I want to cry. I just finished Riding Heartbreak Road by Kiernan Kelly: is a beautiful romance.

Jake is a bull rider living in a small teaxn town who has always hide is homosexuality. Brent is a wealthy new yorker business man who never hide. From the very first encounter they fall in love, but love is not simple when others people thinks you are an abominious. But love is also a great alley for pass almost everything.

While I was reading this book I had the sensation that sex was not the main a...more

I found it odd how a man who was very wealthy was unable to afford himself a lawyer, for his defense, who would be able to show the sleazy prosecutor off for the hack that he so obviously was. Very odd indeed.

Other than that it was a decent enough read. The views on homosexuality in the backwoods of TX was shocking, of course. How people can still be so disgusting, in this day and age, is beyond me but many things in people astound me. It brought to mind what happened to Matthew Shepard and I a...more

After much internal debate, I finally bit the bullet and read this book...minus the epilogue. I am just not that brave or strong.

Jake, the bullriding cowboy, and Brent, the wealthy businessman from NYC. What a duo! They are so different yet so perfect for each other. They go through way too much, more than any two people should ever have to, but their love is strong and pure and they prevail.

Angsty yet satisfying. Funny and sad. It made me laugh, gasp in shock, and got me really pissed off at ti...more

I read the epilogue first. It is only one page but had me crying for over an hour, which was before I even knew the characters. It took me about two weeks to actually read the book from the beginning because every time I thought about starting I would get sad.

Anyway I loved the book and characters. Brent and Jake were perfect for each other. Their story was amazing and I loved all the happy and sad times. Even though the book left me feeling sad as hell I loved it.

Spoiler for the epilogue, (vi...more

HATED the ending. Ruined the book for me. Until then, I was loving the opposite attract storyline. I won't re-read it ever again.
I would have given it 5 stars if not for that ending.

Good book with the worst ending i have ever read in a romance book, i would have wished the writer finish the book a few words sooner..

I don't read MM romance for sad endings. Based on the reviews, I'll buy the book but I'll also try not to forget to skip the sad epilogue.

Really liked this book and I did not read the epilogue.

WOW - the ending sucked big time! It is a good read as long as you skip the entire epilogue. It ends well enough without out.

I loved this story! Yes, it is sad, and yes, parts of this may make you cry - the things that happen to these guys are nothing short of horrific. But they are so strong, sweet and romantic and are just perfect for each other. Jake is such a sweetheart, so low key and sexy. I just wanted to root him on and give him hugs. Brent is wonderful as well. It was great to see his eyes open to how wonderful life outside the city can be and to realize that the main reason he was able to do so was Jake. I'm...more

OMFG, real life sucks enough I don't need to read it in a m/m novel.

I enjoyed it until the epilogue ... could have done without that information ... kind of ruined the story for me.

Great read, just ignor the epilogue.

It's a great book reminding me very much of Brokeback Mountain, both in writing style and the mood of the story. As many may have noticed though; there's a big no-no ending, one that romance readers usually hates. If you want happy ever after, don't read the epilogue.

3.5 One of the few books the Epilogue was not needed and ended up sort of blowing it for me. Liked the story overall and really enjoyed getting to know Brent and Jake. While I felt the story and characters were solid, I wish the story was flushed out a bit more.

This is a must read, but be warned it has a heartbreaking ending.
Normally I don't get emotional but this brought be close to tears reading it. I loved it but hated it also. Does that make sense? Well anyway beware if you read this, its not exactly a HEA :)
