I've always been a fan of Anne Murray and reading her autobiography has been a complete and utter pleasure!!
Show business of any type isn't an easy thing to break into and once you do, to keep oneself on an even and responsible plane can be difficult. Not caving into the pressures of the glitz, glamour, drugs and alcohol is often a nightmare that plunges many singers/actors into a habitual and recurring stay in rehab. We really read very few non-fiction books, and cannot even remember the last time we read a biography. But being a life-long fan of Anne Murray, who turns out to be just one year older than us, somehow this opportunity to learn about one of my favorite singers just seemed right. Delivered in a low-profile, conversational tone so typical of her life as a celebrity...more
She tells her story simply and honestly - there is no brushing over of events and she makes no apologies for the decisions she made. Reading her book is like listening to a story told by a friend.
I love her music and knew nothing about her. Now I know a lot! Awesome.
It was a good read.It did tell alot about the music business.
amazingly well written
I'M a big Anne Murray fan. I saw her on the Hour before Christmas and she's the real deal. Classy lady who has kept it together. I found it on the fast lane at the library today and will get to it after reading potatoe peel society.
Learned more about Anne and other people we call stars that I cared to know - no one is innocent - but still it was interesting and made me want to listen to her music again with a fresh ear.
Interesting if you have any interest in Anne Murray, but it was extremely repetitive. A part of Canadian music history, but reallly... listen to her music instead.
A very good and interesting read. I highly recommend it..check this one out, Deena!
