As a daughter who actually quite no really close to her father, this book makes me smile, brings back all the good and sad memories in a sweet way.

Une très belle découverte de cet écrivain célèbre, on trouve une écriture fluide, facile à lire et à comprendre. On raconte l’histoire d’une fille qui n’apprécie pas vraiment son père, car ils ont été très distants.
Julia va se marier avec Adam, elle appelle pour inviter son père. Mais il ne peut venir à la cérémonie, puisqu’il est mort. En effet, dans ce livre, on découvre un univers fantastique qui se termine avec une très belle chute, très inattendue.

I keep buying Marc Levy's novels because they're nice and cute, nothing more. They're an easy read, they don't required much concentration so are perfect for those times in life when you are more busy than you can handle and need an easy escape. I'll never reread them but I always lend them.

Esta é uma história que nos mostra que muitas vezes utilizamos a palavra Amor para descrever todo o tipo de sentimentos e muitas vezes não vemos realmente o Amor no nosso dia a dia.
Quando iniciei a leitura fiquei um pouco de pé atrás com a situação da "encomenda"... Não vou entrar em detalhes para não estragar a surpresa a quem o quer ler ;)
Passada essa fase foram surpresas atrás de surpresas que fizeram com que aquele pequeno incidente da encomenda fosse completamente post More...

Es como una película americana novelada. No está mal. Engancha porque no sabes lo que pasará al final, aunque se intuye.

I thought the book would be totally different. The cover made me thing of unsent letters, diaries, something profound. However, I found a father pretending to be death, buried and robotized trying for a second chance with his daughter, and a stubborn Julia who cannot understand it's been her who keeps taking the wrong path in Life. The story is catchy, well written, entertaining, and teaches us two or three lessons. An easy read!

L'histoire d'une jeune femme dont la mort de son père va empêcher le mariage et qui part à la recherche d'un ancien amour qu'elle pensait mort... Peut être pas de la grande littérature (on peut même s'accorder un "littérature de plage"), peu surprenant, mais toujours cette combinaison de petits suspenses et bon sentiments qui rendent les livres de Lévy agréables à lire et qui nous laisse un bon souvenir.

Kalo dibanding novel If Oly It Were True aku lebih suka novel yg ini. Kisahnya juga nggak hanya soal cinta melulu tapi ada juga cerita ttg sang heroen dan sang ayah yg hubungannya udah buruk sejak lama dan gmn akhirnya mereka memperbaikinya. Kisah yg menyentuh dan pastinya happy ending ;)
Moga aja diangkat ke layar lebar kayak Just Like Heaven \(^0^)/

Once again, a great Levy book. The one you read in a couple of hours, the one you want to know the end of it. But you still don't want to read it too quickly, because you don't want to book to end.
Without knowing, I read it at the perfect moment : 20th birthday of the Berlin wall fall.
A story that brings us from America to Europe, and back and forth.

Um...this one was a wee bit far fetched for me. I enjoyed the book while I was reading it, but was slightly pissed when I finished. I totally called it! The father's character is not charming in any way and I had no empathy for him whatsoever. It is hard to appreciate a control freak. My boss loaned me this one, so I'm glad it was free.

As I know Mark Levy as author of fiction elements in his novels, I believed this one is the same. And what the surprise it was for me in the end, when explanation of everything was so simple and realistic.
This was one of the books I couldn't out down before turning the last page, when it doesn't matter that you have the work to be done.

this is a fable and large prts of it were very good and large parts of it were very boting. in general the characters were just fine but not great.. in my opinion this this book could have been better. some of the parts of the book seemed to be rushed and others to slow and wordy.. i can not truly recomend this book..

But not good enough if you're looking for a good novel. I don't like the way Levy writes because it's too simple. Not that I want complicated words, but I was hoping to get good descriptions, specially about the feelings. The story between Julia and Tomas is good, sincerely, but I think that Levy didn't know how to explore it well.

One of my favorite books so far. This book is just great . Marc levy really can touch your heart by telling a story about what a man can do to reach the heart of her little daughter, and to keep her from marrying the wrong man. For some people who have trouble with their imagination maybe underrated this book at first, and they lost the chance to read such a beautiful story. Finish it until the last page, and you may cry. But don't worry, this is not the kind of book that will drain your tears.

Já tinha visto o filme baseado no livro E Se Fosse Verdade, que é uma comédia romântica muito agradável!
Já juntei á minha lista enorme de livros a comprar os títulos A Próxima Vez, Meus Amigos Meus Amores e o último que saiu os Filhos da Liberdade.( As Coisas Que Nunca Dissemos )

This is one of Marc Levy's books that I read recently (end of 2010).
I loved the plot and the way in which an apparently estranged Daughter/Father managed to grow a certain degree of complicity AFTER the father had died!
The beauty of the settings adopted (partly in Montreal, Canada) , the historical research into the Fall of the Wall in Berlin in 1989, all contribute to make this a good read.

Un tres beau livre, tous les parents se retrouverons un peu dans cette histoire... Mieux vaut dire les choses (même si ça fait mal) que de laisser passer le temps jusqu'à ce qu'il soit trop tard. Un TRES BON Marc LEVY : vivement le prochain !!!

Ça m'arrive rarement en lisant un livre, mais je ne l'ai pas aimé jusqu'aux dix dernières pages. Je trouvais que l'automate était un peu poussé.... Par contre, les dix dernières pages du livre m'ont fait apprécier toutes les précédentes.

Un roman sur deux est bon. Celui-ci fait parti du bon cru de Marc Levy. De l'extra-ordinaire qui réunit un père et sa fille, une femme et un homme amoureux. Une belle histoire à dévorer sans hésitation!

I read it in Spanish. Maybe the translation wasn´t the best, but I think this book is the simplest book I´ve read. Lines are way too elaborated. It´s just a very commercial book. Didn´t like it at all.
