Great book. This is about Lightning before he became Lightning, before Radiator Springs, before Mater became his BFF. Loved his relationship to The King (43), how The King gave 95 his nickname, and how King even protected him a bit. I swear, whenever I read these comics, I read Mack's parts in John R's voice.

For young readers who enjoy Cars the movie, this book will appeal to them. Focusing on how "Lightning" got into the big league of racing, the artwork is appealing and the text is meant for preteen readers. A book that will help with reluctant readers.

In trying to get my son Oscar to read comics, I've had the most success with this Cars comic from Boom! Studios. Of course, I paraphrase some of the text, but it's still a good early comic.
