Southern comedy of manners, with a widowed southern belle living at the corner of past and present, with an African American cook as sidekick and long-time friend and foil. Miss Julia has her own story to tell, and she seems to do it in the course of bossing others around. She isn't Miss Marple, or Jessica Fletcher, or even Miss Manners. She is continuously confronted by the complexities in the big questions...how to be a good Christian, how to live honestly and fully, how to be kind to people...more

Miss Julia is feeling a little wistful when Hazel Marie, once her late husband's paramour and now her best friend, prepares to move out and live in sin with that marriage-shy Mr. Pickens. I read this book back when I was spending a lot of time reading
bridezilla stories online (and subsequently ended up reading all of the Miss Julia books). The Miss Julia books are all set in rural North Carolina, which means that all of my local libraries tend to have them in their collections.
I always knew that the busybody senior citizens in my adopted state tended to disapprove of my outspoken, heathen ways, but Miss Julia has helped me understand a bit better the mindset of her and o...more

Miss Julia sets off to throw Coleman & Binkie a wedding when she finds out of their plans to get married by a JP; but, she only has one week to plan it. Even with a lost preacher, an escaped thief, an unsure bride and a crowd of uninvited guests, the wedding comes together turning into an event, the likes of which Abbotsville has never seen!
I gotta say, I liked the first two books in the series a bit more, although ths one was still entertaining.

You truely can't tell a book by it's cover. The description was one thing and it was nothing like I expected. It was a nice story and I enjoyed listening to it.

Random book I picked up at the library not knowing what I was going to get. Is actually a sequel. Still, it was entertaining and quite funny. I enjoyed it.

The pompous woman was a little too much for me, but she did finally learn to love and serve others more on their terms.

Another cute entry in Ann B. Ross' "Miss Julia" series. Fluff, but fun fluff.
