It’s been a while since I decided to pick a manga to read (ever since I’ve laid back on the hobby for a few months) and I decided on Dengeki Daisy mainly because 1) the art is topnotch and 2) the story is not bordering to hardcore shojo. The plot is slow-paced and although some may find it annoying, I find it quite endearing. The humor is pleasant, bit childish but it’s nice, it lifts up the spirit. It’s good to take regular doses of upbeat manga once in a while.

Let me start out by saying that I have never been able to read manga before. I am more of an anime girl. For some reason I always had a problem getting into the whole manga/comic reading. However, I instantly fell in love with this story and had no problems staying on track.

This is another series I would never have bought if I hadn't come across the scanlations first. It has a look of the more smutty of shoujo manga and that is what it parodies and satirizes and plays with.
The girl is so take-charge that the male hero, who is totally aware that with their 7 years age difference (or so) he is starting to be a lolicon, has to fight to keep ahead of the trouble that surrounds her - which isn't because of her beauty or because the most popular male in school likes her More...

When I clicked the 'I'm finished' button, I saw it as an emotional state - this book finished me off, made me laugh, tear up, squeal and sigh over a cast of wonderful characters and of course, the enigma himself, 'Daisy'.

Dengenki Daisy more then proves that you shouldn't always judge a book by its awful/mediocre description.
The start of Dengeki Daisy threw me, for the first chapter I couldn't get the tone of the story. It seemed to be over-the-top, and I kept catching myself reading the dialog in mock soap-opera voices. Which is understandable, I mean did you read the description for this? Despite the fact that it does accurately explain the story, it just sounds over-exaggerated. At first I was going to give this manga about 1 stars out of 5, which now, when contemplated, deems pretty unreasonable( I swear when I see a 1/5 rating it seems like I hated it, or something.) When I say that I didn't hate it, I can't exactly say it was too likeable. Dengeki Daisy is a cliche story about a girl where her cellphone "Daisy" has become her support when she is most in need. One day she meets a cranky and cruel( don't forget goodlooking because noone, noone

I was just chilling on Mangafox responding to my mangafox friends' messages on my page, and I asked almost every single one of them "What manga do you recommend? I'm looking for some new reads."
Their lists went on and on, but one particular title that kept appearing on my friends' lists was "Dengeki Daisy".
So a few days ago while procrastinating on my school work, I looked this title up. I bookmarked it and promised myself "ONE chapter only. Then I have to go study."

I expected the story to be as lame as the title but I was pleasantly surprised. Teru is very likeable as the main character. She is strong yet still able to be silly at times. She is able to stand up for herself when she needs to not just relying on DAISY to come and save her even though she asks him to. I think the thing that makes her stand out from your average shojo heroine is that she seems like a normal girl. Such a simple thing that not a lot of shojo artist seem to get right.

This manga really caught my attention throughout the first few chapters. It's a bit cliche, but turns into a thrilling suspense as the story progresses. I liked the fact that the main protagonist, Teru, wasn't portrayed as one of those annoying, overly sensitive, girls that most authors make out to be. She's sarcastic, funny, and a tough "gal" who knows how to carry herself. But as the story progressed, to my dismay, she became of of those "whiny" girls who kept complaining on how she can't prot More...

I love this manga so much!!The best romance manga ever. Kyousuke Motomi sensei knows how to target not only teen readers but also young adults. The heroine in this manga is not your typical girl in a shoujo manga who is very annoying, weak, overly sensitive and too clingy. Teru is strong and knows how to save Daisy. I also love the fact that sensei used an unusual love story setting. Daisy exist in Teru's life only thru phone messages or so she thought. He's a ________*no spoiler* who became a sc More...

After like, the first two pages, I had a feeling I would not like this shoujo very much, and sadly, I was right. The reasons: a bunch of cliches (most of the times I do not mind cliches... in fact, I like them, but it did not work very well in this case)
- heroine is a sweet, nice girl (and looks a lot like Yuuki from VK, a character I do not like AT ALL)
- heroine gets in trouble when she breaks a window. Best way to pay for the window, as she is poor: work for the janitor, Kurosaki, who is our h More...

Teru Kurebayashi is alone in the world with only the text messages of her deceased brother's friend "Daisy" to comfort and encourage her. Teru is a strong girl and she tries not to rely too much on Daisy's help. That's why, after breaking a window at school, she has to work off the damages for school custodian Tasuku Kurosaki. Despite his gruff exterior, Kurosaki seems to have a soft spot for Teru.
This was a fun, adorable manga. I love both the main characters. Teru is a good, strong, cute hero More...

You should never judge a book by its cover, never trust a stranger, though sometimes it's worth it.
The characters of Dengeki Daisy are sometimes a little unsettling, their reactions overdone, their thoughts incomprehensible and yet you can't help but like them - at least a little.
The story, though rather improbable, is quite engaging, mostly funny with bits of tenderness and drama, you could call it a cliché, and that's probably what it is.

My Thoughts:
The beginning of this new to me manga series was a little werid. I never really like the beginning of books and since manga moves faster than a novel it was confusing at first to get use to who everyone is and what Teru’s back story really is. Plus there seemed to be a ton of dialogue in each frame during the beginning of this volume and that really bugged me. It was hard to read all of the chat boxes that were in each fra More...

I like this. I mean, yes they like each other, but no, it's not completely focussed on them. I like that Teru has her own personality and problems and is not completely focussed or obsessed with Kurosaki/DAISY. I also like that it is the same with Kurosaki/DAISY. I would definitely keep reading this. I mean I did enjoy Black Bird but there were so many annoying factors, that I just wanted to stop reading (even though there were many good attributes to the story). This reminds me of SLH by Aya Sh More...

This manga is a love story between girl and her late brother's "friend". It started with when the girl started to text the friend after her brother died. Then the awkard love story has begun. It's good manga. It's cute and funny. :)

The story is really cute and hilarious. Kurosaki and Teru both crack me up and I love how she's not a typical love-strucked MC who needs saving all the time. She's actually not useless and is very smart and strong.

Meh. Not my favorite. This was one of those stories that I had a hard time following who was who. Also, in general, it didn't really make sense. Perhaps I just need to keep reading the series. By the end I kind of had a handle on each character, but I don't know if I care enough about the story to keep going with it. It's about a girl who's brother dies but leaves her a cell phone so she can talk to "Daisy." Daisy will keep her company and watch over her since she won't have any family left afte More...

I like it. 3.5 deh, setengah poin untuk gambarnya yang bagus dan rapi. tadinya saya kira preman di sini bener-bener preman yang gahar, tampang menyeramkan dan ditakuti semua orang. kenyataannya ya, cuma orang yang galak dan tidak terlalu pandai mengungkapkan perasaannya.
memang sih tipikal serial-serial cantik lainnya. tapi saya suka setting ceritanya, tentang hacker dan cracker. cuma mungkin perkembangan cerita seputar hacker dan cracker-nya hanya jadi latar, coba lebih dikembangkan gitu. pada More...

I'm not sure on this one. Part of me likes it and part of me goes, "Really?" Though, I suppose that's my reaction to quite a bit of the Shoujo Manga these days.
I kinda like the "pen pal" thing, but part of me really wanted her to figure out who it was a lot sooner. Especially because it's spelled out to us. Another part of me wished that we weren't allowed to figure it out yet, in which case it would be okay for her to be clueless.
Maybe it's just me.
Anyway, interesting series. I may read volume More...

What's really great about this series is that the main character, Teru, is a strong girl who knows how to take care of herself but also finds she needs help as well. Kurosaki, the mysterious school janitor who knows more about her than she realizes, has a challenging mystery to his character and great tenderness hidden under a lackadaisical attitude. And a cast of side characters that make the book very funny but also very touching.
The series feels very much like a mix of the best parts of HanaK More...

That....
...was freaking HILARIOUS.
Yup, this is definitely going to be one of my most favourite mangas of all time.
I honestly wasn't expecting this manga to be so funny. For some reason I thought it'd be more melodramatic. But I was giggling and laughing throughout the whole thing. Even the serious moments cracked me up - there would be an emotional scene when someone (usually Kurosaki) would mess it up.
Teru? I FREAKING LOVE THIS GIRL! I want her as my best friend. She's so spunky and hilarious. More...

This has easily become one of my absolute favorite mangas.
I love the characters in this series, especially the lead characters, Teru and Kurosaki.
