he seemed like a piece of crap and she could do so much better. I hated how uncomfortable Matt made Rebecca and how he didn't do anything to help her fit in. Of course...more

Realistic and Truly Erotic.
Things to like about this book: the heroine is older, not physically perfect, a BDSM novice who stumbles as she learns. The hero has emotional scars - he's chosen a life running a remote mountain retreat for a reason - but he's doesn't suffer the fate of many bruised alpha males in contemporary romance. Sinclair makes him likable, even sympathetic. This variety of erotic romance with BDSM is my personal favorite because it makes sense to me. This story was a...more

I tried to read one of Cherise Sinclairs novels a couple years ago, but I couldn't got into it. Still, I kept hearing good things about her, so when Allromance offered this one as a free e-book a couple of weeks ago I decided to take the chance.
I am glad I did.
This book sizzled. Yes, there were a lot of sex scenes. Normally, I have a lot of problems with that since they often feel like fillers and doesn't add anything to the book. Not this time. Each sex scene felt like they had an intent. But...more

Rebecca and her boyfriend Matt are on the verge of calling it quits. They both realize that something is lacking in the bedroom. So when Matt's secret comes out, that he is part of a swingers club, and that his club is meeting for a weekend getaway in the mountains he pretty much gives Rebecca an ultimatum, come this weekend or we're done. So Rebecca relucantly goes along but it doesn't take long for her to realize that the scene is no for her and before she knows it, she is kicked out of their...more
I read this book some time ago. I remember I really enjoyed it, even though the BDSM thing isn't me. I did have some reservations though. If you like BDSM, which I'm not a fan of, these things that bothered me won't worry you. I don't like the whole voyeurism/exhibitionist thing so that bothered me a lot. I was a tad squeamish in places, but managed to get past that to enjoy it till the end (view spoiler)...more
I adore Cherise Sinclair's books. She consistently treats both her Doms and subs with respect and shows the loving, trust-filled side of a D/s relationship. I hit a patch about a year or so ago where it seemed like all the BDSM-themed books I was picking up were using BDSM as a reason to abuse a main character and I was at the point where I was going to give up on the genre altogether. Then I happened to pick up one of Cherise's books. She breathed life into this genre for me and for that I than...more
Rebecca is keen to put some zing back into her dwindling sex life with Matt, but is reluctant to go along with his proposal. A swinging weekend? Not only the idea of sex with complete strangers, but getting naked and showing her overweight body and ugly scars (from a dog attack as a child) – she has deep misgivings. Things go from bad to worse when Matt (previously her Perfect Man) seems far more taken with the skinny other women. Skinny uninhibited blondes. It’s Rebecca’s own personal hell – es...more
Rebecca is a city girl with the perfect life. She has the perfect high paying job, and the perfect boyfriend who meets all of her qualifications for an ideal husband. She must of been very young, when she wrote that list, because she forgot to include sex. Oh they have sex, if you can even call it that. Rebecca is on the thick side, and has an awful body image. She is happy that Matt is with her, even though he seems like a douche to me. He tells her that their sex life is lacking, and wants her...more
Rebecca thinks she has the perfect life - a city girl with a well paying job as a graphic designer, a handsome boyfriend, they just moved in together ... the only problem seems to be the lackluster sex. To "save" their relationship, Matt tells her he'll be joining his "club" on a vacation in the mountains. The real blow comes when he tells her it's a swingers club. He convinces her to give it a try and she reluctantly agrees. She quickly establishes that that lifestyle isn't for her. Of course a...more
Entry level BDSM romance with an emphasis on the experienced Male Dom/ inexperienced fem sub storyline. As a story it wasn't insufferable and didn't rely completely on the sex, although there was plenty of that.
I have to admit, however, that I have an ingrained gag reflex to guys that call grown women "little one," which is mildly surprising given how much I like the Anita Blake series and don't mind Jean-Claude calling Anita "ma petite." Perhaps it's because she argued with him about it for so...more

Lots of tying up, embarrassing, and pleasuring the woman. I would have liked a little more story, but it was good.
STORY BRIEF:
Rebecca is an artist working for an ad agency in San Francisco. Her live-in boyfriend Matt joined a swingers club. He wants Rebecca to accompany him for a long weekend in the mountains with the swingers club. Rebecca has rarely been pleased with sex, so she thinks she’ll give it a try. I live in the west with my beloved husband, two children, and various animals including three cats who rule the household. Over the years, I've lived in many states and worked at a multitude of jobs before settling down to writing. Finally meeting other authors was a huge relief; apparently I'm not the only person to have a mind populated with characters talking, arguing, and having hot sex.
