Babies will enjoy learning to recognize the adorable farm animals in this board book with wooden beads. Five beads embedded into the book function as a rattle and later as a tool for helping readers count the farm animals along with George. Beautiful patterns and a reasonable price help make this an ideal choice for gift baskets.

H.A. Rey passed away in 1977 according to goodreads. He's probably wondering how he posthumously created this half-rattle half-weapon that, so far, is entirely uninteresting to someone that finds a blank wall worthy of petting and staring at. And, no, I'm not talking about myself. Personally, I kind of hoped Curious George was going to learn the abacus when I saw the book. Instead? I'm wondering if H.A. Rey is rolling over like my daughter just learned to.

Hans Augusto Rey was born on September 16, 1898, in Hamburg, Germany. He grew up there near the world-famous Hagenbeck Zoo, and developed a lifelong love for animals and drawing. Margarete Elisabeth Waldstein (who would be known to most of the world as Margret Rey) was also born in Hamburg on May 16, 1906. The two met briefly when Margret was a young girl, before she left Hamburg to study art. The ...more
