Theophilus
Avery interesting read. This is a collection articles, pictures, and other documents. It's like reading a scrapbook that someone meticulously put together around a single theme, Black History. Some of the documents are difficult to read because of the small print (reduced to fit the pages. I learned what the contemporaries of a time period thought about some things. I don't know why I was thinking about this book the other night. I think Toni Morrison conceived of it when she was only an editor, not an author, and it's sort of a black American family scrapbook and full of tons of traumatic things from the past. A lot of racist advertising, bill of sales and most traumatic of all, a really explicit lynching photo with a guy's corpse partially burnt up. Desecrated bodies are amazingly disturbing to look at.
