Even though I only gave this book 3 stars, I really liked it. I've read other books by this author and I noticed how she manages to write stories, while a little angsty sometimes, the romance is very sweet. In this book, she did a wonderful job with the alternating POV from both characters, James and Payton. And she beautifully conveyed an entire story line that spans over 10 years into such a short book. My reason for giving it a low rating is that there just wasn't much conflict in the story....more

For a short novella, there was a lot of time history covered in this book (approx. 10 years or so) which gives a lot of perspective. I enjoyed the alternating points of view which span a chapter at a time - it's always nice to get inside each characters head to understand what's going on. The two main characters met under interesting circumstances. Payne started dating James' sister and sort of became the son that James never was. James resented Payne for this. Well, things are never as simple a...more
It's not the first time that I noticed, reading a novella by Lisa Marie Davis, that she has a very sweet romance perspective on the world... it's nice, it's innocent, it's fresh... probably it's not true, or it's too sugary, but it's made of the same material that dreams are. Cinderfellas, love at first sight, first love never forgotten... they are all elements of that type of romance that sometime is called in a derogatory way, Harlequin, the line that more represents them, but there are millio...more
Definitively written by a woman who like Harlequin novel.
Two gay man that think and act like a teenage girl in love with a rock star.
Not totally bad, just really cliche, totally GaryStue.
Too much use of the word 'perfect', at one moment I started to count them.
And the first person point of view's not my favorite.
The good point it's that they are cute together and I wanted them to be happy

A very nice premise, nice family conflict and yes I could relate to some of it.
I suppose this book could have benefited from about 100 more pages. There wasn't that much depth in the relationship between the two main characters, whereas their relationship with other people was explained more thoroughly.
It was cute, and I will take a look at the sequel, but not a must-read.
Super quick read. Not much going on plotwise. I haven't seen you in years, I talk to you for one day, our differences are resolved in one conversation, I love you. Oh yeah, our fathers hate us.
Now I can get back to watching the opening night of college football. Gamecocks look like a mess as usual.

It was pleasant enough, and well written. Alternating first-person POV, which I don't mind, except that the two characters sometimes sounded a bit too much alike. An easy romance, with very little internal conflict to interfere with the development of the relationship.
3.5 out of 5.
