I read
Moon Awakening
, the first book in this series, but Moon Craving still managed to surprise me. Moon Craving follows Abigail, whom readers may remember as the deaf sister to the heroine from book one. Well, she gets her hero here, and what a winding road that is.
Craving features some misunderstandings and the circuitious, mercilessly nit-picking dialogue that I'm coming to understand as Lucy Monroe's habit, but the conversations were more relevant here and there were fewer point-by-point a...more

Abigail has no choice but to marry Talorc, the Scottish laird of the Sinclair clan. She’s not pleased to be such a sacrifice, but at least she will be out from under her mother who hates her. Ever since Abigail became deaf at the age of ten due to a fever, her mother Sybil has not been able stand the sight of her and thinks she should have died because of her disability. If not for the aid of her step-sister Emily, Abigail would never have learned to read lips and talk in such a way where no one...more

Great pnr, hist/rom mash up. Alpha hero (naturally, he's a werewolf) unique heroine (she's deaf) and fantastic chemistry. I want more! 4.5 out of 5 from me!
"...differences are often seen as threatening"
And those threats are usually just fears of the unknown and some communication can go a long way.
This is an easily read, sweet book. You won't find many questions of life answered while reading it, but you will met a sweet English madame and a Highlander lord/werewolf who met by an arranged marriage by her evil mother. Who knew that becoming deaf due to illness is such a bad thing. What a difference a few centuries make...LOL

A good read albeit a bit sugary and underdeveloped. The story flows very well though it is somewhat rushed at the end.
The story is more character based and goes leisurely focusing on the characters in depth. The conflict is greatly internal, no evil or enemies out to get them, just a conflict between the two of the lovers and themselves. This character focus is unlike all other such romances I read so far which tends to have a high level adventurous conflicts that tend make either the love story...more

I’ve waited three years for this book. Long years. The first book in the series, Moon Awakening, was terrific and I wanted more of these characters from that moment on. So much time had gone by, I actually stopped checking on a regular basis for when the next edition would be released. Seems like the time went much faster that way, because finally here it is. And I am not disappointed one bit.

I absolutely loved this book. Talorc, laird of the Sinclair clan, is to wed Abigail, the half sister of his first betrothed, Emily. Abigail has been deaf since she was ten, and since been terribly mistreated and ignored by her mother, Sybil. She finds an escape route in marrying Talorc and hopes that when he finds out about her "affliction", he'll send her away to live with her sister, Emily. But when she meets him, she sees that he is a good man and hopes that there may be a chance for her to b...more

I really enjoyed this sequel to Moon Awakening. Remember Talorc? Well, his king apparantly thinks that having his betrothed get kidnapped and wed to the rival clan chieftan was poor form, so he sent another to him. It is Emily's half-sister Abigail! The one who she was trying to protect in the first book! But Abigail's mother is an evil woman who tells the king he must send her daughter to the Scottish laird. Abigail's big secret is that she is deaf; a fever stole her hearing when she was 10. Bu...more
I simly LOVED this book! so much I actually kept reading 'till 5.34 in the morning to finish it, cause I just couldn't put it down!
We see the story mostly through Abigail's eyes. Abigail is Emily's sister, and thanks to her "loving" mother, who is trying to get rid of her, she is to move to Scotland and marry a complete stranger, trying to keep from him the fact that she's deaf, a disabilty considered by most a curse.

I was putting books on my database Sunday which can be a chore mainly because it is hard to find the names of the main characters sometimes. Anyway I was searching for the full names of the characters in Moon Craving by Lucy Monroe and I got hooked on the story. I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and had a wonderful love story and the premise was refreshing. I am not a big fan of Medieval historical romances but the setting in history did not over power the story. These characters a...more
Thanks to a recommendation at the Amazon Romance Message Boards (aka Wackadoodle Central), I bought and read this book last night. I have read some contemporaries by Lucy Monroe I really enjoyed, but never any paranormal books by her. Well, Moon Craving is the second in this werewolf series, and I lubbed this baby!

I read the first of the series last. Not my usual routine. I still enjoyed this book immensely. Abigail is an amazing character. She is deaf during an era when common belief is that one who becomes blind or deaf is controlled by a demon. She hides this "affliction" from her own people as her Mother abuses her and rejects her. Her only support is her sister who has been sent to Scotland and has married. Now Abigail is to be sent to the Scottish Laird that her sister was supposed to marry but did...more
I liked the characters. Abigail and Talorc (weird name huh) both had secrets and were afraid to share them with each other. When they find out each others secrets the question becomes how betrayed are they really? Does it make a difference in how they feel about each other?
This being only book 2 of a series it's obvious the author is still developing the mythology behind the characters being shifters.

I remember reading the first book in this series, Moon Awakening years ago and falling in love with it. I was so excited when it had book #1 by it-I couldn't wait to read about the other characters in this story. Little did I know how long I would have to wait. I want to thank all the fans who wrote to Lucky Monroe and asked for this book-in the dedications section of the book she thanked everyone who wrote in and begged for this story. I tried reading other books by her, but none of had the sam...more
Abigail was sick as a child and as consequence is now deaf. Church preaches that it is a sign of demonic possession, so she must hide her affliction by reading from lips. Shunned by her parents, her only comfort and friend was her sister Emily, who got married tot the highlander in Moon Awakening, the first book this series. Now Abigail is also sent to Scotland because her marriage is arranged by English king himself and should seal the peace between English and Scottish people. But how is she g...more
I am so loving this series. Moon Awakening was a great story. Moon Craving is even better. Ms. Monroe manages to show a woman who has hidden a disability her entire life as a strong heroine. I fell in love with Abigail. And Talorc definitely found a place in my heart, also. How can such a strong Chrete warrior be so sweet and kind? I recommend you read this story to find out. Well done, Lucy Monroe! I’m off to go find book 3 in the series.
The second book of this series. The interaction between the heroine and hero was pretty good. The random conflict near the end between two of the other characters took away from the story though. Also, the story sort of went against what happened in the first book (the hero had been previously told about the heroine's problem...but then forgot?).
an eye for an eye. a lie for a lie. okay, so both of them kinda lie to each other, but that makes them even, right ? no need to them the other for lying because they both should know that if they tell each other the truth before hand, i don't think the relationship will go as smoothly as now it is. but, i'm sure they will end up with each other anyway.
I would say this book was a solid 3 star read for the most part. I found the beginning a bit tedious and I'm not sure whether it was because I hadn't read the first book in the series or if the beginning just wasn't great. That being said, the book continually improved the longer I read it.
What ultimately made me give it an extra star was the secondary romance between Guaire and Niall. Having the two highland warriors fall in love was an unexpected but extremely pleasant surprise.

I would have given it a 5. But she forgave him too easily. Sigh... I was terribly disappointed because as to what I've imagined the anguish the hero would have undergone described in the summary, it was a really brief scene.
I really enjoyed this book. Though it is the second in a series, it is definitely stand alone. There was a surpising amount of sex throughout the story, but the scenes fit with the characters and the storyline. If you like your werewolves donning kilts, and some spice with your romance, I highly recommend this book.
i prefered the first book inthe series with emily's fiery character and want to hit Tarloc on the upside of the head when he is being so stupid but will keep an eye out for the next book
This is 4.5 stars. This was such a delightful book to read. It had some great warm and fuzzy moments for me. The only thing is I felt the ending was just a bit abrupt. Other than that I really enjoyed this book.
