I'm going to give this 2.5 stars because it seemed like the same-old/same-old ala oreo sandwich. There is a little bit of a terrorist catching thing going on but even then it didn't grab me. They did have an Arabian hero which is a nice change of pace. I don't see that in many books. The ending even was a little ho-hum to me. I think my problem may be I keep comparing these books to the Breed series, and I shouldn't do that. Or maybe I should. Maybe all of her books/series should be as goo...more

I started off really enjoying this book and thought maybe this book would end up being one of my favorites of the series. But it started to fizzle a bit toward the middle and the end. It was still a good read, but I thought it could have been better in a few ways, especially in one area.

After waiting for Khalid's book am just a tad disappointed. While the book was still enjoyable and i really liked the characters, i wish certain things had been different.

Why did it take almost to the end of the book for major issues to be resolved? I have no trouble with LL making me wait until the very end for the first "I love yous" if she wants, but to not reveal the secrets that cement trust so far into the book was too much. I won't go into a detailed synopsis of the story, the plot is basically the same as all the `Bound Hearts'; H/h coming together after being separated for years, some three-ways, and then the HEA. If you like LL, you will like this story. I was really glad that Khalid wasn’t psycho, like Cam and especially Chase Falladay. I loved the book, it was (overall) incredibly sexy and erotic, even though I had a couple of issues with it. One of the things that bothered me about this book was the same as in the last couple of BH books; that the three-ways took off before the relationship was barely established, and continued throughout the book for virtually every sexual encounter. Even with the first few encounters, Shayne was either participating in a limited way, -watching- (ick) them do it, and commenting from the sidelines on the action (double ick). I understand that three-ways are what these books are about, but the lack of a foothold in the romance of Khalid and Marty with each other made the early ménages a bit off-putting. I just wish there had been a bit more of the H/h romance. It was as if the titillation of the three-way took precedence over the relationship between the H/h. The other thing that really bothered me was the unrelenting nasty talk during some of the sex scenes. Both the men kept talking and talking about what they wanted the other to do to Marty's sweet little body while the other watched, and in really base, coarse, and graphic language. It wasn’t sexy or romantic at all. One or two scenes like that would have been fun, but not virtually all of them being like that. As a third, Shayne didn’t really cut it for me; he just wanted to get down and do it, and do it hard. He acted and talked like a teenager who got lucky. Khalid was romantic when they were alone together, but the three-ways were really raw scenes. This seemed so at odds with the tender, suave, and compassionate man and lover that Khalid had been when he was the third in previous books. Who was this Khalid? Once again, the titillation factor, but it just didn't fit the previously established character of Khalid. Why do all these characters have to have such a dark, tortured past? If LL would make the three-ways fun instead of a creepy, deep dark compulsion that these men have, they would go over as much more fun and playful scenes. These books can be, and should be, more fun than the disturbing August brothers. Of course, all this just my opinion, others may not even notice.

I love LL's books and Khalid has always been the favorite of mine. I was so happy to see him get his own book, even if some of the things in this story seemed (to me) to be out of character for him. There have only been two of LL's characters I have never really cared for, Cade August (I felt like he was a creepy slut-puppy bent on banging all the wives not because of the brothers `compulsion', but just because he could); and Chase Falladay (at the end of his book when he mused that he would like to have Kia with a different man each time, I'm sorry, but that just grossed me out. What a sleaze. Was he her lover or her pimp?).

The plot was pretty solid, who would have pegged Khalid for an FBI mole? A few spelling errors, and after her lady part being described as waxed early in the book, it was described as having 'curls' no less than three times later in the book. This action story was a bit more like her SEALS/Ops books than a BH. It is not a permanent ménage, for anyone who is wondering. Khalid liked having a third, and liked watching, but he was very possessive, and it was made plain it didn't have to be Shayne. I think Shayne is being set up for his own book soon. (Alyssa, maybe? She had her eye on him in the bar scene, and we already know her as someone with sexual and family issues.) Hope he does some growing up before then. The story is pretty exciting, and there is a definite, if rushed HEA. All in all, I highly recommend it, especially to those who have been bothered by a couple of LL's books lately that have seemed to be rushed to print. She is back in rare form, and I really look forward to her Special Ops, Nauti, and Breed books coming out in the next few months.

The plot was simple enough, and easy to follow. FBI agent Marty Matthews is ordered by her boss to trail sexy, 35 year old Khalid Mustafa, who is suspected of terrorist activities. Of course this isn't true, because Khalid happens to be working deep undercover for the FBI, and Marty knows this because her godfather happens to be the head honcho at the FBI, and they're keeping this info about Khalid super secret so he's able to infiltrate suspected terrorist groups. Anyway, virginal Marty's been fascinated with Khalid since age 15, and has held out for him for 12 years. Khalid has an interest in Marty too, but doesn't want to drag her (or any woman) into the vendetta that his two Saudi terrorist half brothers have against him. Marty knows all about Khalid's sexual proclivities of being the 'third' in menage relationships, since he's a member of 'The Club', a secret D.C. area club whose members all paticipate in menage relationships (her own parents are part of a threesome that includes her godfather), and that doesn't bother her. But she's tired of waiting around for him, and decides to make her move on him and see if she can win his elusive heart. Will Khalid cave and let Marty have her way with him? Will he be able to protect her when his brothers get wind of her importance to him? Will Khalid get over the guilt about a tragedy he was involved in over 10 years ago and allow himself to freely love Marty?

It's been a while since I've been 'wowed' by a LL book (Wild Card) so I was more than ready to be 'wowed'. Unfortunately, this one didn't quite make it. It had a promising start, sort of lost steam in the middle, and ended way too abruptly (and a bit unbelievably) and with lots of questions unanswered. I didn't quite feel the romance between Khalid and Marty either. LL spent almost no time on their backstory, other than to say that Marty was hung up on Khalid for years and Khalid had noticed and was attracted to Marty. Yeah, their love scenes together (and with Shayne, their 'third') were technically steamy hot (although Khalid seemed to spend an awful lot of time 'watching') and made good use of his limo, but I wasn't really as emotionally invested as I wanted to be--I just felt that I didn't know enough about them. Khalid had a very interesting beginning in life, and I thought LL was going to give more than a glimpse into it, but no dice. She barely touches on what his life was like when he first met his father at the age of 18, and his years before the tragedy (at age 25) that changed his life. There were just lots of questions that I had that LL never answered. And the same with Marty--just not enough backstory on her to make me feel like I knew her, or cared about her. Also, I can't believe that Khalid waited so long to finally reveal to Marty what the 'big secret' was that was wrecking his life. It just didn't make sense to me that he thought Marty wouldn't be understanding, and she definitely needed (and deserved) to know this secret so she could protect herself. And since I'm stating what I didn't like about the book, I might as well add that I'm getting tired of LL's characters always 'sneering' or 'glaring'--why are these people angry all the time?

So why do I keep reading Lora Leigh? Every so often she hits one out of the park (Wild Card, Forbidden Pleasure,Nauti Intentions), so I always have hope. Since I'm invested in this series, I might as well stick with it and hope that her next book (hopefully with CIA agent Shayne) is a winner. Despite having loads of potential, this one was just okay for me. 3 1/2 stars

This book needed a better editor--details that were mentioned in the first part were totally different later on. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I've read some reviews where people were disappointed with Khalid's story. I wasn't. My biggest gripe (aside from the usual lack of editing in a Lora Leigh book!) was the ending. There was this huge climactic scene with Khalid's brother and then BAM! - the book is over. Good read - not her best but pretty good. It had the Lora Leigh trademarks - hot sex with macho guys and lots of action - but it felt like half a book. Perhaps it was just that the end felt rushed.

On the plus side - Khalid and Shayne are both great characters, classic hero material. I liked Khalid fighting his own protective nature to let her be herself, and adventurous, risk-taking agent. Shayne is certainly being lined up as a future hero. I liked the heroine, Marty. She was ...more

Lora Leigh is my guilty pleasure. She has a talent for combining eroticism and suspense and pure human/Breed reactions in each series she writes. And if the adult film industry really wanted female porn, they would hire Lora to write scripts (yes, SCRIPTS) for them.

Cons: Why not 5 stars? I wanted Khalid's story and inner character to deepen earlier. It took to long. I really had given up on her taking Khalid where he needed to go. So much potential. She just put the sex first. With Lora Leigh it's all about way too much sex.

I'm having a bit of a difficult time rating and reviewing this book. Some parts of it were very well written while other parts of it seriously lacked. Especially the editing. There were grammar mistakes all over the place, including left out words and words used in the wrong tense. I'm having a bit of a difficult time rating and reviewing this book. Some parts of it were very well written while other parts of it seriously lacked. Especially the editing. There were grammar mistakes all over the place, including left out words and words used in the wrong tense. On of my biggest problems with Guilty Pleasure is the repetition and inconsistent change of description. For example, I would be willing to bet LL used the description of 'white-hot' at least 2 dozen times. I hate seeing repeated words in books. I feel like the author has a very limited vocabulary and I should mail her a thesaurus! Other parts that should have remained the same changed to much, such as people showing up to a place they are already at? It makes me think I'm not keeping up with the book very well, when in truth, its the author that can't keep up with book.

Khalid is the hero of the story, and like most hero's, he has a past. Marty has been in love with him since she was merely 15 years old, but Khalid has always kept his distance from her, knowing if he were to ever fall in love his woman's life would be the price. But when Marty seduces him, he can't help but to give her his heart.

The biggest disappointment of the book is the ending. The whole book was them searching for and running from Khalid's brothers, with lots of sex in between. And then, on pages 301-302, they went from making love, to confessing their love to each other, to being shot at. Then 8 pages later the book was over. It left me with more questions than it answered. How did Aman get past security? Are Abdul and Abram okay? Do they ever catch Ayid? How does Azir respond when he finds out that one of his sons has killed another? Why does Khalid tell Marty that its all over knowing that Ayid is still out there and still wanting them both dead? It left me disappointed and confused.

Other than the ending, the story itself lacked little. There was lots of sex, lots of fighting, more sex, a party here and there, and a little more sex. I really liked Shayne, I think he made a great third for Khalid and Marty. I typically don't buy into books with menages in them, I don't see how it could possibly ever work out when I feel like someone is going to end up jealous or left-out and lonely. I liked that LL didn't try to make me believe it was going to work out between them. I knew from the start the Marty's heart belonged to Khalid and that Shayne was there for mere sexual satisfaction. And let me tell you, it was satisfying. There is oral sex in public, limo sex, m/f/m sex, anal sex, and more all very, very graphic.

All in all, had the ending and grammar been better, this would have been a 5 star book for me. The characters were extremely likable and there was definitely chemistry between them.

This is the only book I've read from the Bound Hearts series. I didn't really have a difficult time catching up, so if you wanted to read it by itself it is definitely possible. I didn't know it was a series book when I bought it. Had I, I would have read them all from the beginning. :)(less)

But nothing on the level of LL's rushed writing and what seemed to be a complete lack of editing last year.

So, no glaring errors. Great. The story was familiar to previous entries in this series with an Alpha hero tortured by his past and to a lesser extent by his "dark" desire for menage. Then we have the heroine in danger, though Marty could take pretty good care of herself as a FBI agent. I liked that Khalid supported her career choices though he didn't like the risks involved.

The plot really doesn't make the most sense. Why would Marty be assigned to spend two entire years investigating Khalid to the apparent exclusion of any other cases? Why would Khalid enter into an affair with Marty after avoiding one for 9 years because he knows this will put her at grave risk from his enemies? Wouldn't it make more sense to finally take care of the enemies then go have fun with Marty? And of course, the ultra secret "club" that for centuries has hidden the secret of men who live a menage lifestyle, always strikes me as next to impossible in this day and age.

But I don't imagine most of us read Lora Leigh for the realism, so you either kinda "go" with the world and plot she offers, or you probably don't enjoy her very much. This story offers us Middle East terrorists who have a special vendetta against Khalid.

I liked the main characters. Khalid and Marty were well suited to each other in their strengths and respect for each other (their intense desire is a given). Shayne, the "Third" in the relationship, was more sketchily drawn. You got a better sense of Marty's interferring fathers than you did of the man who was supposed to be Khalid's and Marty's friend, colleague and periodic partner in bed.

The ending was very well done and ripped by in LL fashion of old. I wish she had an epilogue so you could see Khalid and Marty settling into their life together, and what was Shayne's involvement with them and what about Marty's nasty ex- bos at the FBI? Was he involved in any way with the terrorist plot? Still the immediate crises were resolved and it wasn't a terribly abrupt ending. I just would have liked some additional pages to wrap things up a bit more. Considering the Bound Hearts series is not my favorite, I enjoyed Guilty Pleasure especially the last 10% or so when the action really took off.

So, fingers crossed, maybe 2010 will be a much better year for Lora Leigh and her fans. (less)

Ok so I am going to give this book a 2 out of 5. I wasn't as impressed there was too much sex and I understand that it is a romance novel but still when there is more sex than story, the sex gets old quick. Kahlid was very mysterious and I didn't like that either. He was too mysterious and as his story slowly (and I mean slowly) I started to like him but I was 3/4 the finished with the book before his story fully came out. I also didn't like the way that he treated Marty like she was possession and not a person. I understand his love for her is extremely deep but she is a person not a possession. The father/godfather thing was a bit confusing at first and think it was unnecessary to have two dads but hey I am just the reader not the writer. I am not big on threesomes either so that kind of threw me off too. I recommended this book to my bestie because this is her kind of read but it just wasn't for me. I have read romance novels before but it was nothing like this. If you took the sex out the story was pretty good overall. You do see the way Khalid loved Marty in the ways that he tries to protect her. I enjoyed their love story very much and would probably recommend this book to the right person.(less)

Once again, as usual, the sex scenes were scorching hot and the "sharing" element was not really overpowering in this story. It was very much a side 'thing' that almost didn't need to be there, except for the importance it plays in the dynamics of these relationships in this Bound Hearts series. Dont get me wrong, those scenes were fabulous as well! Shayne was adoring and nurturing as a third for Marty. A good combination.

I didn't give it the final 5th star because A) I agree with some of the other reviewers, the last chapter ended so abruptly and there was no epilogue tying many loose ends together.... lots of unanswered questions....the trouble didn't truly seem to be "over" for me since we didn't get to find out how everyone else in the story got through the dramatic climax. And B) I personally missed hearing about the other wives and husbands from previous stories, as LL is usually so good about providing us. It was nice to get a glimpse of Mac from Forbidden Pleasure. That was a surprise. But still, no details what was going on with him. Would have loved to hear about Cam and Chase, since they are apparently heads of security at the Club and this was a story that would have warranted their participation. So perhaps it was a bit rushed. Its not like LL to leave us hanging like that. There must be a reason she steered things this way.... needless to say, alot of us are a bit perplexed and anxious for the next one..... who knows who it will be.

Don't miss this one though. If you are invested in this series, then you must read them all!! We've all loved Khalid along the way. It was nice to see him finally fall in love... (less)

Before I started this book, I read some mixed reviews saying Khalid deserved better. As I read the story, I kept waiting for whatever it was that occurred in the book, or a point where something felt really missing, to garner that comment. I never found it. I enjoyed the story. This was my first Bound Hearts book and I think that was a mistake. There were obviously characters that showed up in this book that were featured in other books and it would have been nice to know their story. It would have also helped knowing about the "Club".

Like other reviewers, I have enjoye Khalid's character in the prevous books, but this book just left me a little lacking. For me the book just seemed to end, could have used a little more.....something. I mean the issue of their mutual love for one another and the dangerous threat threatening them was all resolved in about five pages. I have waited for Khalid's story for a very long time and Ms. Leigh don't disappoint me. Khalid is all sexual, alpha male. He could be the dream man of so many women but he has only had one woman on his mind for a very long time. This book so lived up to it's potential and then some and it was Marty who made this so. She was hot feisty and stubbornly determined which made Khalid all the more luscious as he tried hard to support her instead of smother her. You dont need to have read any of the other books in this series to get this one so I say if you want a really good erotic suspense read this book NOW!!

Lora Leigh writes well, that there is no doubt about. However, I do not feel that she did justice to the MC in this book. I was really looking forward to Khalid's story and when I finally read it I found it to be somewhat insipid. Pity, but it won't put me off reading more of Ms Leigh's work.
