Yes, it's true. You might not be able to make everything in this cookbook from the ingredients you'd find in the average chain supermarket, but I've never really found that to be a persuasive critique. If you don't live near an ethnic food store or a well-stocked grocery store or whatever, then you probably already know that your recipe potential is going to be limited (or you need to do some online shopping for more "exotic" dry goods).

I was very disappointed with this cookbook of so-called "simple" vegetarian recipes. While there is good information in the introduction of the book such as 'How to Get Your Protein' and a source guide for getting unusual ingredients online, most of the recipes required some ingredients that are either not stocked in my pantry or not available at all in stores where I live.

I don't consider these recipes simple when:
1) Ingredients aren't normally on hand

I have a number of vegetarian cookbooks. This surely is better than some; on the other hand, it is not the "pick of the lot." For one thing, it is pretty brief (not quite 140 pages of text). Still, the book has some real value.

It was an ok book. It had some good information in it, but most of the recipes were harder than I am willing to try. I like easy to make recipes with easy ingredients not things you need to get from specialty markets.

I fully agree with some of the other Goodreads readers about this book. It just didn't do anything for me. Recipes using obscure ingredients, too many steps, weird titles to the recipes. So, glad I didn't buy this one - thanks Library2Go!
