I aint so sure if its just because Im in the middle of my exam(examination, testing..?? or how you call it) period, but I have to say I loved the book. It really made my day, not thinking about something to read to school, just something easy, "without deeper meaning" but worth of reading.
There was romance, love, intriges, danger, "spirit-eaters", all kinds of difficulties. Excitement, sadness and all other feelings that were going through my body when reading this book. It was just perfect. I w

Blood Ties is definitely more exciting than the first book. The story really kicks off, Cassie shows a new side to her and Ranjit is acting strange. But he's cute so we'll forgive him.

Jake and Isabella are heavily involved in this one, and there is actually a pretty disturbing scene concerning soil.

The main reason I want the next in the series is to find out what the hell is going to happen with Cassie and Ranjit.
Cassie is a bit different since the last book but she try to remain as her own self, even though it's kind of hard since she now must learn how to deal with her "new" life. There are certain rules she has to follow but she has a hard time to accept them. And she can't just ignore the voice inside her either. Even though she doesn't want to feed but hunger as long as she can 'cause she can't stand the fact the fact the way she must feed - but she also know that she can't starve. She also discover ...more
The reason I am rating this book so highly is that I understand the correlation the storyline has with the real world we are living in. So in the first book, we find out there is a secret society within a prestigious school. But now we find out after these selected members graduate, they play a bigger part in the world. *AHEM* Illuminati *COUGH*. Those of you who's done research in that aspect would know what I'm talking about.

I love the Cassie character. She's strong-willed and powerful. I don

In Book Two we pick up after Christmas break and Cassie is on her way back to Darke Academy for her 2nd Term and this time is flying to New York. However this term as she returns to Darke Academy, she has a dark (no pun intended) secret. When she was initiated into the Chosen Few , she happened to become possessed by the Spirit of Estelle and became a life-sucker, an energy vampire. This term reunites three best friends Jake , Isabella and Cassie and of course , what would a term be without a mi ...more

I wasn't all that excited to start Blood Ties because it has been a while since I read the first book and I didn't remember much. I was even thinking about dropping this series because what's the point of continuing if I don't remember? I hate it when that happens. So I decided to continue. And I'm so glad I did!

I liked this book a lot more than the first one. As I said before, I couldn't remember much of what happend in the first book, but that wasn't an issue for long as I slowly began to reme
At the end of Secret Lives, Cassie was tricked by Richard and abducted by a small group of the Few who were under Madame Azzidene’s orders. A bound and gagged Cassie was forced to become a host for Madame Azzidene’s spirit Estelle. Ranjit, Jake and Isabelle interrupted the initiation ceremony in a rescue attempt and as a result only half of Estelle’s spirit fused with Cassie’s. In Blood Ties, the second installment in the Darke Academy series, Cassie is back at the children’s home on a Christmas ...more
So I am rather enjoying this series and I really like Cassandra she is such a strong charcter I love how she doesn't lean on a guy to give her strength like most female leads do. She isn't afraid to fight for what she wants and that is what really bugs me about Ranjit he is to rule obliging for me they said in the beginning that he is one of the strongest Few and that everyone fears him because of it yet he never does anything with his strength he doesn't even fight for Cassandra. In the beginni ...more
I liked this book alot better than the last, it had alot more action which keept me on the edge of my seat. 3.5 stars from me

Being a fan of a good Gothic series I am impressed by the fact that Gabriella Poole manages to still keep this hold in the follow up despite the changing location of the Darke Academy school. This time the elite and beautiful attend the Darke Acadamy in New York which holds some keys to some of the happenings in the book.

The eeriness, friendship and gothic are all still t

Richard. I know in my last review i called him an ass, but he has his reasons and i decided that he's okay. I mean he could have gone it a different way, just cause he's weak doesn't mean he has to be a two faced lie, but i don't hate him. Backhanded complement intended. I knew when i read the summary that we would be seeing an appearance from Katerina, but i was a little shocked to see how involved Sara really was. She... hmm, she's interesting, i mean she's not weak, not at all from what i hav ...more

OMG. I've just finish it. This book is really good than the first one. I so love when Cassie can lift and melt things! And her relationship with Ranjit (but not until on the end). I'm so disappointed with Ranjit, he chose to follow the rules than taking the risk like Cassie did. And I'm so freaking piss off with Jake! Gosh, Jake! Why so desperate? Why can't he just get over it?! He's so pissing me off. And he's so obsess with revenge! Like, seriously? Is he blind or something? Or he's just dumb ...more
This sequel is much darker than the last. With Cassie a member of the Few and host to a very malevolent spirit, we see her struggle to maintain herself and not let the spirit rule her body. It was refreshing to see the main character struggle with difficult emotions yet not appear whinny. I really felt for the character and kept wishing her the best. On the other hand, I was a little disappointed with the turn Isabelle took since she allowed Cassie to feed off of her quickly with no questions an ...more

Cassie má pořád větší a větší hlad.

After a promising start this second book seemed... Lazy. In comparison to the first book in the series it was slow, choppy and the characters started to become really unappealing, it almost seems as if this book was unedited, like it was a rough draft of a good book. But don't get me wrong it was enjoyable enough, I just didn't see any of the wit and great writing I saw in the first book, Gabriella Poole is much better than this book. Hopefully the next book is better.

I can't get enough of this series! This novel is a continuation of secret lives, as the novel continues you really get to know and feel for the characters if that makes any kind of sense... It is much more action packed and contains lots of romance. What annoyed me is that Richard wasn't in it as much as the previous novel, but about from that it was amazing. I advise you to continue on from the first as it is really a introduction to what lies in the Darke Academy and for you to read the first ...more
The second book in the Darke Academy following the story of scholarship girl, Cassie Bell. After her first term at the academy things have changed for her. She now has a 'budding' intense romance and has some strain on her friendships with Isabella and Jake.

Now a member of the elite 'Few' she has many personal struggles to deal with and still has to find her 'niche' within the Few. Her journey is not easy and is quite intense with obstacles she has to overcome and conquer.

The book is well writte
Despite the quality of the first book the second book of Darke Academy gave more mysteries to solve and more romance. The author is a very good writer and I can't wait to read the other books. :)

This is the second book in the Darke Academy series, and the book picks up after the antics that happened in book one, Secret Lives.

This term the Darke Academy has moved to New York, and Cassie Bell is no longer the new scholarship girl getting picked on by the elite school's students. She is slowly becoming part of the group, and becoming more accepted by the Few.

Cassie is in fact one of the strongest members of the Few, and with the new spirit inside her Cassie must learn to feed to keep her s

Firstly, I would like to point out that I do respect the author for her work. secondly, I just do not think this series is my cup of tea. The reasons are because it simply reminds me too much of other young adult novels about gifted children on continuation schools; love happens, drama happens and someone dies. It is like a bad rerun where the main character is unusually gifted compared to the other youths. Even so, everything is not all clichéd; instead of paranormal creatures such as vampires, ...more

The character of the book make people want to relate to them. I highly reccomend
I finished it in 4 going on to 5 hours I think that says something, it was cool amazing awkward and much more I heart ranjit and yes he's indian just in case people are confused, he did get a bit careless and awkward. Mean he called cassie Jem, JEM wtf how fricken' awkward is that cassie was piss taking isabelle is cool as always in love with her and jack pisses me off to another level and katarina is bitchy but funny and Ayeesha is okay for a few and richard -_- you were cool before now your a ...more
This was a great follow-up to Secret Lives. I love how close Cassie and Isabella become during the story. Isabella seems like great friend to have by your side :)
I have a kind of love/hate relationship with Ranjit though ... I get why he does what he does, but I don't have to like it.
I feel like Cassie is becoming a very strong character and she really knows how to put up a fight. There are moment I kind of dislike her, mostly because of Estelle, but I can't seem to stop myself from liking her.

“Now get your Jimmy Choos on. You're going to party with your beau!"
"Get your Jimmy Choos on, you mean," remarked Cassie under her breath, but she felt a thrill of glamour as she slipped into the gorgeous stilettos. "Am I going to be able to walk?"
"In these shoes you do not walk, Cassie, you stalk.”
“For this lowlife to remain at the Academy while I was expelled is simply...oh dear, how shall we put it?"
"A crime," murmured Sara.
"That's kind, dear Sara, but crime can be fun and sophisticated." Katerina gave a thin-lipped smile as the other three girls chuckled. "There must be another word."
"A disgrace," suggested the brunette at Sara's side.”
