This book by Ed Brubaker was reminiscent of Leonardo Dicaprio's character in Deaparted. This book is second in series of Sleeper comins. The storyline has thrill, mystery, sex and anticipation. The lead character Holden Craver is a double agent who, due to circumstances, becomes one of choicest killer of Tao (Tactically Augmented Experiment.) This book has a brief history of Tao's origins as a result of some experiments carried out. Tao, full of disdain for human race, in evil incarnate who does More...

What I hate most about "twists" in narratives is that the characters have to be dumbfounded by the new revelation. Unless the writer is good, this will always be disappointing because anyone can see the twist coming, and already should know what it is. Brubaker is smart enough to show the twist, but to add another layer to each turn that makes them different enough to spoil our expectations.

The second volume did a much better job of holding my interest, unlike many reviewers here I did not find the plot overly complicated. I was even a little sad when Genocide Jones kicked it. It makes me laugh that these big, tough violent guys are still motivated by love.

A friend suggested that if I liked Brubaker/Phillips newest comic, Incognito, I'd probably like Sleeper. Problem is, I started with book 2. Am now waiting for Book 1 to come in.

Again, some of the best comics writing I've experienced in a while. Really good job of having surprises around every turn.

Awesome series--"The Sleeper" (Vol. 1-4). Nice spin on the superhero genre. A bit gritty--in a good way.

The basic concept is interesting and there are some clever reversals, but it is loaded down by extraneous story elements, weird mythologies, etc.

Still good. The plot thickens, and all.
