Captivating and full of humor!!! This was a wonderful read. I have always loved humor, and this page turner hit my humor spot. I would recommend this book for those that loves a good mystery, adventure, humor and a wonderful cast of characters. This book also holds some paranormal aspects, but this is not a romance novel, so there is no HEA or sex.

This is a fun book about Lucy running her family match-making service for a couple of weeks. The thing is Lucy has a touch of physic in More...

Everybody who's familiar with my reading patterns knows that I tend to have phases. Like a historical romance phase and a teen paranormal phase and so on... I came across Heather Webber's Lucy Valentine series last year, when I was in my fluffy mysteries phase. And I was hooked instantly.

To be fair, although the blurb may make the book out to be complete fluff, it really isn't. Not like, say, Ellen Byerrum's Crimes of Fashion books. The Lucy Valentine books are fun reads, but they're More...

My earlier note on receiving this book free from Goodreads as part of the First Reads program at bottom.

I really liked this book! For a mystery (and a first mystery,) it was actually suspenseful, and didn't telegraph the ending a third of the way through. As an urban fantasy novel, it was convincing and consistent in its mythology-building, if definitely on the light-hearted side. As a romance, I was SO GRATEFUL that it wasn't your standard virgin-meets-hot-guy-with-issues then promp More...

I received this advanced reader’s copy (ARC) through a Goodreads giveaway. I was extremely pleased with Heather Webber’s novel Truly, Madly. I finished it fairly quickly, as it’s an engaging read that develops at a steady pace. The characters are likeable, the plot is suspenseful, and the point of view keeps you interested in the main character the entire time.

I liked how the author Heather Webber infuses mysterious events throughout the entire novel, but she doesn’t wait until th More...

Blessed (or cursed) by Cupid, The Valentine family has been given the gift of matchmaking, with the ability to see people's auras. Only Lucy lost this gift at the age of 14 during a thunderstorm and now her powers has been subjected to finding objects rather then the matters of the heart. While her father recovers from a heart attack, Lucy has to keep her fathers company -Valentine Inc- up to float while her parents take a little vaca. Soon enough things start to spiral out of control when Lucy More...

TRULY, MADLY is mystery, romance, chick-lit and a bit of paranormal all wrapped up in one delightful little package. Lucy Valentine is a nice, normal, and a little bit quirky protagonist who never got on my nerves. It's nice to have a main character who isn't totally self-absorbed, ditzy, neurotic, clumsy and just plain irritating, basically just about every female you run across in lighter fiction books these days. All the other characters added to the story seamlessly and there wasn't one who More...

This review is based on an ARC copy. I got my copy through Barnes & Noble's First Look Book Club. This book will be released in February 2010.

Heather Webber's Truly, Madly is a fast-paced, fun read with a dash of mystery and suspense thrown in for good measure.

Lucy Valentine, daughter of world-renowned matchmaker Oscar Valentine, is a little skeptical when it comes to love and matchmaking, but when her father gets caught in a compromising and career-threatening position, More...

What a fun, enjoyable book! I received an ARC of this book as part of a first-reads giveaway. I am really glad that I did!

This is the story of Lucy Valentine. She is a girl with a problem! Lucy comes from a long line of matchmakers. The ability to match make is literally in their genes. All of the members of her family can see the colors of people's spirits. Then, they find two people who's spirits match, and presto! You have a match. In fact, their matchmaking business ha More...

*This review is based on a copy of the book I won through Goodreads FirstReads Giveaways.*

Actual rating: 4 1/2 stars.

I won an ARC of this through a Goodreads First Reads, and when it arrived in the mail today I dove right in. I was so glad I did, it was a cute, fun and fast read.

I'd like to address the mystery first and foremost. I was so, so, so pleased that I actually didn't have the mystery figured early in the book. In fact, I didn't have the mystery figu More...

Come February, you need to be looking for a fabulous new read entitiled "truly, madly." It is funny, romantic, mysterious and all things needed for a long winter afternoon of reading.

Lucy Valentine is cursed, sort of. She was hit by lightening when she was thirteen which ended her reading of auras and her participation in the family business of matchmaking. No one knows that Valentines don't really do research and all that other stuff, they read the person's aura and mat More...

Truly, Madly (St. Martin’s Press 2010) introduces Lucy Valentine, the only member of the psychic matchmaking Valentine family not able to see the colored auras that identify perfect couples. Unfortunately, the Valentine matchmaking talent doesn’t work within the family — no Valentines have yet managed a lasting relationship. When Lucy’s father is caught with another woman, her parents decide they must take a romantic vacation together to convince the press that their marriage isn’t a sham, leavi More...

Let me preface this review by saying this: "I've never done this before." I'm not a book reviewer, but I'm a book lover. At one point, I was reading a book a night, happily. I'm a speed reader and I enjoy a good book beyond most other things in life.

I am a sucker for an enjoyable plot that not only keeps me wondering, but keeps me intrigued and entertained in the process. If the writer has a sense of humor that allows me to connect with the characters in a way that makes the More...

This book is a gumbo - full of tons of ingredients and flavors. I happen to prefer soups (and books) with a more simple seasoning. If you like your novels to be fairly fast paced and with chunks of various genres, then I can recommend Truly, Madly. While it was certainly a good little book, I felt there was too much going on, as if the author was trying to write a book that would appeal to everyone whether they liked romance, chick lit, or cozy mysteries, or something else altogether. That is a More...

My sister had picked this book up on a lark. Neither one of us had read anything else by this author. However, the blurb on the back sounded interesting.

I was the first to read it. I was definitely not disappointed.

The Valentine family is aptly named: they're matchmakers. They're all imbued with a psychic gift which allows them to read auras and make matches based on their reading. Valentine, Inc. is the vehicle which they use to make a very comfortable living with their familial gift. The only trouble is, no Valentine has ever made a truly successful match for himself...

Lucy Valentine, only child of the C.E.O. of Valentine, Inc - a famous and successful matchmaking firm - has no desire to take over her father's company. Not even for a couple of weeks. For one thing, she was happily off on her own, doing her own thing.

Okay, maybe not so happily.

It's not like she has the family ability to see people's auras anymore, so why did her father choose her to take over while he went on sabbatical?

Because she carries the family name. Hi More...

I forgot my kindle and needed something to do for the hour at the laundromat when I grabbed this book from the Wal-Mart shelf. I suppose because it was February and the character's name is "Valentine" it was listed as romance but I found it to be heavier on the paranormal and mystery than romance (which I love). I've never read the author before but finished the book in less than 2 hours (called my mom to tell how great it was and she bought a copy) and am counting down the time until More...

First off, in the interests of full and legal disclosure, I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a review. Okay, technicalities observed. Let the reviewing begin.

I've been putting off reading and reviewing this book for reasons I can't really describe. I think I hoped I would like it, but was afraid that it would be terrible, or even worse, terribly disappointing. Happily, I was wrong!

Not my normal 5 star book but I so thoroughly loved the book I had to give it 5 stars. Lucy Valentine is the daughter of a long line of matchmakers. They supposedly came from cupid and are blessed with a certain gift with matchmaking. But a fateful day back when Lucy was 14 changed that and the gift she once had is now a different gift.

That is pretty well what I knew about the book and was a surprised at the adventure that this book took me in. It ended up being a mystery where More...

I recently had the chance to read an advanced reader copy of Heather Webber’s “truly, madly”

This book was a delightful read. I enjoyed the characters right from the first chapter, but I enjoyed the premise even more. What a fun book to read. The heroine (Lucy) feels like a misfit in her family of matchmakers who rely on their special power of seeing auras around individuals and matching them up with those with the same color auras. She only has the power to find lost objects. Her life feels wasted because what fulfillment can you get in finding lost keys!!! Add to the mix that the family has a curse that while they can match others in true love they never find it themselves. Enter the devasting hunk ex- More...

I won this book on the First Reads Giveaway over on the site GoodReads. Truth be told, had I not won this book I would never have thought to pick it up and read it. Don't get me wrong, I love chick lit as much as the next chick lit reader, but I am a tad choosy when it comes to selecting which chick lit book I want to read next. Usually I read Keyes, Kinsella, Green, Giffin and so forth, because I know what to expect = chick lit with substance. However, there have been times when I've read other More...

Lucy Valentine comes from a long line of successful matchmakers who are secretly able to match clients by reading auras. When Lucy’s father is caught having an affair, Lucy is left in charge of the family business. Unfortunately, Lucy’s powers were scrambled and she can only find lost objects, not true love. Although the job has its perks, such as proximity to handsome private detective Sean Donahue, Lucy finds herself in trouble when her powers inadvertently uncover a murder mystery!

Plot according to my sister: This book is Sex and the City meets Law and Order (a mediocre episode, not one of the good ones). It is about a "Matchmaker's daughter" who has a special ability (ESP-type thing) and finds herself and the hunky ex-fire fighter turned PI investigating a murder committed years before. She also spends time searching for a missing boy, finding mates for all her friends and rehabilitating injured animals. All in designer jeans and stiletto heels.

Lucy Valentine’s parents are going on a vacation, leaving Lucy to manage Valentine, Inc. A match making company. Lucy is the last person you would imagine running a matchmaking business. Lucy doesn’t believe in happy endings. Her family has seen their share of divorces. This is because the Valentines never had a chance when you are dealt with Cupid’s curse. Besides…what good is playing matchmaker when all your powers have been zapped away.

Lucy Valentine is psychic - she can't see people's auras as her father can, but she can find lost objects and see into the future, just by shaking someone's hand.

The plot for this cozy mystery is unique - Lucy takes over her father's successful and well known match-making business while her dad recuperates after heart surgery. She matches couples by the color of their auras noted by her aura-seeing father in each client's personal file.

When Lucy gets a new client, shake More...
