5+ stars – Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense
This is my first read by author Julie James, and I absolutely loved it! I devoured this in a single sitting. Something About You has everything I enjoy in a contemporary romance/romantic suspense read.
*Hot, brooding, gruff, protective alpha hero who’s former Army Special Forces, a Special Agent with the FBI, and drives a Triumph motorcycle? – Check and YOWZA!
*Strong, intelligent, yet genuine heroine? – Check!

Julie James writes smart, witty contemporary romance with heroines who are lawyers, and her real life experience of the profession makes the stories more believable. The heroine of this one, Cameron, hates the hero, Jack. The feeling’s mutual. Something about you – After reading Julie James first book – Just the Sexiest Man Alive – I immediately fell in love with her style of writing and dove head first into her next book on my list – Something about you. And once again you, Ms James have proved again tenfold how wonderfully emotional your writing can be.

"In the living room, being accosted by eighteen women who think he's a stripper. I thought it was best to duck in here."

Three years ago she tanked his investigation, he insulted her on TV, and she had him transferred to Nebraska (or so he thought). Now, she’s an audile witness to a murder and he’s lead investigator. And they still hate each other’s guts (or so they try to convince themselves).

I loved it. The interaction between Jack and Cameron makes this an awesome cover to cover read. It's funny, sweet, suspenseful, intense, and steamy. I loved Jack and Cameron. The cover is gorgeous and relevant. Reading this felt like hanging out with a new person who felt like a close friend from the moment you meet her/him. I guess I pretty much loved everything about Something About You. It's also set in Chicago, which I always love to see.

I loved this book! Enemies-to-Lovers with a fuck-load of sexual tension! Cameron and Jack finally got to the hot lovin' near the end, butI was they were teased and tortured for a very long time. No insta love between these two.
I was also really into the plot, it didn't have much of a mystery and the killer was revealed way earlier than I expected. But there was still some suspense and a lot of laugh-out-loud moments.
The ending was perfect! Very, very sw More...

I flew through this book. I read it in one day. For me, that is quite the feat. The story was fun, the characters enigmatic…I just loved it. And after reading this I just have to say that Julie James did it again.
Something About You is a little different from Julie’s other books. This one included a bit of a suspense/mystery. You find out who the bad guy is pretty early on, but it doesn’t stop you from sitting at the edge of your seat because you’re not sure how everything will More...

I love when a book starts off fast and keeps on going. The hero and heroine had that love/hate relationship that sizzles with sexual tension. A quick read that kept you pulled in and wanting more. I can see why Julie James is on many people's lists of favorites.

Julie James dedicated “Something About You” to “the jokers in the room next to me at the JW Marriot San Francisco--As you kept me awake with your antics, this is the book I wrote in my head.” I feel like I owe these individuals a debt of gratitude because this book was better than I ever expected it to be. In fact, IMHO Julie James hit one right out of the park, with ‘Cameron Lynde’ and ‘Jack Pallas’s’ story I had trouble putting “Something About You” down. Unlike Ms. James’s previous novels “Ju

This was a cute read. Julie James will certainly be an auto read for me going forward. However, I did not enjoy it as much as Just The Sexiest Man Alive. I just loved that book.
It was great that she added a little steam to this book. The H and h are very likable characters. The supporting cast of friends round out the fun for sure!
All in all, I would recommend this to a friend for a light, fun contemporary read. And while there is a crime to be solved, this is not a More...

I had a great time reading this one, I just thought I would enjoy it more than what I really did. It was a really great read, I just think it was too focus on the plot and not so much on the romance. Still I definitely will be reading more from this author soon.

He was an FBI agent with a grudge. She was an Assistant US Attorney with a secret. A murder investigation brought them back together, and despite the animosity caused by their past, the sparks of attraction had not died down.
Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Cameron Lynde had unwittingly became a witness of a controversial murder and had fallen under the protection of Jack Pallas, except that he is not too happy to 'protect' her.

The romance doesn’t really start until 50% through the book and even then it still takes a backseat to the murder plot until 75% into it.
The murderer's POV takes up all of chapter 8 and reveals not only who it is, but also the motivation for the killing. The murderer is given a couple more POV scenes in the middle of the book. So there isn't really a mystery.

You'll remember back in January I found myself surprised and delighted with Julie James' first two novels. I dubbed them "bibliocrack" because as far as cold Januaries and book slumps go, they were good for what ailed me and I eagerly anticipated Ms. James' third novel--SOMETHING ABOUT YOU. Fortunately, I didn't have long to wait. In fact, the longest part about it was sitting in my chair at work knowing the book had arrived that afternoon and was waiting at home for me. Now those are

One of my all time favorite 'he said vs. she said' romantic comedies
Loved the main characters and supporting cast. Great fast paced storyline with a mix of mystery, suspense, humor and romance. Kept me on the edge of my seat--couldn't put it down. The author did a good job building the relationship tension. I also have read the author's other books and enjoyed them, but this one remains my favorite of her works to date.

Julie James is a new author to me. This book is the first book that I have read by her. I haven't read the whole book, meaning, I have skipped parts of the book. I don't read same sex story lines and in this book, Mrs. James have a character - Collin, who is a homosexual. He's one of the heroine - Cameron's, best friends. She has two. Him and Amy. Don't get me wrong, I think that Collin was a good friend to Cameron and I didn't mind reading his parts with her, as long as they weren't talking abo

As i mentioned, once i read the kindle sample- after seeing review after glowing review on this book- I was sold.
I mean to tell ya, once I started Something About You, i couldnt put it down- to the exclusion of cleaning and packing for my upcoming vacation! THEN i immediately downloaded the next and started it. For a gal who barely reads contemporary romance anymore, that's saying something.
Sure the stalker/romantic suspense plot is so yesterday- but if you like sexy r More...

I didn't think I'd enjoy this as much as I did, especially considering that I didn't think the plot was extraordinary:-) But the characters were well written, and the chemistry between hero and heroine was great:-) I loved the banter, which was light and fun.. 4-4.5 stars:-)

This book got my full attention from the first page. The scene was so darn funny. It's amazing how JJ never runs out of good humors.
I was hesitate for a while before reading this. I'm not fond with romance with FBI thing. But then I thought, JJ amazed me with Just The Sexiest Man Alive (no interest also with celebrity romance, of course before reading it) and Practice Makes Perfect (those lawyers made me laugh out loud), so why shouldn't I give FBI romance a try?

Julie James has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary authors. This book has only strengthened the fact.
Something About You brings together an Assistant U.S. Attorney (our heroine), a hunky glowering FBI agent (*drool) and some criminal activity to elicit some action between the two. The problem is, Cameron and Jack used to work together, but circumstances led to publicized bashing, making them enemies and forcing Jack to relocate to Nebraska. Now he's finally back, but this More...

My first Julie James and it sure won't be my last! I loved this book. Cameron and Jack made such a great couple, especially considering their rocky background (as in hating each other for 3 years). The murder mystery was interesting for a backdrop to their romance. He's an FBI Agent ans she's an Assistant US Attorney.

It's been a long time since I found any good romance novel that I could sink my teeth into. I'm a huge fan of humorous, witty and entertaining romance stories but so far most of the ones I read are from established authors that I've been reading for a long time (Judith McNaught, Julie Garwood, Jacquie D'Alessandro) and I'm always a little wary of approaching stories by new authors in the genre. But yesterday as I was browsing in the bookstore, this particular book's cover caught my attention. I

I’m a little bit surprised .FBI agents and murder and investigation. I expected something different, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy reading this book.
I should have known that, because Julie James is graduated from Low College…
She makes perfect characters that bring in us in story with flashbacks (I like it)-now and what happens before three years ago.
Cameron is strong women and she is Assistant U.S. Attorney, she likes her job and enjoys being in courtroom. But af More...

Boy, I must have picked this one up and put it down at least three times at the library before bringing it home. I'd read good things about it on Dear Author and other romance sites and I knew it had good reviews, but this storyline is NOT one of the tropes I enjoy. I'm never sure who these "high powered women/workoholic" type books are directed to--I mean, my job is stressful enough, and I guess you might consider it "high powered", and the last think I want to do in my free

When I have books like this on my list, I often feel embarrassed. I don't know why I do this to myself, because I simply adore contemporary romances and I buy them and there are so many of them which aren't on this list here, because I keep thinking that I’m pretty much lame when I read them although I read them and drool. Especially if they keep me awake until 3am which this one did. So I should just stop beating myself up because facts are that I adore good romances and I utterly enjoy them.

On Chapter 5 and I gotta say, I'm really liking it so far. Very fun writing style, not my typical pick, but so far so good. (Fingers crossed!)
Finally, a good contemporary story with humor, an alpha male, a strong but feminine female, and a plot that actually stands on its own. The main character's personalities are really solid, the secondary characters as well. The bad guy is completely believable and totally human. I absolutely adore Julie James, though she writes in a genre I normally avoid like the plague. I never read contemporary romances. I tend to avoid titles that look like they might veer off into chick-lit territory (Julie James' don't). I don't mind a good solid mystery, but a romance about a detective and the poor little lady who gets caught in a mafia crime? Not my thing.
Well, not my thing unless Julie James is writing it, because anything she sets her pen to turns out fantastic. Jam More...
