I found this edition to the Nauti series to be very dull and boring. It felt like the same setup I've read over and over again, but with different characters. I didn't care for either main character, the plot needed more "umph!," and the way the H felt about his sexual appetites I found very boring and downright silly. Different strokes for different folks and all that, the mountain was made out of a molehill, yadda, yadda...

This story was ok. I've always liked Zeke and Rogue and had been looking forward to their story, and the continuation of the fight to bring down the Freedom League.

I liked the sexual tension in this book, but there was something that made their character development somehow... meh. But still, I was very happy to see the Mackay cousins with their baby girls and would LOVE to fast forward 20 years and see what kind of grief they give their daddies. HA!

Not a bad offering by Lora Leigh--probably one of the better ones I've read by her in a while. This is the 5th book in her Nauti series, and it is mainly a romantic suspense with a couple of healthy dollops of LL's trademark erotic sex scenes. This book picks up where Nauti Intentions left off, with the homegrown terrorist group The Freedom League (a group of military and ex-military fanatics who think they can cause a revolution and take over the US government) still (barely) in operation in So...more Not a bad offering by Lora Leigh--probably one of the better ones I've read by her in a while. This is the 5th book in her Nauti series, and it is mainly a romantic suspense with a couple of healthy dollops of LL's trademark erotic sex scenes. This book picks up where Nauti Intentions left off, with the homegrown terrorist group The Freedom League (a group of military and ex-military fanatics who think they can cause a revolution and take over the US government) still (barely) in operation in Somerset, Kentucky and Sheriff Zeke Mayes determined to bring the organization down once and for all. Zeke has reasons (tied to his mysterious past) for wanting to destroy the Freedom League, and in this book readers find all about his somewhat tragic youth, his marriage to a woman who was repulsed by his sexual needs, and his desire for a woman who makes him believe he can love again.

Leigh's virginal heroine, 26-year old Caitlyn "Rogue" Walker, came from a wealthy Boston family but her dream was always to teach school in Kentucky where her father grew up. But somebody doesn't want Caitlyn or any Walkers in Somerset, so they smear her reputation so that she loses her teaching position and try to drive her out of town. But stubborn Caitlyn doesn't leave--her reputation may be in tatters but she won't be forced out. She opens a biker bar and since she already has a bad reputation, she decides to live up to it (at least on the outside) with her provocative dress and actions and new name of "Rogue". But on the inside she's still the inexperienced Caitlyn, pining for years for the town's bad boy love-'em-and-leave-'em, and keep-my-women-hidden sheriff.

When Rogue's two cousins end up dead in what appears to be a murder-suicide it brings her in close contact with the object of her lust, 37 year old Sheriff Zeke Mayes. Rogue doesn't believe it's a murder-suicide, and neither does Zeke. Somebody deliberately wants to silence the Walkers, but why? As Zeke works to solve the case and flush out the last of the Freedom League members, he also tries (unsuccessfully) to contain his feelings for the beautiful Rogue.

Zeke is one of those typical LL heroes with a lusty sexual appetite, and scarred by his (late) wife's rejection, he tries to keep his dominant side under control and continually warns the eager Rogue off with warnings like "you won't be able to handle my needs" and "I'm no good for you" and "you deserve better than me", blah, blah, blah. Of course, Rogue (being a typical LL heroine) isn't scared off by any of that, and lets Zeke know that she's ready to take him on and wants him to lose control with her, but she won't be kept as one of his 'secret' lovers. Will Zeke be man enough to publicly claim Rogue as 'his'? Will the independent Rogue let alpha Zeke protect her from whoever is gunning for the Walkers? Will Zeke finally be able to put two and two together and figure out who's still left in the Freedom League and stop them before harm comes to the woman he realizes he loves?

This was a fairly easy one to follow, and as far as the suspense goes, Leigh dishes up two possible suspects as the bad guy. There was a couple of twists and turns along the way, but I wasn't shocked when the baddie was revealed. There was a pretty decent look into Zeke's past life and what made him tick, so I was pretty happy with that. The same goes for Rogue--she started out as an innocent and grew to be one tough chick, and Leigh gave enough details to explain why Rogue acted as she did.

The love scenes--hot, hot, hot (no surprise there--sex in the shower, sex in a pickup), but this book wasn't overloaded with them--no sex-fest here. Just some smokin' hot moments and typical LL arguments and makeups among two stubborn leads.

Fans of the series will wonder if the Mackay cousins make an appearance--they do, but there's not a whole lot of them. Most prominent is Rogue's friend Janey Mackay Jansen (along with husband Alex).

There was also a nice little epilogue that had me smiling and wondering if Lora Leigh plans on keeping this series going for a while. Zeke has a 19 year old son (Shane) who'd make a wonderful hero in a few years, and of course there's the offspring of the Mackay cousins...

So, fans of this series shouldn't be disappointed. You get a decent romantic suspense, some erotic moments among a dominant, yummy alpha and his stubborn but tough heroine, and a nice HEA. No new ground was broken here, but I didn't expect any would be, so I was satisfied. 4 stars

Okay so out of the Nauti series I’ve read Nauti Nights (Dawg and Crista’s story, the second book of the series) which I liked and Nauti Intentions (Alex and Janey’s story, the fourth book of the series) which I liked even more then Nauti Nights. Nauti Intentions will lead you into Nauti Deceptions because Rogue is Janey’s best friend and is a part of Janey’s story and Zeke was also in the story too because him and Alex are friends. So they are books that I feel have to be read in order there. I didn’t read Nauti Boy because I saw that it was a ménage book and I’m not a big fan of ménage books… I’ve read them but sharing just doesn’t float my boat… I don’t feel like I missed anything skipping it though… Rowdy and Kelly were brought up in the all three of the books I read… so I really feel like it didn’t hurt skipping. I’m not sure why I skipped Natches story, I thought there was a reason but now I can’t remember… but he too was brought up in the other ones and I don’t feel like I missed much before going into Janey’s and Alex’s…
But anyways… my review of Nauti Deceptions… I enjoyed this one just as much as Janey’s and Alex’s story. It was smoking hot, maybe even hotter than Janey’s and Alex’s. Zeke was f*cking sexy and he could spank me any day. LOL! But there was that one moment that so wasn’t cool with what he did to Rogue… Sighs… I guess it could have been worse though… and I do believe my favorite part of the book (minus Zeke’s hot sex scenes) was the killer gone poetic part I was laughing my ass off. I even called my Mom and shared that part with her and had her laughing out loud over it. OHH TOO FUNNY! Good read… I’m thinking I might eventually give the Nauti Girl’s series a chance… Are they really about the Nauti Boys daughters though?! I saw something that made me believe it could be...? Anyways 4 Stars!!

This is one of those books in which the story got ruined by stupid heroine. I would have rated it 5-stars if it weren't for one of my pet-peeved. The character is just so difficult and to be honest, the hero is no better either. But I have trouble accepting the heroine's background story.

Lora Leigh is my guilty pleasure. Her books are candy for my smut loving self. But even I have been left feeling a bit “blah” over her last few releases. They were ok, but something was missing for me. I went into this book expecting the same and expecting to be bored because Zeke and Rogue never really appealed to me in the previous books. I was also a little wary of the ongoing terrorist suspense plot. While Nauti Deceptions isn’t perfect, I was surprised to find I really enjoyed it.

In previous Nauti books Rogue was never very interesting to me. I can’t explain why, but I actually thought she was older than she actually is. I always thought of her as a bit standoffish and brutish and I wasn’t really sure what we would get from her story. This is one of those books I am so thankful for multiple points of view. I really loved getting into Rogue’s head and found myself liking her almost immediately. She is smart, tough as nails, stubborn, sarcastic, and yet vulnerable – something I never expected.

Zeke, oh what can I say about Zeke. He could be my favorite “nauti boy”, he was definitely the most alpha so far. He is very overprotective and totally aggravating at times, but somehow I was able to overlook that. It probably has something to do with this dirty mouth and tendency to growl – its a weakness of mine.

The romance between Rogue and Zeke was intense. I was on the edge of my seat more than once, my stomach in knots as I wondered if this would be the time they really connected or not. The romantic tension between them was some of Leigh’s best and the loving was so hot I had to check my breathing to keep from hyperventilating.

My only complaint is the suspense plot, it was weak and felt overdone. I feel like the terrorist organization in this tiny town plot is being dragged on and on and on through book after book in this series. If there is another Nauti Boy book I hope she finds a new angle to work the subplot through because this one can’t take another novel.

Overall, Nauti Deceptions showcases Lora Leigh’s sizzling romantic tension at it’s best. If you are a fan of the series, definitely do not skip this one.(less)

Zeke & his mother left then & went to California, where Zeke's father continued to sent her pictures of their activities, as a protection... as an adult, when Zeke's mother, father, and wife were...more Zeke - town sheriff - followed his father's footsteps, but with a different outcome/purpose... His father became embroiled with the local terrorist/Freedom Fighter group, with behaviors including murder, sexual extremes, etc... and he brainwashed/tricked Zeke into killing a man when he was 14... Zeke & his mother left then & went to California, where Zeke's father continued to sent her pictures of their activities, as a protection... as an adult, when Zeke's mother, father, and wife were killed as a warning about those pictures, Zeke returned to town with the intention of taking them down... 10 years later he is frustrated as he isn't much closer to the truth & those in positions to help are hiding information from him and using him...

Rogue - biker bar owner / restaurant manager for Alex & ???... her father had also been one of the Freedom Fighters, but had taken his wife and moved to Boston to protect his family... Rogue returned to town 5 years earlier as a High School teacher, where her defense of Zeke's son against the Freedom Fighter's head honchos led to them drugging and photographing her in comprimising situations and getting fired... stubborn, she stayed in town, took over her father's biker bar, got tough, learned to fight - and did everything she could to attract Zeke's attention.

Zeke, though attracted, stayed stoic with Rogue because he didn't want to put her off with his powerful / dominant / more extreme adult sexuality - somehting his wife was put off by, and he has hidden/controlled for 10 years and because he felt he needed to finish with the Freedom Fighters and not put Rogue at risk.

But, due to circumstances, and it just being time... he can no longer keep away from her...

It is interesting to me that the 3 of the 5 Nauti books have men who sexually experiment a bit more than the average male... and yet they have virgin women, who jump right in... what does the author think about women, I wonder?

Zeke finally figures out he had all of the evidence he needed in the pictures his mother had in storage, and pulls them out and pieces things together, contacting the authoriites... but It ends up that Rogue's honorary uncle, main bartender, defensive arts teacher is actually heavily embroiled with the Freedom Fighters, and killing off members of her extended family... and is out for Rogue and the pictures... of course Naches & Zeke get there in a nick of time to save her...

and one year later, all are happily married, the Freedom Fighters are persecuted or dead, and the three Nauti cousins have 3 beautiful duaghters that in another 2-0 years with be the Nauti girls : )(less)

100% pure disappointment.....
This was the final book in the original Nauti Series and should have tied the whole series together... it didn't.

Lora Leigh did an amazing job with keeping up with all of the characters even as new ones were emerging. However, Nauti Deceptions practically forgot all about the Nauti Boys... Hello? It't the Nauti series, you shouldn't leave them out... Plus! All of the girls from the previous stories were pregnant and I wanted to be a fly on the wall but...

Zeke + Rogue =

I thoroughly enjoyed this luscious erotic romantic suspense. It is the 5th installation in the Nauti series. There are some very interesting developments in this book, with regards to the homegrown terror/extremist group and I believe that they wrap up that troubling legacy by book's end, but I may be wrong.

But OH, the chemistry between Zeke and Rogue. There are some tasty lovemaking moves, and they burn up the sheets when things get hot and heavy.

Not sure what the other books in the series were like but this one just did not do it for me. There was very little depth to Caitlyn/Rogue. The fact that she was a twenty-something virgin who had spent 5+ years pining away for a small town sheriff most than 10 years her senior did not endear her to my heart. Zeke has spent more than a decade of his life figuring out who the members of the Freedom League are and how to bring them down.

I won't bother recapping because the other reviewers did such a good job of that. Yes, it might have had a similar flow to it as the previous books did but it was still unique in its own way. When I read the last one, Janey and Alex's story, we got a good glimpse of Zeke and Rogue. I could tell she was going to be a wild one. A real rebel. However, I was worried that she might be the quintessential "bratty" female in the story which can sometimes be sooooo irritating. Huge chip on her shoulder and nothing but trouble.

However, LL did a great job of writing a tough and stubborn female with a beautifully vulnerable and squishy side too. We never had to wonder if she wanted Zeke all these years. She loved him and wanted him. He was the really stubborn one. But we also LOVE those alpha males too, don't we ladies!? Zeke was incredibly sexy and tough and protective and just plain yummy!!! Their journey was, for sure a rocky one, but immensely satisfying. I mean, if you really know LL's work you'd know that these stories are never smooth sailing. They are jam packed with pain, frustration, agony, etc..... before we get to the creamy filling.

I've read all of LL's work and every one of her series are unique. You don't walk away feeling the same way after every story. I have to say, I absolutely love all of her stories. However, I hadn't had the tummy flips and hot flashes like I had with this one, in a long time. It was intensely sexy and moving. The love scenes......whew!!! I hadn't been affected like this in a long time. I think Zeke's dark and intense needs paired with Rogue's innocence and her need to fly free and let go were a perfect combination. His fear that he might be too much for her and her ability to absolutely match him and each one of his sexual demands, regardless of her inexperience, was incredibly hot. A very satisfying story..... but hopefully not "ending" to the series...?... Am I the only one who felt like the epilogue almost sounded like it was "closing things out"?.... I hope I am wrong.... But I don't know who could be next... Perhaps the Nauti Girls?.... for those of you who have not read it.... you will find out what I mean!! (less)

OK, i've loved the nauti boys series so far, and i trully enjoyed the development of Zeke and Rogue's relationship, the scene with the son was just hillarious and as always with miss Leigh the sex scenes were steamy.

That being said...i don't know, this book felt kinda separate from the others, at least for me, the participation of the MacKay cousins was just minimal and i hated the epilogue.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is the first "Nauti" book that I've read and I will definitely go back and read the others. I didn't feel lost not having read the previous books, but I think that I would have appreciated some of the interactions with secondary characters more if I had read their story.

I will say that so far I've found the Nauti series consistently enjoyable (other than the titles). Nauti Dreams is still by far my favorite, but Nauti Deceptions was a nice installment with Zeke and Rogue's story. Zeke is the sheriff in a lovely appearing small town that is rife with criminal behaviors up to and including homegrown terrorists. Despite that disturbing aspect, not to mention the decades of corruption, people insist on living there and even return after getting out. Rogue is the daughter of a former citizen who was traumatized and her life as a schoolteacher destroyed when she irritated the wrong people. Instead of leaving town and returning to her family in Boston, she settles into life as a wild, supposedly bad girl who runs a biker bar on the outskirts of town.

Nauti Deceptions continues with the secret terrorist organization which has operated for at least 30 years committing countless crimes and plotting to overthrow the US government. In other words, a standard dramatic, far fetched LL plot but it serves as a backdrop for the relationship between Zeke and the much younger Rogue. In addition to a troubled past, Zeke also struggles with his "dark passions" which he hides even from his carefully chosen and casual lovers. Zeke fights his attraction to Rogue who he feels is too young and innocent for him. Rogue meanwhile has pined after Zeke for years and remained a virgin the whole time despite his various lovers. As the story opens, Zeke finally can hold out no longer and finally begins an affair with the tough acting but vulnerable (when she isn't kneeing men in the groin) Rogue.

The editing remains much improved from some of LL's books last year. I think she is still setting much too hard a schedule for herself and that is bound to affect quality overall. There were little things in this book like saying someone was "cowarding" which I'll assume was an overlooked typo and not LL thinking that was an actual word. The hero's inner turmoil over his "dark" desires was too similar to Khalid's angst over his menage lifestyle in Guilty Pleasures. Makes a reader nostalgic for those Nauti cousins who are all good with their sex drives and fondness for kink. Also like Khalid (and many a LL hero for that matter) was Zeke staying away for years from the woman he loves who in turn moons over him and remains a virgin. Even Natches' sharp shooting skills were demonstrated in almost exactly the same kind of situation as a few books ago. Oh and the repeated references to Rogue's violet eyes got on my nerves.

Despite all that, I still really liked the book and enjoyed the interactions between Zeke and Rogue who are a perfect match sexually. With Rogue, Zeke lets his dominant, loving, protective Alpha loose with abandon. I would have liked to see more of the cousins, Alex and their wives but it was nice to see or hear about them in passing. It isn't clear if LL plans to do any more Nauti books. She ends Nauti Deceptions in such a way that makes it look like she may be moving on. I could see her doing something with Rogue's brother John (who also has violet eyes, ugh), however. If so, I'll be reading it. The Nauti books haven't let me down yet. (less)

The "action/suspense" part of the book is the same formula as the first four, so that made it extremely tedious. But I'm usually willing to overlook that for a hot, sweet romance, but that wasn't here either.

wow ... a lot going on in this book ... i had to re-read and outline the characters

DHS, domestic terrorist group (Freedom League), "hillbilly" setting and very hot main characters.

The sex scenes were out of this world sex and yet not overly graphic at the same time.

I have plans now to read the first four since they were definite references to earlier events.

Overall, though I loved the book, there did seem that a few details were vague/omitted in the interest of keeping the length in control.

Zeke Mayes is the local sheriff that returned to Somerset after his father died. His father was part of the Freedom League and Zeke has had to contend with consequences of that for the last 10 years. He lost both his mother and his wife due to the Freedom League. Because of the past he doesn’t believe in relationships. He keeps his affairs regulated to the night but Rogue makes him desire more.

I loved this story. The characters are both strong alpha characters. Rogue has had to grow up and become tough after what happened with Dayle and Nadine. She refused to let them get the better of her. She is outspoken, tough as nails and loves to stir up trouble. The bar is her home but she is starting to feel restless there, she would rather be at the restaurant with Janey and Alex. She has been in love with Zeke for as long as she can remember but can’t get him to see her as anything other than “too young”.

Zeke is all alpha male. He believes it’s his right to protect what is “his” and he considers Rogue his. He has a dark past that he is worried will catch up with him and cause her harm. He has even darker desires that he is afraid to unleash on the innocence that is Rogue.

The sexual tension between these two characters is great. You know they will end up together eventually and when they do it’s going to be HOT!! Rogue trusts Zeke with the one thing she never given anyone else, her innocence. She wants him to lose control with her like he never has before. She wants to capture not only his heart but his soul, just like he holds hers. Loved the kitchen scene!!

The story flows well, is a fast easy read that draws you in from the start. My only complaint is that it is fairly predictable. I figured out who the bad guy was about halfway through the book but it didn’t stop me from wanting to finish it and see how everything played out. I was even surprised at a couple of the things that tied the story together. I loved that we got to see Janey and Alex again and the other Nauti boys were mentioned. I was even glad to see Cranston still around, maybe he will have his own story to tell.

Overall, I think it was a great read and would definitely recommend it (and anything else Lora Leigh writes). I give this book 4 ½ Flaming Hearts.

Not my favorite of this series, though I was hoping it might be. I had high expectations but the book didn't quite meet them. Still, it was a good book, and I liked it for the most part.

This was a good read. Although I didn't like it quite as much as the previous books in the series, maybe more of a three and a half stars instead of four. This story is about Sheriff Zeke Mayes and Rogue Walker. The previous cast of characters ( the nauti boys and their wives) are prevalent in the story and I always enjoy reading about them.
The story was suspenseful with lots of action and plenty of steamy scenes. And as always, I love the witty, sharp dialogue between the characters.

MANE! I loved this book it showed dreading desire to a women who knew that the sheriff had plenty of people in his bed, but he wanted her. He knew that his love for her was against all he stood for but he didn't care. She kept getting under the man's skin wanting him to bed her and when he finally did she lost her virginity. Come on mane you cant tell me this book isn't thrilling. A real page turner. Then Zeke belonged to a gang his father put him in and he's left rogue all by herself. JESUS!

And God damn it, I wanted to like Zeke-in fact I did at first-but his sulky behavior and attitude made me want to bash him over the head. He's still pretty hot though...more

I thought this started out slow. When the mystery/crime solving part of the pot began in earnest, I thought it picked up, mostly because a lot of the events involved with the crime solving tied into Rogue and Zeke's relationship. This book is also the fifth in a series, and while there was enough back story provided to fill any holes, I think I would have enjoyed it more having read the other books in the series first.

Rogue is totally awesome. But she went from kick ass, to I'm pissed at Zeke screw him, to literally screwing him. Over and over and over. Zeke just repeats over and over how Rogue shouldn't anger him, piss him off or turn him on too much. At certain points I wanted to scream "no means no." I understand you want to be kinky or a little forceful sometimes, but after a certain point I put down the book and came back to it later.
