Synopsis - Tarek Jordan is a feline Breed, created by the Genetic Council by crossing lion and human DNA, then indoctrinated to believe that he would never be anything more than a tool. After he and the other Breeds liberated themselves from their abusive creators, they fought against the brainwashing that said they weren't human, that they couldn't love, and that neither God nor any human would ever love them. Lyra Mason lives next door to Tarek and has worked hard to assert her independence fr...more
Thank god this one was short! Not that I don't love it, trust me I do. It's just easier to review a shorter book than it does with a long one. But wow! I really liked this installment in the Breeds series by Lora Leigh. It was very hot, typical of any books by this author. Not to mention that I really enjoyed the relationship between the hero and the heroine. Ahah, she always threatens to kill him... but we all know that she won't. I really adore Lyra and Tarek together because even though this...more
This story is set a number of years after the original Pride went public. Jonas is now Head of Breed Enforcer Affairs. Tarek is a Breed that we haven't met before and he is after a Trainer from the Lab that Tarek was held at. It is interesting to watch Tarek handle the normal day to day things that we take for granted. I love his reaction to the smell of homemade bread fresh from the oven. I don't think there is anything that brings to mind home and comfort like that smell. The only problem with...more
Tarek Jordan is trying to do his job and for some strange reason he decided to buy a house, I place of his own, somewhere that he could make a life and a home. Little did he know that the hellion he moved next to would keep him on edge, tense, and his balls so tight he is having a hard time controlling it. What is it about her that makes him long for her kiss and to pet her, all day and all night long?
Lyra knows he is too good to be true but she loves razzing and looking at Tarek because honestl...more

Tarec and Lyra... a novella... He is Breed / Lion, in his own house, tasked with finding The Trainer, Council authorized 'trainer' of the lab that had created Tarec... and tried to dehumanize him, make him into a killing machine... Lyra, accountant...first virgin of the Breed books... 3 older brother of SpecialOps who had helped to free Breeds, homebody, bakes bread, doesn't take crap from her brothers, does not let them rule her life...

It was a fun read, I loved the humor and the characters. This is a short story and Ms Leigh managed to squeeze everything in it - quirky characters, suspense and danger, great erotica, and confessions of love.
I could just imagine Lyra and Tarek together. He's really amusing and Lyra's sharp tongue and feigned irritation masked her attraction for him - and growing lust. She's a smart one too, having figured out Tarek's a Breed. I really liked that he had a horrendous amount of self-control, expla...more

Great quick read. As usual, I loved both of the main characters, especially how Tarek was so uncomfortable with everyday activities. I did catch myself saying 'what a cowinkydink' a little bit more than normal for this series though. Special forces brothers? Brothers to begin with? Living next door? Jonas knew of Lyra, including some extremely personal type inofrmation? Riiiiiiiiiight. Always a reason why I can't rate Leigh's books 5 stars.
I enjoyed the short story but wish it was longer I didn't like the way at the end they both just happened to show up at the cabin would have like more story about the journey there.
She wasn't frightened of him or intimidated by him. She didn't watch him like a piece of meat or an animal that could attack at any moment. She watched him with equal parts frustration, innocence,
and hunger.

I really liked this breed book although it was much to short for my liking but I loved that Lyra accepted Tarek for what he was and that he explained everything before hand so she knew what she was getting into and gave her a chance (VERY SMALL chance) to run. I also liked that they knew eachother before hand so they basically knew that they loved eachother (or close to loving eachother) before hand.
This is a Breed short story about Tarek and Lyra. Ebook was about 100 pages. It is a good story, but since its shortened some things were missing that most Breed books have. Tarek had the workings of a totured soul but we weren't able to hear much about his past or how he got his scars on his chest, although we can guess. The same goes for Lyra, I wish there was more character development.
I really like this story because it doesn't annoy me as some of the others in the Breed series. I guess the fact that the story is kinda short pretty much contributed to the lack of annoying factor. It doesn't leave much room for the caveman and stubborn female act.
And as much as I like Tarek, Dash Sinclair from Elizabeth's Wolf is still my favorite Breed :p

A powerful novella about another of science's "creations" -- a human with altered animal DNA -- and a neighbor who enters his life and changes his entire understanding of what it means to be truly human. This story has been around for a while but it hasn't lost its punch. A great part of the Breeds continuing story.
This book was recommnded as a good read by Stephen King. I love this genre. It was scary, but not overly so. Good story of childless couple seeking help from an unscrupulous fertility doctor. Unfortunately, the writing was not like the flowing and engaging work of S. King, but a good story nonetheless.

At 97 pages, this novella packed a lot of story within the paragraphs - a budding romance, sexy scenes, and elements of danger. If you are not familiar with the Breeds storyline you might be somewhat confused reading this short offering, because there aren't enough pages to give you the backstory.

Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared. Lora’s family, and her writing life co-exist, if not in harmony, in...more
