Out fishing with Grampa Bear, Little Cub isn't happy when playful otters scare the fish away. But Grampa Bear tells her she has to love the pesky animals, even though they're annoying, and different from her. Little Cub being the inquiring little mind that she is, this leads to a whole bunch of questions and answers.

She doesn't want to love the otters like Mama and Papa love each other—all that kissy and huggy stuff. Grampa Bear patiently answers her questions and provides wonderful, More...

In God Gave Us Love by Lisa Tawn Bergren, Little Cub is on a fishing adventure when the interruptive otters scare the fish away, leading Little Cub to admit that liking the otters is sometimes hard. Grampa gently reminds Little Cub that spending time together and sharing love is far more important than catching fish. Thus begins Little Cub's lesson about God's great love and the different ways it is displayed in relationships.

God Gave Us Love is a super-cute book with an important mes More...

What an absolutely delightful children’s book. This is my favorite of Lisa’s children’s stories so far. In a fabulous and adorable manner Grampa explains to Little Cub why and how God gave us love. The pictures are too cute if you take the time to see the side line stories and hear the slight whine and pitch of Little Cub’s voice. I absolutely love one picture that sent me into fits of laughter with snowballs. *wink* I treasure this book and I am so glad I have this story to be able to share one More...

Beside making sure there is good food for my Turtle, I pray he is instilled with a love of reading. His mom loves to read so I know she understands this importance. I am going to send him a lil cardboard book that him mom can read to him at night. It is one of Lisa Tawn Bergren's classics "God Gave Us Love". This will be my Valentine's gift to my lil Turtle. When Little Cub and Grampa Bear’s fishing adventure is interrupted by mischievous otters, the young polar bear begins to que More...

I love the God Gave Us books by Lisa Tawn Bergren. They are favorite books for my kids even though they are ages 8 and 5. God Gave Us Love board book is best for those tiny little toddlers, however, the story is great for any age. This book teaches us how God wants us to love those that find difficult to love as well as those that it's easy to love. It's a great reminder to love all those around us.

I thought the message of how God loves us therefore we are called to love others w More...

God Gave Us Love by Lisa Tawn Bergren is a touching book sure to serve as a reminder to young children that they are all loved and the greatest gift they can give is love. The illustrations are by artist Laura J. Bryant and add a visual sense of warmth that works with the words to make for a simple yet powerful message relayed from a grandfather to a grandson.

The message of this book comes through loud and clear, “God gave us love.” As Little Cub and Grandpa work through the day th More...

"God Gave Us Love" is a sweet, sweet little book with a wonderful message about the love of God for his children. It shows us that there are diffrent kinds of love. I like the sentence, "He ties us all together like the strings on our snowshoes, heart to heart." The text tells us how God's love brings out the best in us!

I enjoyed reading this book to our younger grandchildren so much . . . and enjoyed the children's talk about how we can love in different ways. More...

This is my first book to win from the Goodreads Giveaways and I was so excited to receive a children's book. The illustrations are beautiful and do a great job of complimenting the story. My daughter is almost two years old(she loves books) and this book is a bit over her head as far as some of the more in depth meanings of "love" as referenced in the story. I have to agree with a previous review that I could only get a few pages into the book, reading the story word-for-word, when More...

I won this children's book through a Goodread's giveaway, but I put off posting a review because I didn't like it very much. I read dozens of children's books to my kids every week (we are library frequenters), and they are of varying quality. The best tend to be clever, subtle, and work on several levels. This one is none of those things. I do not mind a book that is scripturally based, or one that teaches about God's love, but this book comes across almost preachy. Instead of the warm fee More...

I’ve been buying children’s books since 1983 and I can honestly say I wish that Lisa Bergren’s board books had been around then. I’m a very visual person and absolutely love the illustrations in these books! The colors are soft and draw just enough attention for the young eye. Not too busy but satisfying for the curious little mind. Some books need to be bold and bright but with the sweet and loving words that are contained in the pages of these board books I personally feel that’s not neces More...

It is an absolutely adorable children's book about Gods love and loving one another. The illustrator also did a wonderful job.
The book starts out at a fishing trip with a grandpa bear and a cub, sharing with the otters and loving one another. It goes on to talk about the difference with the love between families and others in our lives, and how to share and show love, and if there's anything we can do to make God not love us (of course not).
My three year old son loves this story. More...

God Gave Us Love is written by Lisa T. Bergren and illustrated by Laura J. Bryant. The plot is simple and easy to understand, perfect for a children's book. The art is beautiful and eye catching. Basically, Little Cub gets a bit perturbed at some pesky otters and her grandpa has to remind her about love. They go on a journey where Little Cub learns about God's love and how she should act towards others.

I found the illustrations from God Gave Us Love pleasing and pretty, and I found More...

I won this book in a goodreads giveaway. Though it has a good message, the message gets overdone and lost in text that is much too wordy for a board book. My daughter who is 22 months old sat through the whole book, but it is way over her head and told in a way that much too complex for her age group to understand. My son is 5 and seems old enough to understand what the book is saying, but had absolutely no interest in it. In the grand scheme of things, I can say I'm definitely glad it was f More...

God Gave Us Love by Lisa Tawn Bergren & illustrated by Laura J. Bryant is a wonderful addition to the Little Cub polar bear series. First Mia's review: I love the book so much!! It's very cool, and my favorite page is the one with the group hug. Group hug, everybody! I liked the part that said that Jesus loves us, even when we do something wrong, no matter we do. Now my review: This book couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Mia has been struggling with some self-esteem issues, so the messa More...

I received this free book in the mail yesterday and thought it was a delightful read. I will be putting it in the church library for the children to read. I think they will like the pictures in this board book. Lisa Tawn Bergren presents the timeless wisdom that God is love. As grandpa bear so succinctly states "Any time we show love we're sharing a bit of his love." And what a perfect way to start the New Year with this message.
This book was won in the Goodreads giveaways.

Wonderful little book for chubby young hands! Great message explained so little ones can understand. Beautiful bright colors to draw their eyes to what is being talked about. Also delightful illustrations highlighting the great message in this book "God's Love!"
I highly recommend this book for the little ones in you life...ages 0 to 3.

I received this book from First Wild Card Tours and Waterbrook Press, and was not required to give a positive review.

This is a sweet book that teaches about the love that God has for all His children. It helps little ones to understand the unconditional love that our Heavenly Father gives us, no matter what we do. It encourages faith, patience, kindness and trying one's best to make the right choice. It leaves the reader with a warm feeling at the end! Thanks Goodreads for providing this book through the First Reads giveaway program.

The illustration is nice, but the hidden agenda is malicious and evil.

This is one of the tools for brainwashing children into believing a god of bad religion Christianity. The intention is bad and although the illustration is not bad, the evil behind this book should make it to the catogory of bad not suitable for children.

The tone is very preachy and it is really offensive religious bullshit.

I loved the illustrations and the message of this book. It's a message we have already tried to teach all our children. We sat down with our 3 year-old and 5 year-old to read this book. They love story time and usually enjoy reading 6-7 books each night. But this beautiful message was just too long for them. We only made it through half of the book before they were begging for a different story.

Even if younger children miss some of the more in depth meanings of love, they will certainly understand that they should love everyone - even the otters who scared away the fish. This is another charming book in the series and well worth your time and money.

I won this book for my four year old in the Goodreads drawing.
She loves it. She especially loves the artwork by Laura J. Bryant.
It is a cute story which led to discussions about all the people in our lives that we love.
We won the book a few months back but really got into re-reading the book over the Christmas holidays. Now it is one of her favorites.

such a sweet and thoughtful story....really puts a wonderful emphasis on the importance of treating others well....something that seems to becoming a rarity in this world of ours....my little girl loves the pictures of all the sweet animals, and I love reading her stories that help her think about the importance of being kind, even when others are not.

My 4 1/2 year old daughter loved this book. It led us to several discussions about God and love and how there are many different kinds of love. I think she really "got it". My 2 year old didn't get the story but he enjoyed looking at the pictures anyway. This was one of the first really meaningful children's stories that I've read in a long time.

Adorable illustrations, this book exuded coziness. An almost perfect winter read. It seemed this book was on the verge of keeping the aspect of God broadened, which I was hoping for, until the very end when she adds in the part about God's son saving us. Don't get me wrong this book has a very good message, without being too preachy, but it would have been perfect without that one sentence. It might just be me, but I think the universal idea of God would be a refreshing change from most religio More...

I think this is an excellent way to broach the topic of loving those we have a difficult time liking with children. I'm sure this will lead to a conversation for the little ones, and a gentle reminder for those of us a bit older....we all need a reminder that we were given love dispite our faults -- we need to pass that on.
