It works as what it aims to do, but I just wish there was more.

I love books. I love robots. I saw this book on sale and thought what a nice looking story. I had this story read to me and both the reader and I were very disappointed. Good message, good drawings, however the back quotes told a better story than the one within the pages. "The Giant Robot Is a wry fable concerning the production of an impressive secret weapon whose promise goes unfulfilled."

An absolute must buy. This is a gem you absolutely have to have in your library. Compelling evidence that less is more, The Gigantic Robot is profound and sad, and can be read in two minutes and savored for years. I'm in awe.

I love how a book becomes a real object. Beautifully designed and one concept from front cover to back. This book is all this and more. It's a wonderful book with Gauld's spot-on analysis of human nature. "Turning futility, decay and eternity into sheer comic wonder..." (Glen David Gold)

C'mon . Really ?? $ 16.95 for for basically 15 simple drawings and 15 simple sentences. Daniel Clowes says it is a " perfect little book ".
I disagree. This is worth about a quarter in a tiny ashcan edition.

My only complaint is that there wasn't enough. I love Tom Gauld's style, and have enjoyed is other books very much.

A simple and understated moral fable, yet perfectly executed. As always, beautiful work from Tom Gauld.

It is what it is, a board book for adults. That being said this title by Gauld can be read in under 30 seconds. Nice illustrations and the message regarding war and time is a good one.

If I am ever blessed with children, I'm going to see how well this sparse little volume goes over as a bedtime story.
