I'm still laughing! This is just the sweetest story about poor Turkey, who tries to conceal himself from Farmer Jake, hoping to not be selected for Thanksgiving dinner. He employs many disguises....a paintbrush, a saddle, a pair of funky eyeglasses, and other items....all to help him look like other farmyard animals. The story is adorable, but the illustrations are what truly cause the belly laughs! Poor Turkey! The different expressions on his face are priceless. I read it aloud to my hus More...

This is a really fun Thanksgiving story. The premise is the one you've probably seen many times before--the poor turkey realizes he is going to be on the menu for Thanksgiving dinner and he has to try to save himself. What sets this apart are the funny disguises the turkey takes, trying to blend in with other farm animals, and the clever word play. I think kids will really enjoy this.

As a vegan, I am personally not very fond of the turkey-in-trouble scenario but in this case, it w More...

"Turkey Trouble" is a cute story that will have students using their prediction skills the whole way through! Turkey is trying to survive the Thanksgiving season, in order to do this, he tries to disguise himself as different animals. I would ask students to predict which animal Turkey is going to try and disguise himself as next. Repetition would also be a concept to teach using this story. And of course, this would be a cute story to read during Thanksgiving time.

Turkey is in trouble. Big trouble. It's almost Thanksgiving, and HE'S on the menu. But what if he didn't look like a turkey? What if he looked like a horse? Surely Farmer Jake wouldn't eat a horse for Thanksgiving! And so Turkey proceeds to disguise himself as a horse. And a pig. And a sheep. And more. His disguises are the best part of the book. (Love the brush attached to the back of his head for a horse's mane.) Funny and cute stuff for younger elementary.

The turkey is getting worried when it comes time for Thanksgiving. He goes around trying to disguise himself as different animals, but it never quite works. His final disguise is looking like a rooster, which works well, but when the farmer can't find the turkey, he decides to eat rooster. Panicking, the turkey comes up with a plan to be a pizza deliverer, and brings them pizza to eat instead for dinner. It works, and turkey has his best Thanksgiving ever. Very funny.

Turkey is troubled and worried that he will be a tasty meal on Thanksgiving Day. He comes up with a plan to confuse Farmer Jake...dressing up as other animals will take attention away from himself. But what will Farmer Jake and his family have for Thanksgiving dinner? Turkey Trouble is full of humorous situations and clever costume changes. Kids will surely giggle.

Used for "We Are Thankful" Storytime-November, 2010.

This book offers the familiar Thanksgiving story about a turkey that doesn't want to be served for Thanksgiving dinner. Throughout the story Turkey dons various disguises to avoid the platter. Though the story is not original, the lively and hillarious illustratons set this tale apart from it's peers. The clever ending also offers a modern Thanksgiving twist!

Turkey Trouble was another of the books on CD that we purchased. This one again we read as a family once, and then the little ones listened to it once or twice again. My daughter liked laughing at all the costumes that turkey tried on. My son liked the book, but did not like the page with the horse. He liked the end of the book best!

This is by far my favorite Thanksgiving book to read aloud for storytime at work. Perfect for the 3 and up crowd. Turkey is in trouble, the kind of trouble where it is Thanksgiving and you are the main course. Turkey tries to disguise himself as other animals in an effort to avoid being served. The illustrations are hilarious.

Fun thanksgiving, or even halloween read aloud about a turkey trying to disguise herself before Thanksgiving. The lee Harper illustrations are a kick and the end makes it fun to read before eating pizza. Pairs lovely with Sometimes It's Turkey, Sometimes It's Feathers, or Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving.

So funny! Awesome for school visits. Funny illustrations, hilarious text, I love it. Great for elementary school visits K-4.

It is almost Thanksgiving and Turkey doesn't want to be eaten, so he decides to disguise himself by dressing up like other animals on the farm. Only...his disguises don't quite work!

Sensing he was in trouble - bad trouble - Turkey finds creative ways to disguise himself from becoming the main course on Thanksgiving Day. All ends well in this preschool storytime perfect book, when turkey has his best idea yet and develops a new Thanksgiving meal menu. Great for laughs and discussions!

The turkey disguises himself as every possible farm animal in order to avoid being eaten for Thanksgiving dinner!! The illustrations/costumes are great? So, what does the farmer have for Thanksgiving Dinner? You have to read and find out for yourself.

We heard this at story time yesterday. It's a clever version of the familiar story of a turkey trying to avoid being the main course for Thanksgiving dinner. Fun wordplay and darling illustrations.

A silly Thanksgiving book about a turkey who keeps desguising himself as other farm animals. The pictures are fun, as are the comments from the other animals when they call the turkey out. A cute twist ending.

Turkey tries out several disguises to thwart the farmer's plan to eat him for Thanksgiving. His ultimate solution is creative and might start a new trend.

I really liked this book. It made me laugh a lot, and the kindergarten students it was read to laughed a lot too. It's about a turkey that tries to dress up as different animals because he doesn't want to be eaten for Thanksgiving. It's also really good for having the kids make predictions because they can guess what animal the turkey is going to dress up as next.

Turkey tries to find ways to avoid ending up as dinner for Thanksgiving. Can he hide out in a disguise? Or will an alternate dinner work? Really enjoyed this one.
