My GRs giveaway that arrived to-day. As someone who likes to 'think' of themselves as a gardener/grower but in truth is nothing more than a 'dabbler' I'm looking forward to reading this. Written by a journalist who's also a grower it appears to be far more user friendly than books written by growers who think they can write.

If you are looking for a comprehensive guide to growing a kitchen garden, look elsewhere. This book is very literally an A-Z, as in "A is for Apple", "B is for Bean", and so on, with a small page and a half description accompanied by a picture.
The plants, insects, herbs, animals, etc. that are covered seem to be picked at random, and there are very few.
There are some beautiful pictures in the book, and some interesting information within, but overall it reads lik More...
