Travel Team
By:Jacob Wirth

The name of the book is Travel team and the Main character is a young boy that is small for his age. His name Danny, he is a big fan of sports and loves to play basketball. Danny finds out there are tryouts for the travel basketball team and wants to join, all he does is practice till it gets to dark and his parents tell him to come in for the night. “Danny would put chairs out there and dribble through them like he was dribbling out the clock at the end of t

When I read the book Travel Team by: Mike Lupica I was shocked because it was best book I have ever read. I've read a lot of books by him, and he is by far my favorite author.

This was the best book i have ever read. Danny Walker was my favorite character because we relate so much. We both are 14, get good grades, play sports, and are pretty short. Danny doesn't make the travel team the first time because he is too short.

His parents are divorced because his dad was at a bar and got drunk and

When he didn't makes the team, he felt confused. He later found out that he didn't make the team because he was to small. Danny's dad decides to make a team for him. I read the book called Travel Team by Mike Lupica. This book like many books has a purpose. The purpose of this book was to show to never give up no matter what the circumstance's are.

The theme is this book is to never give up at something you love and have a passion about. Danny Walker was a boy going into high school and was a star basketball player but when he got to high school he was a very undersized to compete at the level of high school level. He got cut from the high school team and di

Travel team by Mike Lupica is a very good book. Its about how he was rejected from his town's travel team because he was so short. He feels like he wants to give up on basketball but his friends and his mom and dad try to get him to do the YMCA league. But then his dad, who played for a professional team before he got into a car accident, decides to start their own travel team. They qualify for the league and their first games they get demolished. They lose all of them. The rest of the book is ...more

This book is about a 12 year old basketball player named Danny. He is a point guard just like his father was. Danny practices all day and night but constantly loses to his rival basketball team. But that all changes when his good friend joins with him. Danny is a superb passer and ends the final game with the game winning assist. The quotes I first chose was Danny talking about when he was practicing he said "Around the first chair through the legs past the second, and than the no look pass to t ...more

Travel Team by Mike Lupica

An inspirational sports novel written by Mike Lupica, Travel Team takes you through the life of a young adolescent boy, Danny Walker. Through the many tough obstacles Danny overcomes throughout the book, Lupica is able to display to the reader that having a never-quit attitude is the best skill one can posses, not only on the court- but off too.

Travel Team is not your typical sports story in the sense that it puts you directly in the shoes of an undersized 4’4” teen who

Personal Response:

I liked this book because it was about basketball. I like books that are about sports, because I can actually get my nose into them. The book was a longer book and it took me along time to read it, but it was a good book.

I really like this book. I liked this book because it was about basketball and in the book when he talked about the basketball games he would talk a lot at a time. I like the way it talked about his family and not just his basketball life. The way h

I loved Travel Team by Mike Lupica. This is just another one of his books and it doesn't fail to impress for me. The description and how he made it so real is amazing. I can also relate to this book because I for one am not the tallest person.

It's about a short kid in a small town called Middletown in New York. Danny, (the main character), is a twelve year old boy who is really short but really good at basketball. He gets cut by his local travel ball team that his dad took to the national cham

I really like this book because I like basketball, and in the book when he talked about the basketball games he would talk for pages at a time and describe exactly how the game was unfolding. I like the way it talked about his family and not just his basketball life. The way he talks about his life at school really intrigues me because it goes into more depth and helps you better understand why these things are happening. I especially liked the way it showed how him and his dad bonded with baske ...more

I thought that Travel Team was a great book about basketball. Danny Walker is like an orginary basketball player except one thing, he's really tiny so he doesn't think he's that good. It's a new season for Danny and he's really excited, but his team kicked him off because he was to small for the team. Danny and his father start a new team of their own, except they don't have good enough players. Later Danny and his team work together and they become better than they expected at the end of the se ...more

Travel Team is an over the top book written by, Mike Lupica. I would but this in the category of fiction. Being cut from the local Middletown travel team left 12-year-old, Danny Walker heart-broken. And on top of all that, his father was a great basketball star and got into an accident, which changed his life dramatically. Even though Danny got cut from the travel team it didn’t stop him from playing basketball, so he created a team of his own. Find out what happens on this basketball-filled sea ...more

Mike Lupica wrote this book to be an inspiration to many children all over. Danny Walker always grew up being the little guy and was said to have a disadvantage. He also got cut from the travel team he had been waiting to play for since he started playing basketball, because his dad played on that team and was their star player. When Danny got cut, this was a huge blow to his self esteem, considering his best friend was on the travel team. Against all of these odds, Danny was still able to be su ...more

A Review of Travel Team by Mike Lupica
Danny Walker was different from all of the other basketball players. Danny had known is whole life how small he was compared to everybody in his grade, from first grade on. How he had been put in the front row, front and center of every class picture taken. That didn't stop him from doing what he loves. Basketball.
In the novel Travel Team by Mike Lupica, the main characters are believable because Danny was the smallest kid in his grade and is one of the be

This book is very inspiring. The main character is Danny Walker. All of Danny's life, he has been told he is too short to be good at basketball. Danny is very good at handling the ball and was the point guard of his team. When he tries out for the town travelling team, he is told that he is too short to play, and they cut him from the team. His best friend Will is also cut from the team for being too slow, but their other friend Ty makes the team. Ty's dad is the coach, so it makes Danny and Will ...more

I read “Travel Team” by Mike Lupica. This book was very good. Danny Walker is a very short kid for his age, but that never stopped him. However, this year was different though. Mr. Ross the coach. His son is the best player on the team, and also Danny’s best friend. Mr. Ross told Danny he was not tall enough to play on this team. Mr. Ross never got along with Danny’s dad. Danny’s dad was the best player on their team and even played for an NBA team. Mr. Walker said that’s the only reason his son

Travel Team is an underdog story about Danny Walker, the shortest twelve-year old in Middletown. Danny is a gifted basketball player, but he’s got some big shoes to fill. His absentee father is a former pro ballplayer who might be best known for taking the local youth league to the national championships. Danny’s family situation is interesting enough, but the real story begins when Danny fails to make the town’s “travel team” of top ballplayers when the coach thinks that he’s just too short to ...more

Danny Walker, a very small basketball player, was cut from his traveling basketball team. He was a very good player, but he was to small. Danny specialized in passing the ball, he was one of the best passers for his age group. This book is very fun to read. What I like about the book is that there are tough challenges for Danny and his dad. The challenges they experience are family and his dad’s team, the Warriors. Danny’s dad, Ritchie, has been in two accidents which one had separated the family.

Travel Team is an excellently written book by Mike Lupica, a top Daily News sports writer. This book really got me thinking. Do you need to have certain traits such as height and strength in order to be good at a sport or is it decided upon what kind of effort you put in?

Anyway, this book follows the story of Danny Walker, a talented young basketball player who got cut cut from his 7th grade travel basketball team because of his height. Travel Team is

1.Travel Team is a book about a boy in 7th grade named Danny Walker. Danny gets cut from the basketball team so his dad decides to create his own. The team has other kids that didnt make the team, and some of Dannys friends. The moral os this book is that Danny finds out its not how big you are, it's how big you play.

2. I rated this book a 4 stars out of 5. Travel Team has a story line and is very detailed with what is going on durring the basketball scenes.

Travel team is a really good book. It gives a good lesson that winning isn't everything. Travel team also talks about how the underdogs will rise and that anything is possible if you put your mind into it. Danny Walker who is underestimated by coaches because of his height shows how good he is and how they had made a mistake not taking him in the team. All in all Travel team is a really good book and i recommend you all to read it.

This book is about a young boy whose dream is to become a professional basketball player. It describes his struggles and talents while he is working on his goal. The book started off slow, but as it developed I felt a connection to the main character. Now it is one of my favorite books and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the game of basketball.

Travel team is a heartwarming story about a 12 year old kid named Danny who gets cut from his 7th grade basketball team because he is to small. Danny's father was a star point guard in the NBA who left Danny and his mother when Danny was young but who came back to help Danny create a team of his own. This book frequently mentions the idea of never giving up and shows readers a lot of common household problems that families have to deal with. I coached a junior high basketball team to the state championship. Every year, I have to cut guys. I hate that!

Travel Team by Mike Lupica is a great novel about a young boy named Danny who plays Basketball. As a teacher, I would definitely recommend this book to my students. I wouldn’t require all of them to read it, but I think the boys who play sports would especially like this book. The main plot of the story would be very relatable to them, and they may even be able to predict what will happen next, giving them a sense of accomplishment. Overall, I thought Travel Team was a good book. Like most other books to me, it got off to a slow start, talking about backstory and information about the characters. Again, like most other books, it has its moments where you don't want to keep reading and you want to keep reading. I feel it is a good book for those who like basketball, and even those who do not like the sport might enjoy it, as I found the story to be kind of touching in some spots.
