Brennan and Rigby are best friends since forever. It's not clearly said, but I have the feeling that they come from middle-class families that probably lived in the same neighborhood and their parents were probably friends. For all their life, where it was Brennan there was also Rigby: schools, holidays and now college, always together and more or less in the same house or room. Even in college they are roommate. Brennan is the wiser and Rigby the happier. Brennan is gay and Rigby is straight. When Brennan came out to his best friend, Rigby said, cool, lets go eat a pizza. Rigby is so comfortable around Brennan that it's not important for him that his best friend his gay; his love for Brennan goes beyond their gender. They love each other so much, that it's almost incestuous to think that something could happen between them.

While Rigby loves Brennan like a part of himself, Brennan is like a brother, better Brennan is a part of his past, present and future, Brennan loves Rigby like a gay man can love another man. Brennan compares every man in his life with Rigby, and every man looses in the comparison. So when Brennan finds a list by Rigby, a "things I have to do" type of list, and he reads that his friend is open to the chance to have sex with a man, Brennan jumps in: he offers to Rigby to be his training ship. Problem is that Rigby doesn't even remember the list, and when Brennan offers himself, it makes Rigby sees his best friend Brennan with different eyes. Brennan has never talked about sex with him even if he has always listened to Rigby's past experiences with girl. Till that moment, Rigby probably has never ever realized that Brennan has a sex life, and that sex life is something Rigby has no part in. It's some side of Brennan's life that he doesn't know, and he doesn't like that: Brennan is him, and he has no right to give himself to someone else.

Now, don't get me wrong, Rigby is not possessive of Brennan in a selfish way; probably if Brennan had a steady relationship with a good man, maybe Rigby could be fond of the idea. But what he is learning about Brennan is about one night stands with strangers in the backroom of some bar. This is no acceptable, Brennan is better than that. Rigby has really at heart Brennan's good, even more than Brennan himself. For example, while Brennan is willing to let Rigby experiment, for the chance to have at least some fond memories, Rigby feels that it's not right for Brennan. What I liked most is that Rigby didn't jump to the obvious conclusion without thinking, he pondered his choice: Rigby had some expectation on his future, a family, children, things that, if he plans a relationship with Brennan will have to change. But again Rigby proves to be more than the happy-to-go guy that he seemed at the beginning of the story: in a way he is way more wiser than Brennan.

The story is a perfect example of two favorite gay romance subgenre of mine, "Friends with Benefits" and "Gay for You". Rigby loves Brennan despite his gender, Rigby is not gay, but he is not even straight; he could be bisexual, but he is planning to have a monogamous relationship with Brennan... so what Rigby is? He is simply a man in love, a man that wants the best for his partner, even if the best for Brennan means that Rigby has to renounce to something he considered important. In the balance of life, Rigby arrives to the conclusion that it's better to follow his heart.

You probably have understood that I'm very fond of Rigby. It's not that Brennan is not a good character, I like also his mix of pretty boy who has the potential to be a strong man; I like how he was always basically faithful to Rigby, if not with his body at least with his heart. I like him above all since he was able to inspire such a devotion in a man like Rigby. But as I said, I think that Brennan is not so wise as he looks, that he really needs someone like Rigby beside him, someone who forces him to face the truth and not to hide; if left alone, Brennan tends to shield against the world closing himself in a ball and not letting anyone inside.

As I said, this is a very romantic story. I like the setting, College, I like how young the characters are, how everything is still possible for them. I like the feeling I had at the end of the story, that this two boys will become happy and strong men, and that probably the life will be good for them.

Another great effort from Kim! I read this one in one sitting and didn't put it down until the last page. Longer than some of her other books it was well fleshed out and interesting from start to finish.

This is a Gay For You storyline that is pretty endearing. Although the D/s power struggle that is part of all of KD's past m/m efforts is represented, it is less of the focus and sometimes sidetracks Brennan's story a bit. Excellent m/m romance about two guys - one gay, one straight - who have been best friends since they were small and are now roommates at college. The whole romantic relationship seems like a negotiation to me rather than something natural and built on emotions... Also, yes these characters are best friends, but I only know that because it is stated that they are best friends. I would have liked to have been shown this rather than told this

I've read the short-story follow-up, but I'd really like to catch a glimpse of them a few years down the road (hint, hint if you read these reviews, Ms. Dare... even just a book with them as secondary characters that shows them later would be wonderful :-) - hey, a girl's gotta try, right?).

This book can be summed up thus: Rigby & Brennan; Brennan & Rigby. That's it. This book can be summed up thus: Rigby & Brennan; Brennan & Rigby. That's it. More can (and will) be said about it, but, really, it's just them.

Time to Do may be classified as GFY, but I think it's really LFY - Love For You. It isn't about loving men or loving women; it's about loving a person to the point that gender doesn't matter.

Rigby made his "to do" list because he wanted to understand Brennan and decided to follow the list to ease the awkwardness created by their kiss; he couldn't stand for there to be any distance or problems between them. Brennan agreed to go along with the list because it was his one chance (he thinks) to be with Rigby - he knows he'll never love anyone else and has to pack a lifetime's worth of memories into each list item.

I love that Rigby doesn't do the long, drawn-out "OMG - I'm hot for a GUY" thing (sometimes that's fun to read, but it's a nice switch-up not to have it); he knows it's because it is Brennan, not because he's attracted to men. I love that, when Brennan finally confesses the whole truth of his feelings, Rigby doesn't flip out; sure, he's shocked, but he immediately starts trying to find a way to make it right because, for Rigby, it HAS to be right for Brennan - everything else is just details. He never considers pushing Brennan away or ditching their friendship and gets pretty po'd at Brennan when he questions it. I love that Brennan feels every bit as protective towards Rigby as Rigby does towards him though in a more subtle way.

I know it sounds like all my love is for Rigby; it isn't - I adore Brennan; it's just that Rigby is the one who is new to all of this - being with a man, looking at Brennan in a new way (which he acknowledges really isn't new at all - just newly aware), and adjusting his views on forever, so his reactions to everything are in focus a lot more.

This is one that gets re-read a lot when I need a feel-good story.(less)

Yes, it is hard sometimes to swallow (no pun intended) gay for you stories but if anyone can get it right it is author Kim Dare. Time to do is the story of two best friends, one gay (Brennan), one straight (Rigby) and how both are unable to communicate exactly how they feel about the other. Bren gets up the courage to kiss Rigby which turns into several days of complete awkwardness between them which in turn morphs into Rigby suggesting and Bren agreeing to go through the to-do list to get it out of Rig's system to get them back to normal. Rigby is comfortable in his hetero status and feels that this is the way for him to take care of Bren in the way that he has always done.

When Rigby starts to fall for Bren, he comes to grips pretty easily with the fact that because he enjoys his time with Bren almost more than he ever enjoyed his time with girls that makes him bi.

Bren has a hard time accepting this. He's only ever had one night stands in the back rooms of gay bars in the next town over and always came home to Rigby. There are several misunderstandings between the boys and when Rigby makes Bren admit that he's been in love with him for years, Rig decides that he needs to fix this and that he wants to fix it by being with Bren full time.

Bren has an even harder time with this decision because he doesn't want to let Rigby break his heart when he decides that it's time to go back to his happy hetero ways. Rigby is the only guy with the ability to break Bren's heart and Rigby doesn't know what else he can do to make Bren realize that he is the only place Rig wants to be.

What the author does with this story is turn it around to make the gay boy the insecure one when it's usually the straight boy who has a hard time. I'm hooked and can't wait to get my hands on more books from her!

Okay, so it came as no surprise to me that I loved this book. As soon as I read the blurb: Kim Dare writing a friends-to-lovers! I knew I'd love it. My only question is how it took me so long to hear about this book!

I loved both Rigby and Brennan. Their friendship seemed believable, and I loved getting to read about that friendship developing into something more.

Very sweet story, but also a very hot one. It's best friends turn lovers with one of them being a classic straight guy who's only gay for his best friend.
I liked that the story would seem cliche, but I couldn't get bored with it, nor did I feel like I saw it a hundred times before because the characters were very vivid and the premise with the "to-do list" was amusing and original. I loved this book!!! My favorite theme of friends to lovers. Brennan and Rigby are great together!! I loved watching Rigby come to the realization that he wants Brennan. I also liked how level headed he was - especially since Brennan was so anxious about their relationship even if it was for all of the right reasons. I liked their interactions with each other - both dialogue and actions. Very, very steamy read:-)

This is a fun book exploring what might happen if the best friend of a gay man suddenly
decides he might not be completely 'straight' after all. In some ways it's a comedy of errors, but it's interesting to watch the characters come to terms with these new feelings they have for each other. It's a short read but fuñ for a 'happily ever after' ending!

I always love Kim Dare’s books! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the “gay for you” theme developed in this one. A really nice story about two best friends, one of whom has been in love with the other for years.

When Brennan realizes that Rigby has a to-do list which includes trying gay sex, all bets are off. The process of the two best friends becoming more is gradual. I liked how Kim Dare approached it, making the emotions of both characters clear and adding subtle elements of D/s without letting that aspect take over.

I'd have to agree with the reviewer who said this is a Love For You more than gfy. It's because it's Brennan that Rigby wants a man. He wants Bren. The on,y issue I had was my own- I kept reading the name as Rugby. So sweet and lovely
