It was okay. I found out about it because of an article on Slate.
The premise didn't make a lot of sense to me. I know that at a certain age, and I'm assuming that 25 is old enough, you can decide not to have secret service protection,as long as you are not the president or vice president. This is according to Ron Reagan, son of Ronald Reagan and he and his wife eventually did decline protection while his father was in office. I don't know if his father had to okay it or if the decision was left...more

Ok so this was my first outing with Radclyffe and I don't know why I haven't read her before. I think the name was throwing me off, kind of sounded like the books were written a long time ago but I was pleasantly surprised. I fell in love with this series in first couple of pages. The richness of the characters mixed with the ever surging storyline. Blair Powell is the presidents daughter and before that the vice president's and before that the governor's so she is used to being in the spotlight...more
Maybe it's something about books with "Honor" in the title (see also the series by David Weber that I'm slowly working my way through) but having found the first three books in this series and read through them at a clip in the past few days, I'll certainly be buying the rest, and the Justice Series, and probably the First Responders series as well. I'll have to ration the buying out as rewards, but I definitely want to read more of these.
I surprised myself and quite enjoyed this book. It is in the dyke-tective mould, although the lead character is an FBI agent assigned to protect the US president’s daughter. The characters were defined, if implausibly good looking, and their motivation justifiable. The plot was well paced and followed a strong narrative thread. The downside to this type of fiction is that it becomes clichéd and Radclyffe falls into this trap by having all her women wear close fitting trousers that show off their...more
I truly took in to consideration the comments left by other readers. I can see how some may hate Blair, but I don't feel it was overly done. I have mixed emotions about Blair. Sometimes I did dislike her actions. Other times I felt sorry for her and the situation she's in. I love Cam's handsome a$$ lol. She also has a lot to deal with and move on from her past. Radclyffe does a great job with introducing the supporting characters as well. I feel all them have layers that we have yet to discover....more
I wanted to like the Honor Series - especially since I loved the provincetown tales and the justice series - but I can't get past this first book! Blair - what an annoying, narcisstic pain in the ass! Cam was okay, but I really couldn't see what attracted her to Blair, and that bothered me. This whole story seemed forced. A good premise, not the best execution. Definitely not what I expect from one of my favorite authors.
I really liked this one ... of course I havent read a Radclyffe book that I havent liked yet. That being said my only complaint would be Blair! I loved Cameron she was very relatable, the story was laid out beautifully and didn't feel rushed at all, very natural flow. But Blair made me want to smack her, she was a whiney, spoiled, brat, while I understand being under constant watch would be difficult she seemed to have no care at all that her actions effected other peoples lifes and not just her...more
After reading the first chapter I knew I had to keep reading the book to finish. After I read the first book, I knew I had to finish the series.
I really like Radclyffe's style of writing and how developed the characters are. Yes, the book may have been a little clichéd, but I think that can be overlooked because it is a fabulous story and well paced.

This book grew on me the more I got into it, until at the end, it was a very rewarding experience.
The initial set-up was interesting but not ground breaking, but the characters and the writing are superb and made me go out and buy the rest of the (long) series.
The romance is believable and characters act in a manner that allows the welling suspension of the disbelief necessary for the plot to convince you that it just might happen.

I have read the Honor Series more times than I can count but Above All, Honor will still always be my favorite. Rad has always managed not to just tell a story but paint a story full of characters you not only love but want to fall in love with. Cameron Roberts is one of those characters. When her sense of duty and conviction butts heads with Blair Powell, a woman who goes out of her way to break the rules, the chemistry between the two is off the scale. Read it and you'll be an Honor fan for l...more
I think I have a new author to obsess over. :)
This book reminds me a lot of the early In Death books by JD Robb--so much of the book is setup, but you don't really notice because it's so well written. Cameron's a great character. I may be a little bit in love. *g* I don't quite have a handle on Blair yet, and I'm not sure how this whole thing is going to play out, but I have, what, six or seven more books in this series, so I'm settling in for the long run.

This was my first read from Radclyffe and it won't be the last! The characters in this novel are very easy to identify with. I found it very hard to put this book down, I'm addicted to this writer!! I cannot wait to read the entire series, I hope thud other books in the Honor Series are just bas intriguing as this one. My only complaint if any would be how often it was mentioned that one had to protect the other.
