Women beware…There is a serial killer on the loose. So far three women have gone missing. There is the aspiring artist, high school senior and the stripper.

The authorities have a suspect on their radar. The issue is that this person is suppose to be dead. His name is Craig Thornton. He and his fiancé, Adrianna were to be married but a drunk driver crashed into them, causing Adrianna to lose her baby and sending Craig into a coma that he never woke up from. Now someone is leaving Adr More...

Adrianna Barrington thinks it was someone's cruel joke when she receives flowers and cards signed in her late husband's name. She has a few reasons for assuming so because she has recently sold the Thornton estate (belonging to her late husband's family) and she knew most of the residents in the neighbourhood are not pleased with her deeds considering the estate has a long line of history. But what most shocked her was when two bodies are found buried on the estate's cemetery and they were belie More...

Really kind of boring and forgettable. I disliked Adriana, who was stark, cool, warm, loving, apathetic, and worried all at the same time. She was perfect, unbelievable and... boring to read about, actually. Gage was really boring too. I'm being redundant here, but I just cannot think of another way to describe these characters and this book. The only thing that vaguely interested me was the backstory about Adriana and the other baby. I feel like Burton was trying to make all this backstory to g More...

Adrianna Thornton is selling her husband's large family estate that has been his family's home for generations in order to pay off her husband's medical bills. She and Craig were hit by a drunk driver which put Craig in a coma for two years and caused Adrianna to miscarry their baby. Adrianna is trying to put her life back together but she keeps receiving these creepy gifts saying they are from her late husband Craig. Also, two bodies are found on her husband's estate and they are the bodies of More...

I received this book awhile ago (like months) from a giveaway from J-Kaye's Book Blog. Probably in 2009, I don't really remember ha. I just got around to REALLY read it (it's been my purse book for awhile) and I finished it off in one sitting. It's an adavanced uncorrected copy, so I tried to keep that in mind as I found errors and got a little irritated.

It's definitely a book that gets you in the middle of the who-dunnits and the suspense doesn't disappoint too much. I can see More...

I am giving this book 3 stars because it was an enjoyable/mindcandyesque read that captures my attention. The plot was pretty typical murder/thriller, but I liked that the cop & the woman in danger had a past, that was a nice twist.

There were a couple logic problems, and she gave away the killer about 3/4 of the way through (and I never ever ever figure out who the killer is) still I enjoyed it a lot and will probably read more of her stuff.

The plot twisted and turned and kept me guessing, but there were some inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story. For example, in one scene, the heroine was going through storage containers. She finished a barrel of baby clothes and was working on a barrel of books. Someone entered the room, and she put down the baby sleeper she was holding. I had to go back and re-read to confirm that she was supposed to be working with books. A small detail, but distracting, especially when there were sev More...

This book started out pretty suspenseful and I had high hopes for it, I did keep my interest but I figured out who was the killer midway through the story. Bummer. Plus the sidestory never really got solved and that irks me, I want to know what happened dammit!! I also admit that I kept wondering if I had accidentally picked up a second book in a series or something because it seemed like the author was eluding to events that I hadn't been privy to in this book.

This is another of my infamous "read it in the tub" books, so doubtless it'll take forever. So far I'm not too impressed. It's another one of those adjective-y books (i.e. "she brushed her long blond hair out of her oval face as she slipped on her black shoes and grabbed her Coach purse.") But for something to read a chapter or two a day while soaking it's not so awful.

Mary Burton’s Dying Scream takes you on a hell of a ride. The writing is sharp. Her character development was phenomenal - This one is hard to put down. Burton carefully crafts numerous misleads and misdirections. I did not figure out “who done it” until the end of the book......

This was the first book that I have read in a long time that I actually could not put down until I finished it. It was gritty and dark just like a good mystery should be and it had a touch of romance in it. I would have like more romance in the story, but over all it was a good read for sure.

A good solid suspense with well-developed characters. Aside from the aggravating abundant overuse of the phrases "long fingers" and "long slender hands" to describe just about every character in the book, I did enjoy it and would recommend it to those who enjoy this genre.

This book was a bit slow but in the end was well worth it. Make susre when your loved ones pass you keep track of the changes in the grave.

This author just gets better and better! I thought I knew early on who-done-it, but there were some surprise twists.

For some reason I expected more from this book.
But the story just didnt flow right for me, i normally love these type of books and I did find myself rushing through the book...but not because i loved it.

I didnt particularly like any of the characters, the bad guy/s were really obvious I thought and I think it could have been written better.

Was a first for me from this author but I do have a couple more of hers to read so I am reserving judgement until I have read th

I couldn't help but notice the "been-there-read-that" feeling throughout the book.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't "wowy" either. Too similar to other thrillers out there, it certainly didn't bring anything new to the genre, and the characters sure didn't help the book one bit. She was meh, he was a slightly better meh.

Oh, well, who's next?

Not very good. Hardly anything happens in this book and the book is full of so many mistakes it is hard to believe this made it to print. Very disappointing.
