I’ve got to say that I liked the first half part of it then the ending. I just kind of think that some parts of the book or more accurately the twists that the author think would make things complicated are just based on the characters insecurities and doubts about themselves, Charlotte not wanting to be like her mother who pinned for her absentee father when she realized that she’s falling for Roman Chandler, the guy she dumped before because of his strong resemblance to h More...

Will this bad boy make it to the altar?

Foreign correspondent Roman Chandler has always prized his freedom above all else. Now losing a coin toss has sealed this youngest brother's fate. Finding someone to escort down the aisle is the easy part—every wannabe bride in sleepy Yorkshire Falls is itching to get hitched to this gorgeous, globe-trotting Chandler man. But Roman still lusts after the woman who got away. Stunning heartbreaker Charlotte Bronson has come home to put down roots and More...

Chandler Brothers, handsome, honorable, charming, women magnets, all against marriage though... Their father died when they were young, and Raina, their mother, mourned for a long time... (hence anti marriage - anti hurt?)... and they all love their mother a lot...

Charlotte - her father left for Hollywood when she was young, her mother (frail and depressed) refused to go - but they still loved... he would come home periodically, and her mother was only really alive (lively) when he More...

Ah, I should have known better than to pick up a romance book. These just are not me :-) But it was in the pile given to me years ago and my compulsive nature would not let me skip it. Learned my lesson - again. I've just never been a romance gal. Even as a child my favorites were mysteries with perhaps a romance developing within the mystery, but certainly not the focal point. Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys - those kinds of things. Never did branch into the Harlequin Romance genre.

Hey, More...

I don't normally read romance novels, but I picked up this book on a whim. I was looking for a quick and enjoyable beach read; that's exactly what I found. The novel is set outside of my hometown (Albany, NY) which gained my interest from the start. The Chandler brothers are likable characters; I was completely entertained by their girl dramas. For those afraid to read it because it is labled "romance," it wasn't too steamy -- I'm the kind that gets a little embarassed by that. It wa More...

Another wonderful novel by Ms. Phillips. Her characters were especially interesting because each had a very specific background to him/her. Charlotte was commitment-phobic because of her celebrity father's tendency to leave and then come back while Roman was a travel-holic because he's trying to live both his as well as Chance--his older brother--'s dreams. When the two opposites fall in love, Charlotte is unwilling to give him a chance because she didn't want to end up like her mother, pining a More...

Hmm... not bad.... it was not as bad as some reviewers had pointed out... :) It is a light read, agreed.
Nothing deep on emotional ride.. The Chandler brothers are all likable characters..

Roman was good and the change he went through was believable too..

Charlotte was okay... I was kind-a irritated with her single-minded attitude towards every relationship. Not just hers, but even for her friend Beth's too.. She too was depressive woman like her mother... Or you could say More...

It's a fun silly romantic story that can keep a single girl dreaming that someday prince charming will come. Best to read during the summer!

This is a fun little read that would be great to take along on a trip or to the beach.

Roman Chandler is called home from his work as an AP reporter to look after his mother. She has been taken to the hospital thinking that she is having a heartattack. (turns out is was really indigestion, but she used this and her Dr's confidentiality to fool her sons and convince them to marry) Roman and his brothers flip a coin to see who should marry and have a child to fill their mothers fondest More...

Funny, the book is about a mom who wants grandchildren and misguides her 3 playboy sons into believing she has a heart condition. Which she feels grandchildren are needed before she leaves this earth. The sons flip a coin and the youngest looses. He resorts back to his high school days biggest crush. She has her own issues to deal with. He so stunning lives far away, she does not want to move her business. After the crazy life she lived with a depressed mom and deserting dad, she finds t More...

With Valentine's Day slowly approaching I felt like reading some light romantic novels , and what a better way to start with The Bachelor , by Ms Carly Philips . This was the first installment of the Chandler Series

This is the story about the youngest Chandler brother Roman , an international journalist who enjoys his job , his freedom and his bachelorhood more than anything , but everything changes when he was called back home for a family 'emergency' and More...

It has been a long time since I read this book even though I knew I had read it. But honestly after reading the reviews I did remember it. As with Phillip's books this was cute. No this will not answer all your burning questions of the universe but if you are anything like me I read to get away from the world and this book helps you do that. Roman and Charlotte are great together. The 2 other brothers are sweet and I can't wait to read their stories (Playboy and Heartbreaker). Enjoy!

It was really entertaining for those looking for something to cure their boredom. It was a little cliche and predictable though. From the moment Charlotte's name was mentioned to Roman Chandler, I knew they would definitely end up together. It took them quite a long time though for them to realize their feelings for each other even if it was really obvious from the start. The book may have its flaws but it was still fun to read. I would also like to mention that the love and devotion of the Chan More...

This trilogy was sweet and fluffy, and as long as you can suspend disbelief and get past the main premise - an adoring mother of 3 hunky bachelors wants them to get married and be happy (because those always go together, right?), so she fakes a heart attack and tells them she's dying and needs them to get married REALLY quickly, so she can see her grandchildren before she dies. Yeah, OK, I know. Really, I do... Once you get past THAT premise (see, this is why I haven't recommended these books to More...

Cute story, maybe slightly over a 3, but nothing extraordinary. I must say that I do love the Chandler brother's togetherness in this family. The romance is sweet but somewhat predictable.

One aspect of the story that surprised me was the story of Charlotte's parents. The actor who traveled the world while his wife stayed at home. Things aren't always what they apear to be.

Cliché'

Girl meets guy. They chase each other. Conflict arises. Yada. Yada. Yada. Eventually everyone lives happily ever after. (I've concluded this and I am only on page 14.)

I suppose this book isn't that bad. I've seen worse. I'm not even sure where exactly I obtained this book, but I thought I would give it a chance. I wouldn't exactly say that the writing is terrible, just the subject matter. The main character in the novel wants to marry someone who will take care of More...

This one had been sitting unread on my shelf for many years. Globe-trotting journalist loses a coin toss to his brothers and as a result has to go out a find a bride (so as to create grandchildren in order to please his supposedly ailing mother). Then he finds himself in love with the owner of the local lingerie shop. A few semi-wacky hi-jinks follow on the path to happily ever after. I do love me some happy endings! Apparently, this is also the first in a series featuring the three bachelor bro More...

A cute, quick read. Roman and Charlotte make a good couple. With just enough spit and vinegar to keep their relationship going good. I love that Charlotte has a lingerie store. The underwear stealing was a cute addition, though I had a feeling who it was. I look forward to the next book to see what happens to the next victim, I mean Chandler brother.

Book 1 in the Chandler brothers trilogy. This was the youngest and first to fall. The brothers are all brought together to grant their sick mother's fondest wish--a grandchild. All are confirmed bachelors, so they flip a coin to decide who will make the sacrifice and get married. Roman loses the toss, but quickly finds himself grateful to fate for putting him back in contact with Charlotte, the one that got away in high school.

It took me a while to get into this book for some reason. (I admit to being distracted with a million other things going on in my life while trying to find the time to read it.) It seemed redundant as to why the main characters had not yet come together - really, the point was driven home almost TOO much - and I was about to give up on it and then some hot & steamy scenes came along that finally kept my attention!! I feel like it took me over half way through the book to become hooked on the More...

I had read a later Carli Phillips and in the beginning of the book was the most amazing review from Killy Ripa saying how great The Bachelor was and how she made it a choice in her book club. Apparently, Kelly Ripa and I do not have similar tastes. It was a very fluff read with no real interest in the characters evoked.

OMG!! I laughed so hard!! Raina reminds me sooo much of my great aunt. I could actually picture her in some of the scenarios, especially when discussing "her condition". My mom is reading it now and she has called a couple of times just to laugh at some of Raina's conniving shenanigans! Roman and Charlotte are amazing. I loved the whole story!

A cute romance. It was a bit cheesy, but fun at the same time. Nice little escape. I do like the ones where the guy is in love first and has to get the girl to see it for herself. I'm not sure I liked the narrator. His female voices weren't that good. They tended to sound like the women were airheads.

I am indifferent to this book. While it was a quick easy read and kept me entertained I have no desire to read the other books in this series as it will be about another brother not looking for love and finding it. Too predictable and I am sure it will read the same way, differnt story.

It was okay...I liked the brothers' comradery. The other characters were a little too over bearing and whiney alot of the times...and who flips a coin to see which one is going to have a wife & baby just because the mother has a "heart ailment"???? All and all, not bad, but could have been better....

Loved this romantic comedic book...after finishing, I immediately downloaded the other rest of the 'Chandler' series ('The Playboy' & 'Heartbreaker') Strong, independent female lead character and a head-strong male lead who finally slows down enough to listen to his heart!

Roman Chandler, the foreign news correspondent, has returned home temporarily to find a wife and get her with child. He then intends to desert her and return to his own life of hunting down the next story. Admirably, he is doing this to appease his ill mother who wants grandkids before she dies. However, this scenario is hardly admirable. he's looking for a broodmare who will live alone with no assistance from her husband.

So I really can't say that I enjoyed this book. Roman i More...
