Prior to reading Hourglass I was about as excited to admit to enjoying this series to my book loving friends as I am to confess to my musician friends that I downloaded a Taylor Swift album. Such is the nature of guilty pleasures. But now that I have read, and really really enjoyed "Hourglass", some of the stink attached to this series has worn off.

"Hourglass" immediately begins where "Stargazer" left off. Bianca and Lucas are trapped into hiding out w More...

I'm going to start off by saying that Hourglass is by far the best book in the series so far. While I definitely enjoyed Evernight and Stargazer, Hourglass surpassed the first two books in the series by leaps and bounds. If you stick around, I'm going to try to explain why.

First of all, the characters are much more complex. While this might be because of the background and development established by the first two books, Claudia Gray definitely showed what she can do with a pen in Hou More...

6/16:
Okay, I'm not even half way through this book, but I had to write a little something about how I felt so far. Basically, Bianca and Lucas are the most idiotic and annoying couple I've ever had the misfortune of reading about. And Bianca is probably the worst heroine in a novel. Ever. Okay, so her best friend (and almost lover) is in the next room being tortured. Lucas, the biggest douche-bag in life, is jealous because she is worried about what might happen to her friend. And then Bia More...

This book was my favorite in the series thus far. Gray throws in so many surprises that I am really chomping at the bit to get the next one! The story takes off where Stargazer left us with Bianca leaving Evernight with Lucas and his Black Cross family. Their biggest fear, they think, is that Bianca will be discovered for what she truly is, a vampire, but when you get to the final few chapters you will find out that they haven't even begun to realize what could possibly go wrong. I don't wa More...

This series gets better with each book; something of which not many series can boast. Too often a series stumbles by on the strength of the original book, but nothing could be further from that with this series. This book has more action, more shocking events, more drama, more joy, more sadness, than the previous books.
I don't want to get into anything that happens because you'll really want to experience it all for yourself. I can't imagine how this series is going to be wrapped up, but I More...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, up until the last few pages....
Spoiler Alert*****
I am not into the whole ghost thing, I knew this was coming but I just kept hoping that the book would go in a whole new direction.
I am curious how the next book will be with Lucas as a Vampire. Is he going to be angry that he was turned and how is the whole Lucas and Bianca situation going to go???
Now, all I can do is wait More...

Ah, Evernight. No matter how much it tries, it always reminds me of a poor man's version of Vampire Academy. You know, the whole 'girl at a boarding school for vamps who falls for a stake wielding hot guy' thing. I hate comparing series; it's hard to write original YA nowadays, and it's near impossible to write a book without someone accusing you of stealing something from somebody else.
When I began reading Hourglass, I realised all of the actions took place away from the school. I was a l More...

severely disappointing read..... I thought the first book was ok and wasnt really interested in continuing the series however I was bored and read Stargazer which interestingly enough spiked my interest. Butttttttttt with Hourglass I am afraid to say, Claudia took 3 steps back

In all honesty I find lucas's character to be very boring and uninteresting so I found it hard for me to root for them to be together because I really don't understand what Bianca saw in him. However in Hourglas More...

Claudia Gray has outdone herself with Hourglass. This book is the best of the series… BY FAR!! The twists, turns, struggles and climactic ending kept me riveted the entire time! All I have to say is (1) What an ending!! (2) When is Afterlife coming out?! and (3) I.CAN’T.WAIT!!! Wow… Just wow!

In this book Bianca and Lucas are together and trying to find an escape from the Black Cross Vampire Hunters before they figure out what Bianca truly is or isn’t for that matter. Their time toget More...

I love to be taken by surprise. It doesn't happen all that often, so I really relish the times that it does. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when I started Hourglass. The plot was a little slow moving, there wasn't that tension or anticipation between Bianca and Lucas.. will they be together, will they not be together? I think that helped the first two novels move along a little more quickly.

The last quarter of the novel is really what did it for me. I wanted to read the More...

For those of you who have been around for a while you know that I “liked” but didn’t “love” the first 2 novels in the “Evernight” series (“Evernight” & “Stargazer” (3/5)) and while at first I had no intentions of reading any further into the series, I am happy that I did.

One of my biggest issues with “Gray’s” writing in the first two installments of this series was her propensity to be a tad bit flighty and unfocused in areas, and yes… I’m not going to say that “Hourglass” is mutually More...

Although I can't remember much between reading the previous books and this one, this one did a great job in refreshing my memory! I know that Bianca is with Lucas and in danger of her identity being revealed, which it is, and that she found out that the only way she could be a child of two vampires was with the help of wraiths, enemies of vampires. And now, the wraiths believe she belongs to them. Having trouble dealing with being in a group of vampire hunters and not having enough time to be al More...

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series...I thought it was a good story and I was totally invested in the characters. However, I had a hard time finishing this book and was very puzzled by the time I had finished...

SPOILER ALERT****

I don't want to read a series if the ending comes out all wrong! Rarely do I read a book and think, that is so not right...but this one I did...If Lucas was just going to be turned in to a vamp anyway, why not have Bianca be the one to More...

This is the third book in the Evernight series by Claudia Gray. Last I heard this is planned to be a 4 book series with the fourth book "Afterlife" being released in December of 2010. I got this book as an uncorrected proof, through the Amazon Vine program. This was the best book in the series so far.

Bianca and Lucas are on the run with the Black Cross Brotherhood. They want to take off on their own but have no means to do so. Bianca is continuing to struggle to hide her livi More...

Well...I enjoyed the first title a great deal. The second was o.k. This was a little over the top. No, not a little, a lot over the top. Bianca and Lucas hide out with the vampire-killer group the Black Cross in the NYC subway until Bianca slips up and the group realizes she is a vampire, and Lucas has some vampiric qualities. They take off and hang out at Vic's parents house where they get part-time jobs and the whole things seems ridiculous. Meanwhile, Balthazar's crazy sister Charity is More...

Hourglass was probably my favourite of the series so far because so much happened. I loved the progression of Lucas and Bianca’s relationship and I thought it seemed quite believable. The second half of the book was almost the complete opposite of the first; to begin, everyone started out so happy and by the end everything was just in tatters. I was so happy we got to see more of Vic in this book because he was definitely my favourite character, and I actually started to like Ra More...

Claudia Gray provides a different take on vampires in her New York Times Bestselling series that began with Evernight. Hourglass is the third installment in the series, and is preceded by Stargazer. I really like the font they chose for the titles of these books. As for Hourglass, I didn't actually end up finishing it.

See, I started Hourglass and I'd been pretty into it - it was action-packed, it was original, etc. I got to Chapter 15 (page 212 of about 339) and stopped for a few day More...

Since the fire at Evernight, Bianca and Lucas are constantly in hiding with the Black Cross, Lucas' makeshift family. What the Black Cross don't know though is that Bianca is half vampire and has drank Lucas' blood before. If they knew, even Lucas' mother would have no second thoughts about what to do with Bianca. She knows it is a secret that under no circumstances can be revealed.

Living with the Black Cross means cramped, dark and damn living quarters with barely anything to eat a More...
