I don't feel like I can justify any rating I give this book, because while I didn't like it, I don't think it really deserves a one star rating. It just clearly wasn't for me, obviously, which is sad because I'm open to any sort of plot and any sort of characters and any sort of style of writing.

I really enjoyed reading this book it was very interesting especially because of the many view points that were told in the book. the characters are very deceitful and each watch there backs mainly. 1 of the characters is a big time drug dealer and owes money to the mob boss. which means he is in big trouble. some of the other characters get in a car crash and they think one of there friends is dead so they put him in the front seat to make it look like it was only him when he crashed. the othe...more

This has been yet another "why did I read this?" expirience.
Not in an "I Kissed a Zombie and I Liked it Way" but rather, more in a "The ABCs of Kissing Boys" kind of way.
The book was an extremely fast read, and was actually pretty funny in parts.

This a great "quick-read" and hard to put down book. It follows the events of a group of people who are all connected in one way or another on the same night. The night starts out with a few boys going to a party, a girl working her part-time job, a guy trying to get out of the grasp of the mob and a New Jersey girl looking for excitement in the big city. I chose to read WTF because i had no other book to read and my friend Natalie recommended this book to me. WTF is about a huge misunderstanding over the debt of a drug dealer who gets other people involved in helping him pay his debt off. I really loved this book it was just really exciting and thrilling. One the bad thing is that they swear alot in this book and some pretty secenic scens. When I first read the description for WTF, I thought it sounded like a fun, exciting read. You look at the cover, and see a cover that almost dares you to pick it up and in a way screams WTF. You look at the cover, and see a cover that almost dares you to pick it up and in a way screams WTF. I love it. In WTF, Peter Lerangis never leaves you with down time, just throws more and more events at you. Though it was almost a bit too much thrown at you at times. As I was nearing the half way point of the book, I was just figuring out what had happened in the beginning of the book. Nonetheless, the plot was totally fun all along the way. The plot to me was about the only redemming aspect of the book.

The end is kind of abrupt. And following the ending, all you get is a short few sentence summary of what happens to each character in their next few years following the story. I really would've loved to know more of what happened to everyone, immediately and down the road.

I wasn't too crazy about the characters. The book is less than 300 pages, and there's 5 different POV going on. Each POV was so short and choppy I never really got a good idea of each characters story that night. In addition to that, you never really get to know any of the characters outside that night. I felt this really took away from the story. The characters just weren't very personable, and I couldn't connect with any aspect of them. And if I can't connect to the characters, how am I supposed to connect with their story?

Overall, WTF was a book that left me without much of an opinion. WTF deals with drugs, partying, injuries - all issues that should leave you with a reaction, but I was left with nothing. It had an enticing plot, mediocore writing, a shiny cover, and characters that really did nothing for me.

While WTF didn't appeal to me, as a reader, I can definately see how many other teens would love it. The teen rebellion going on in WTF would most likely appeal to a large group of teens. Characters are the biggest thing for me, and if I cannot connect with the characters in some way, it's really hard for me to get past that. Readers who are big on plot and action will definately enjoy WTF.(less)

I didn't even get through the first 20 pages. I just was sick of the language. Ok, I know it's called WTF so maybe I should expect some language, but not on every page. And I am really bugged that this is published as a teen book. Is this book really in school libraries? Do I really have to limit the books I read to 6th grade novels and Christian literature??? To be clear, I have no problem with anyone who wants to read this book. I just don't understand why a movie is rated R for more than 2 us...more

I just finished reading wtf, an alright book. The over all plot is average, it grabed me in some action parts but then mellows things out and weakens and becomes a drag, but then there is a catch at the end. The three main characters are really strong in personality. They are completely different from eachother , but also have something that ties them together, this reminds me of the characters in Impulse by Ellen Hopkins. I was walking along the Glendale public library and this book was stacked on top of other books and I decided to check it out because the title caught my attention. What I really liked about WTF is that it never stopped. Action right from the start. Here we have the story of six people who's Friday night has just taken a turn for the worst. It's a story of anything that could go wrong, does go wrong.

In the beginning we meet Jimmy, the driver. On their way to a house party, Jimmy and his friends, Cam and Byron, have an accident in which Cam winds up unconscious. Driving without a licence, and assuming Cameron is dead, Jimmy and Byron flee the scene.

Poor Jimmy, getting dragged into all of this, when all he wanted was a night out to have fun and meet girls.

Then there's Byron, the know it all. He convinced Jimmy to drive them to the party, agreed to Cam's drug deal, then runs and leaves him for dead after the crash dumping the supplies in the most unlikely of places. Just ew. Lol

Waits, the supplier. He's just a kid who took the wrong path at some point in his life, and is now trying to makes amends by doing one final payment, and finally leaving for good. Never in a million years did he expect for this Friday night's deal to go so very wrong. I liked him :)

Reina, the ever-annoying-conscious. I really didn't like her. If she didn't want to be involved, she should have, and could have left Waits' bag where he'd easily find it. But no, there she goes and drags it with her, assuming she'd be safe wherever she went. Smh, dumb little girl -.-

There's MC, the crasher, though really I have no clue what the point of her really was. To mean she seemed to just be a stand in character for Byron. Just so he'd have a reason to get to Blowback (which is the name of the club they're all headed to).

And finally, Cam, the connect. Assumed dead, he's taken to the hospital where Jimmy, after being taken by police from the house party, meets him and tells him what happened after he and Byron left the scene of the accident.

I thought this story was very intriguing. And they all come together because of one person, Cam. Though they all have different reasons for involving themselves that Friday night, ultimately, their goal is the same.. to survive. Crashes, hospitals, police, and drug lords. Six players, two parties, one hell of a Friday Night! Can you survive the chaos?

This book almost made me give up on young adult literature completely. Overly vulgar to make teens feel like they're getting away with something bad when reading this. The story was written by someone that saw Pulp Fiction and basically rewrote it. Except not well. With that said, I actually read the whole book no matter how awful. Once they’re there MC (the truck driver girl) is in the club selling the “drugs” like they’re candy and Byron ends up driving hormonally excited teenage couples around the city as a cab business. Jimmy turns out to be at the hospital where Cam is under medical treatment, turns out he was alive just very badly beat up. Of course Jimmy was happy to see he didn’t kill him, but he was still paranoid of going to jail and was also wondering what happened to Byron. Cam regains consciousness and Jimmy explains to him the situation, Cam quickly thinks of the fact that Byron’s going to try and take all the profits and let him get wacked by Waits. So Cam and Jimmy set off to find Byron, Jimmy (finally aware of what their plan originally was) feeling less guilty but still guilt tripped into going, had the biggest feeling of confusion disgust and paranoia. Waits at the club was trying to get Reina (the girl who runs the club) to find his money bag that she dumped in the broom closet of the club, but Reina was mad and scared because of the situation she was in so she wouldn’t help him. Waits was in a rush because he owed money to the mafia boss Ianussi and Cam was his last hope that had “died” (Jimmy texted him that Cam was dead thru his phone) so Byron had to make the money by himself. Once Byron was on his way back he was about to be robbed, but he just drove like a maniac to keep the thieves in the back seat uneasily, he ended up crashing and was badly cut up. He arrived at the club and gave Waits his money and practically made him cry telling him that he killed a teenager for this dirty money. Jimmy and Cam found out everyone was at the club so they got there last and it was a giant shocker to everyone to see that Cam was alive everyone cried and was relieved Waits got beat up by MC because she heard how bad he was, but once she let him up two cops that were chasing after him caught Ianussi and arrested him so he didn’t have to still sell drugs to make a living. Which meant that no one had to pay anyone off anymore so the cops confiscated the money (unfortunately) and everyone was so relieved that the whole night was finally over in the end they all went their separate ways except for Waits and MC they got married and divorced and now is going to move to DC with Jimmy who goes to college there. WTF was a very excited and dramatic book; I was interested in it after the first chapter (which is generally hard to do). I am not one to read because I get very sleepy after I read two pages but this book kept me up excited and always wondering what was going to happen next I was disappointed when it ended, not because it was a bad ending, but because I didn’t want it to end I would highly recommend this to anybody even if they don’t like to read. Lerangis is the son of a retired New York Telephone Company employee and a retired public-elementary-school secretary, who raised him in Freeport, New York on Long Island. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in biochemistry, while acting in musicals[4] and singing with and musically directing the a cappella group the Harvard Krokodiloes,[5][6] before moving to New York. He worked there as an actor[7] and freelance copy editor for eight years before becoming an author.[8]
In 2003, Lerangis was chosen by First Lady Laura Bush to accompany her to the first Russian Book Festival, hosted by Russian First Lady Lyudmila Putina in Moscow.[9][10]Authors R. L. Stine (Goosebumps) and Marc Brown (the Arthur the Aardvark series) also made the trip with Bush.[9]
Also in 2003, Lerangis was commissioned by the United Kingdom branch of Scholastic to write X-Isle, one of four books that would relaunch the Point Horror series there.[11] A sequel, Return to X-Isle, was published in 2004.
In 2007, Scholastic announced the launch of a new historical mystery series called The 39 Clues, intended to become a franchise.[12] Lerangis wrote the third book in the series, The Sword Thief, published in March 2009.[13][14][15] On March 3, 2009, Scholastic announced that Lerangis would write the seventh book in the series, The Viper's Nest.[14][16]
Lerangis lives in New York City with his wife, musician Tina deVaron, and their sons Nick and Joe.[17](less)
