Little Bear is at it again, this time wanting to learn about love.

Using the antics of a set of mischievous otters, Grandpa Bear tries to explain what it means to love others - even when they annoy us.

What I Really Liked
I like the Little Bear series because the illustrator, Laura J. Bryant is incredible. Her illustrations are both beautiful and detailed. I LOVE picture books and this illustrator rocks.

Little Bear goes fishing with Grampa Bear but the Otters were so playful and mischievous that Little Bear just knew they would chase all the fish away. Grampa sensed that Little Bear was getting upset at the Otters. Grampa decided to have a talk with her about sharing the love of God.

The story is very endearing. I could almost hear the tone in Grampa Bear's and Little Bear's voices. Grampa being loving and patient, Little Bear being curious and sometimes confused. Grampa does a wonderful job get
What an absolutely delightful children’s book. This is my favorite of Lisa’s children’s stories so far. In a fabulous and adorable manner Grampa explains to Little Cub why and how God gave us love. The pictures are too cute if you take the time to see the side line stories and hear the slight whine and pitch of Little Cub’s voice. I absolutely love one picture that sent me into fits of laughter with snowballs. *wink* I treasure this book and I am so glad I have this story to be able to share one ...more

I’ve been buying children’s books since 1983 and I can honestly say I wish that Lisa Bergren’s board books had been around then. I’m a very visual person and absolutely love the illustrations in these books! The colors are soft and draw just enough attention for the young eye. Not too busy but satisfying for the curious little mind. Some books need to be bold and bright but with the sweet and loving words that are contained in the pages of these board books I personally feel that’s not necessary ...more
The children’s book God Gave Us Love, by Lisa Tawn Bergren and illustrated by Laura J. Bryant, follows Little Cub on his discovery on what “Love” means. Fishing with his Grampa, Little Cub gets becomes frustrated by some noisy otters. Grampa takes the opportunity to teach Little Cub a little lesson about sharing and a big one about love. Grampa will teach both Little Cub and your child how God created us to love. The reader will also learn how there are different kinds of love, and how always lo ...more

God Gave Us Love by Lisa Tawn Bergren is a touching book sure to serve as a reminder to young children that they are all loved and the greatest gift they can give is love. The illustrations are by artist Laura J. Bryant and add a visual sense of warmth that works with the words to make for a simple yet powerful message relayed from a grandfather to a grandson.

The message of this book comes through loud and clear, “God gave us love.” As Little Cub and Grandpa work through the day they learn about

In God Gave Us Love by Lisa Tawn Bergren, Little Cub is on a fishing adventure when the interruptive otters scare the fish away, leading Little Cub to admit that liking the otters is sometimes hard. Grampa gently reminds Little Cub that spending time together and sharing love is far more important than catching fish. Thus begins Little Cub's lesson about God's great love and the different ways it is displayed in relationships.

God Gave Us Love is a super-cute book with an important message about
My Review: Little Cub went fishing with her Gramdpa and notices that the otters were scaring away the fish and was worried that they wouldn’t get any fish. Gramdpa told Little Cub that it was alright to share but Little Cub told Gramdpa that she didn’t like the otters for scaring the fish away. He explained to her that God wants us to show the otters love and that God would want us to love everyone.

I liked that he went on to explain that God created us to love and that there are different kinds
- I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. –

My son and I have read other books by this author before - we've checked them out from the library - and I'm always pleased. The illustration never disappoints, and my little guy always enjoys them, so I was excited to read this book with him.

I'm very picky when it comes to what I expose my child to, religiously especially. I'm not as fundamentalist or traditional in my understanding of Christianity as m
I have read one other book in the series, God Gave Us You, and absolutely loved it! This book did not disappoint in its wonderful message about different kinds of love. I liked that it had a grandparent spending time with his grand-cub; grandparents play such an important role in the lives of grandchildren. Little Cub asks Grandpa Polar Bear important questions about love that I'm sure I will be asked one day by my little girl. Grandpa Polar Bear explains different kinds of love: between moms an ...more
This wonderfully illustrated board book is all about love - God's love for us and our love for others. The most important message of the book is of Salvation, given in a simplified version for younger children. Adult readers are given a starting point in the book, "But most of all, "Grampa said, "we know God loves us because he sent his Son to save us..." It's up to them to discuss this more at the child's level of understanding.

The main characters, Grampa and Little Cub, encounter otters while
When I pick up a kid’s book, I’m looking for a few things. The first thing is good illustrations. You can say all you want to, but small children aren’t going to care what it says if the pictures are off. Second is the content; is it interesting? age appropriate? do I agree with what the author is saying?

I think the best part about this book is the illustrations. They are fun, colorful, detailed, and go along appropriately with the words.

The content. Well, it meets one out of my three criteria

Heads up to all Mommies of tiny tots!! This is a delightful and lovely little board book just the right size for those little chubby hands of your little one to grasp. He or she will toddle around with this lovely book learning about showing love, God's love, to others.

"The story" involves Grampa Bear tenderly explaining to Little Cub that even though Little Cub doesn't love the unbearable antics of the group of beavers romping in the fishing hole and scaring away the fish, he can still love the
When I review a children’s book the very first thing that I look for is the artwork. Is it cute and colorful? Does it capture a child’s attention and draw him into the story? Is it GOOD artwork? If all of these answers are yes, then I concentrate on the content. The reason I do that is because no matter how well the story is written, if the artwork is not good, it will not be a good book. The same goes for content—you need a good story to tell in order to make a good book. This one has both—grea ...more

My Review
This was my first time reading Lisa Bergren and I was not disappointed :) The story begins as Little Cub and his Grampa are fishing when they are interrupted by otters, making Little Cub frustrated and prompting Grampa to explain what God’s love is all about.

This children’s story effectively teaches about love in three relationships:
love between grandpa and grandchild
love between mom and dad
love bet
Out fishing with Grampa Bear, Little Cub isn't happy when playful otters scare the fish away. But Grampa Bear tells her she has to love the pesky animals, even though they're annoying, and different from her. Little Cub being the inquiring little mind that she is, this leads to a whole bunch of questions and answers.

She doesn't want to love the otters like Mama and Papa love each other—all that kissy and huggy stuff. Grampa Bear patiently answers her questions and provides wonderful, wisdom-fill

This is a wonderful book with a magnificent art and will make an unforgettable gift to any child and he/she will ask you to read it until the book is completely worn out.
The presentation is gorgeous: a hardcover book with a beautiful art in the cover and inside. The content is great. The book is written in a very easy language appropriate for children. GramPa Bear gently explain to his Granddaughter Bear the different types of love and the importance of sharing God's love for his creatures.
This board book is about how much God loves us and how we can share His love with others. It uses a little girl bear and her grandpa to illustrate these things.

I have a five year old son and a three year old daughter. So I read this book to them one evening and asked their opinions.

My opinion - The artwork is really great. The premise for the book is a great idea, but I felt like it might be a bit over my children's head. It's a board book so it seemed deeper than the type of book it was present
“God Gave Us Love” is an excellent book for children (and some adults) that explains God’s love and His desire for us to love the same way, in a straight-forward, hard to misunderstand style.
The author, Lisa Tawn Bergren, has taken a difficult subject for some to get a handle on and stated it simply, yet not in a manner that demeans the subject.
I also found that the illustrations by Laura J. Bryant were an excellent complement to the text.
Written for the youngest of readers, this is an excellent
I love the God Gave Us books by Lisa Tawn Bergren. They are favorite books for my kids even though they are ages 8 and 5. God Gave Us Love board book is best for those tiny little toddlers, however, the story is great for any age. This book teaches us how God wants us to love those that find difficult to love as well as those that it's easy to love. It's a great reminder to love all those around us.

I thought the message of how God loves us therefore we are called to love others was portrayed in

Beside making sure there is good food for my Turtle, I pray he is instilled with a love of reading. His mom loves to read so I know she understands this importance. I am going to send him a lil cardboard book that him mom can read to him at night. It is one of Lisa Tawn Bergren's classics "God Gave Us Love". This will be my Valentine's gift to my lil Turtle. This series is completely adorable!! This story is so well written and easy for a child to understand. It also uniquely tells the story of love, and the different types of love that you can feel in a way that the little "human cubs" can understand. This is a great way to explain God's love for you ~ when you show love your sharing his love for you!! This is such a loving story that I will be sharing with my daughter (and future "human cubs") for a long time to come! My little loved all of the il ...more

God Gave Us Love by Lisa Tawn Bergren & illustrated by Laura J. Bryant is a wonderful addition to the Little Cub polar bear series. First Mia's review: I love the book so much!! It's very cool, and my favorite page is the one with the group hug. Group hug, everybody! I liked the part that said that Jesus loves us, even when we do something wrong, no matter we do. Now my review: This book couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Mia has been struggling with some self-esteem issues, so the m ...more

"God Gave Us Love" by Lisa Tawn Bergren is an adorable children's book featuring the Bear family. While Little Cub is fishing with Grandpa Bear, some otters come to play by them and start to scare off the fish. When Little Bear starts to get frustrated, Grandpa Bear gets Little Cub to understand that God loves us all even when we are being mischievous and that it is our duty to try and love others as unconditionally as God loves us. Little Cub discovers what it means to love all people and creat ...more

Achei o livro fofinho e gostei da mensagem. Uma colecção que vou tentar acompanhar :)
"God Gave Us Love" is a sweet, sweet little book with a wonderful message about the love of God for his children. It shows us that there are diffrent kinds of love. I like the sentence, "He ties us all together like the strings on our snowshoes, heart to heart." The text tells us how God's love brings out the best in us!

I enjoyed reading this book to our younger grandchildren so much . . . and enjoyed the children's talk about how we can love in different ways.

Another beautiful written story by Lisa Tawn Bergren, takes the reader on a timeless message of unconditional love. Little Cub has lots of questions about how do we really know God loves us and her very wise Grandpa does his best to respond with answers that reflect biblical truths: God always hopes for the best in us; He's always with us; He sent His Son to save us.

I loved the warm illustrations by Laura J. Bryant, especially the family of polar bears "group hug". I love Biblical stories, espe

This is my first book to win from the Goodreads Giveaways and I was so excited to receive a children's book. The illustrations are beautiful and do a great job of complimenting the story. My daughter is almost two years old(she loves books) and this book is a bit over her head as far as some of the more in depth meanings of "love" as referenced in the story. I have to agree with a previous review that I could only get a few pages into the book, reading the story word-for-word, when she would los ...more
