'"To infinity, meaning you'd see something through to the end."
Nick didn't get it. "Infinity is never-ending."
"That's right, which means you keep going and going no matter what happens or what obstacles you meet. Over, under, around, or through. There's always a way. And if you have to chase something to infinity, strap on your big-boy pants, hiking boots, and go."'

This is totally a young adult book. If your looking for something like the dark hunters series, its not here, so you don’t get the romance and hardcore action. I would recommend this book to people who read YA books, but if YA is not your cup of tea like me, well you may want to read more than a couple of reviews before buying. There is action, and humor and teens that turns into zombies, yep, picture it, some of the football team as zombies coming after to kill Nick.

Nick starts out as a loser....more

This was the first Sherrilyn Kennyon book I read, I actually read this before I read the Dark Hunter series and I loved it. I was in Dymocks one day with my Mum and two little sisters and she said I could pick a book. I contemplated and contemplated it was either this or something else. In the end I decided on Infinity. I am glad I did. I flew through it and despite it’s size I managed to read it in one afternoon and I read it again and again.

Plot in a sentence and a half: Nick is 14 and is bul...more

THE WORST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ.
The writing is stilted, the story is dull, it doesn't make sense. The main character is a complete waste of space - I didn't like him at all, and was glad when bad things happened to him. There is no explanation for anything, and things happen for no reason at all; nothing is ever explained, or acknowledged. Things just happen, and are put across in this terrible attempt-funny style of writing that's just disjointed and lazy. Not to mention that the protag's condi...more

I skimmed quite a bit through this one...and still feel I wasted a LOT of time. Yes...these are hours of my life I'll never get back.

The book dragged on trying to get started as we went to school with Nick and watched him persecuted more thoroughly than Bilbo at an Orc convention. We suffered through him having to live on powdered eggs...with maybe a little bacon, sometimes not even out of date (Nick's mom is poor but noble....not real understanding at times, but noble. Oh and also very importan...more

I enjoyed this first installment of CON. Sherrilyn Kenyon has convinced me with her talent. She was able to keep me wrapped up in the world she created for Nick. Be it adult romance or young adult fantasy, she's built a solid foundation with intriguing creatures.

Nick is a 14 years old and dirt poor. His Mom is a stripper and they eat substituted food like powdered eggs. I am not sure if Nick feels bad about his home situation because his his attitude is so acidic at times. I'll sting you, befor...more

This is the first book I've ever decided to stop reading because I disliked it so much. It was taking me forever to get through it, and I just got to a point where I didn't feel like wasting my time with it anymore. There are so many other books I'd rather read than this.

There is absolutely nothing in this book to recommend it. The writing is crap. The author doesn't know how to identify with teens and constantly talks down to her readers. There is nothing even resembling logic. The plot is all over the place. The characters are flat and dull, when they aren't being needlessly dramatic. Just...in every single aspect possible, this book fails.

Disappointing addition to young adult paranormal genre

Having never read any of the Dark-Hunter books, I came into Kenyon's INFINITY: CHRONICLES OF NICK without expectations. Unfortunately, Kenyon's foray into the young adult genre left me extremely disappointed. As the book opens, we meet Nick, a scrappy but sullen fourteen-year-old boy who lives with his mother in the slums of New Orleans. After being shot during an attempted mugging one night, Nick is saved by a mysterious man who takes him un...more

Never read Kenyon before because her books just never sounded interesting to me. For some reason this new journey of hers into the YA fantasy field caught my attention. Should have stuck with my impression of her adult books as this was mostly a waste of time. The best character was Nick's mom, the single mom stripper with a heart of gold. The whole book was full of this type of cliche' and I've discovered that zombies, whether live or dead zombies, bore the shit out of me! Wouldn't recommend th...more

“Couldn’t finish the book” Review – I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes, How contrived a narrative can you force onto people to try to make them sympathise and like a character? I found Nick so badly written and all the people who he talks too so stereotyped into a box I couldn’t even get into the real plot.

Nick;
He’s poor,
Smart but nerdy,
Doesn’t have any friends,
He’s really really poor,
He’s from a broken dysfunctional home, so he doesn’t have a dad or any connection to his grandparents,
He’s bullied,...more

I didn’t start this with positive thoughts. My reasons were:
• I didn’t depart the Dark Hunter series with the best feelings;
• Never really liked Nick;
• Wasn’t sure of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s ability to write a good YA novel.

Did I make a good choice with Infinity? Will the Chronicles of Nick rock your world? Well no and no. Sorry Nicky boy, you’re just not cool enough. Yet.

The book lacks a proper story. All I got was Nick being bullied, Nick lacking food and Nick being chased by stupid jock zombies (c...more

Oh that was entertaining!!! This is also the first book I ready from Mrs Kenyon, yeah I know - shame on me. But I think I'm glad I started with her YA series before digging into the mature stuff. ;)

The cover always crabbed me but somehow I never picked it up, I guess I was afraid when I read Nick is supposed to be 14 and this sounds more MG than YA to me - but..duhh! I'm glad I did now, I truly enjoyed myself and I will most definitely go and buy the next one right away.

There was much to like about this book's premise and some of the characters, but I was left uncomfortable in reading it by the many inconsistencies of both language and characters. For example... The main characters mother is a stripper who dropped out of school to have a baby, yet she always speaks very properly. The main character himself speaks properly (almost adult-like in his syntax in thought and word) for the first 80 pages and then seems to remember he's one step up from a street kid an...more

Ahahaha! Once again, my semi-functional intuition has come through for me!

Yes, that's right. I loved this book. I just want to smother it with praise. I have never been so happy with a random book I've chosen off a shelf.

Alright, alright, I'm done fangirling. On to the actual review.

Nick Gautier is an average fourteen year old kid. Sort of. If you take away the fact that recently cannibal attacks have erupted at his school, zombies are suddenly roaming the streets by the dozen, and his best fri...more

This book is terrible! I might have been more interested if the writing wouldn't have been as bad. This book is written in the 3rd person, but it seemed as if she was confused as to who the main character was. All of the characters are written together and "thinking" and "saying" things at the same time and you have no idea who is thinking or saying what. After getting past that, the possible main character, Nick, is not even close to relatable. It's as if she was trying to make him a comedian b...more

It started off as a relatively inocuous fun YA read. The characters are clever and silly and it was entertaining.. at first.
Then it jumps the shark as the author begins introducing so many different creatures people and empty hinted at story lines that never come to fruitiion. She makes a HUGE mess of it and it goes from a fun read to a convoluted non-sensical almost indeciperapble mess.

Its like the horror section at the video store threw up and the author expects me to clean it up. Zombies- t...more

Sometimes, Nick wishes life was easier. He hates his mother's job that lets them barely survive, and he hates the boys at school for mocking him and his mom. He can't stop himself from fighting. When he's suspended, he's in hot water with his overprotective mother. She makes him promise to go straight home, but he runs into his crowd. They give him an offer to make money that he just can't refuse.

Nick can't go through with the plan and ends up sav...more

The author alternated from clunky dialogue and inconsistent characterization to truly funny scenes and interesting ideas. I was past my personal allowable quitting point when I started to get annoyed by the writing, and I was interested in reading more by the time I got to the end. So I guess I'd say it was a decent start and finish, with some problems in between. I'll probably try out another, just to see what happens, but it may be a while.

This origin story is entre into the world of the popular Dark Hunter series from Nick's point of view. Having read that entire series I didn't think I'd get a lot out of the YA version or Dark Hunter Lite as I referred to it - but I was wrong.
Nick's having a tough time of life, what with being born into poverty and living in a town where everyone knows his mother is an adult dancer and his father is in prison, it really doesn't help that his friends...more

So how exactly does Sherrilyn Kenyon take a character from her adult paranormal romance Dark-Hunter series and spinoff backwards to his teenage years in a new paranormal YA series? Well, there’s a bit of a twist in answering that question, one that I think will be satisfying and provocative for both old and new readers. She doesn’t ignore or change what happened to Nick as an adult, but she does give him opportunities to surprise old readers a...more

I feel kind of bad giving this book only two stars, but I couldn't really get into it. I liked Nick well enough, even though he kind of got on my nerves sometimes. His mom annoyed the crap out of me; I don't care how worried she gets, a good parent should actually listen to their child. And a sure-fire way to drive him towards the kind of life his father led is to constantly remind him of it. "Don't turn out like your scum-sucking father, Nick." Stop telling him that you think it's a distinct po...more

“All packed paranormal novel!”

The Chronicles of Nick are the prequel to The Dark Hunters Series. Actually I haven’t read the books yet. But I think it’s a great start for me to read this first book ‘The Chronicles of Nick: Infinity’.

Reading it makes me giggle a lot. It was funny, humorous and wild. Nick’s life is a freakin’ disaster being suspended from school, got shot, bitten by a zombie, bitten by a vampire, car crash…etc.. His problems are one after another as we all so called ‘Infinite’.

If you don't know me you probably wont know i'm a die hard Dark-Hunter fanatic! (Acheron and Vane are my book boyfriends from back when) Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of the few Auto buy authors because basically she's made of pure sugar coated awesome. But when i heard Nick Gautier one of my favourite Dark Hunter characters was getting his own series but in the YA genre i cringed. Whilst i love reading YA, i wasn't sure if the cross over would work.
