I love Peters' stand alone shorter novels. There is so much Egyptology and plain intelligence in them, not to mention characters you'd love to know because they really are round and real. However, I really don't like this bunch of books about Ramses and Amelia and their kids, etc. I just don't. Oh, how I wish Peters/Michaels would go back to writing what she is best at-- shorter suspense novels full of wit and good characterization. I have given up on this series...

I honestly don't know what to write about the series books after a while. This one was better than the last Elizabeth Peters book I read, and the characters are always enjoyable.

Again, Barbara Rosenblat is uncomparable when it comes to audio books. And, of course, Amelia Peabody is ever entertaining.

I read this one too fast and had a hard time keeping everyone straight. I think I prefer the earlier books in the series...

The shift in focus to the second generation of Emersons has breathed new life into the series.
