I enjoyed the few Harlequin romances I read by this author, and this is the first book in this series I've read (so I don't have all the details), but it most certainly also be the last.

This story had more holes in it than Swiss cheese, but that was only one of the problems...

1. The initial premise was stupid. Sorry, but I don't see a problem with a guy who speaks his mind. It's a breath of fresh air nowadays when everybody is lying through their teeth. Also, I had no pro More...

Not my favorite of the SBC Fighters series, but definitely better than My Man Michael (gosh, even the thought of that one makes me shudder). This book actually has two couples in it - Drew and Gillan as well as Brett and Audrey (and I would say each couple has equal time in the book). Drew, as anyone who has been following the series, is the head of the SBC. Gillian is hired to help "tone" down his image (he has a tendency to say what he feels with no filters). It's instant attra More...

I think this was even better the second time around. Drew is a highly intelligent but brash kind of guy. He's good at what he does, takes his business seriously and doesn't put up with the BS. My kinda guy. Gillian is equally smart, put together, sexy and a real woman and Drew can't get enough of her. They are both attracted to each other from the get-go and we're not forced into the back and forth "will he/she or won't he/she" that some authors put you through. More...

i have just finished this book today and i loved it!!!!! this book is about gillian and drew they meet and as soon as she sees him she thinks he is just another playor looking for some ass to nail. but later she finds out he's different but only with her. as soon as drew sees her he thinks she is just some up tight broad with a stick up her ass.

I got this book out of the library, thinking I'd give it a try.

The start was great, when the heroine, Gillian, had some spunk and didn't do all her later hand-wringing. I didn't mind Drew as a Bad Boy, but the whole premise of him needing a 'handler' was pretty thin and I never really figured out exactly what she was expected to do. What was her job? Who was she, exactly? She had no background, and I could hardly picture her in my mind. He was more of the main focus, I felt we got to More...

In many respects you can never go wrong with Lori Foster. My mom (who doesn't read romances) might argue that Foster's work is formulaic and therefore expected. This might be the case in very general terms with the plot (boy meets girl, something must be overcome, HEA) but really she puts out a lot of very different stuff. I mainly love her stuff because of her characterization. I think she writes people well. Her characters are different from book to book, and for me this is what makes me come More...

I did enjoy this and it was an entertaining couple of hours worth of read. I love Lori Foster and after 'My Man Michael', I had everything crossed that the last in this series wouldn't be a disappointment. Unfortunately for this book, 'Simon Says' (SBC Fighters 2) is one of my favourite books EVER and in comparison this book doesn't really compare, but... I liked it well enough.

Drew is the blunt talking, hot headed president of the SBC. Both him and his temper could do with a litt More...

I have a weak spot for the Pygmalion trope, which is why I got this book (not familiar with the series, although I don't think the book suffers at all for being read as a stand-alone).

Couldn't have been more disappointed. For my own tastes, the hero is unrelentingly crude and offensive, and although we're supposed to believe that his generous nature makes this okay...well, no. No, thank you. In the end we're also supposed to believe that his crassness is in fact the best way to hand More...

Lori Foster is one of the best romance authors out there and with this new novel she brings a light entertaining romance. This could be read as a stand alone or as a SBC fighters series. The story tells about Drew Black the face and founder of the SBC and how he falls in love with his PR advisor Gillian Noode who is hired against his will to clean up his act. There both very strong characters and it's very entertaining to read how they fall for each other. There's another mini romance in t More...

Let's start this way, this latest release by Lori Foster, Back in Black, about her beloved SBC fighters and organization is truly a 180 in my opinion from My Man Michael, no doubt about it. With that being said I don't think that it was her best, in my heart that space is reserved for Hard to Handle. In Back to Black I was anxious to read about Drew Black and watching him meets his match. Lori Foster really made a gem when she created Gillian; she is smart, witty and sharp. No matter what the si More...

I haven't been a contemporary fan for awhile. As with most genres you tend to stick to that one then forget there is much more out there.
As in this instance.
Honestly, the cover drew me in. Nothing like sexy man tummy to make your day I say. Once I sat down and started reading, the story hooked me.

Drew Black is the president of the SAC- a huge mixed martial arts organization. The powers that be have decided that he needs an image remake because frankly, his sucks. He's lou More...

I had forgotten what fun Lori Foster's SBC books are!

This book follows two pairs of folks who become romantically entangled, and due to the extra love-struck couple, the book sizzles but also flies by. There is no shortage of action, and even so Ms. Foster manages so show so many different sides to so many different opinions about SBC fighting. Because that is a really horrible sentence :) I'll explain.

Gillian is hired to remake Drew's public image as President of SBC. More...

I liked this one better than My Man Michael. I enjoy the books that bring previous characters into it. The threats and attempts on Drew's life make some suspense as well.

Drew Black, president of the SBC fighting organization, is as controversial as they come. But the hot-headed entrepreneur is a perfect match for his popular sports club venture: uncompromising and extreme. Maybe too extreme. With a reputation for saying what he thinks, Drew's been causing a lot of friction. That's More...

Let me just start by saying I want to marry Drew Black! His dirty mouth and macho charisma were astounding. This character made me laugh, sigh and want to curl up in bed with him. This is book 5 in the SBC series and bet your last dollar I'm going to be purchasing the first 4 right after I write this review. Ms. Foster gave me a full-figured heroine that I could relate to and adore. Ms. Noode (very funny!) was sophisticated, attractive, professional and vulnerable. The two characters complimente More...

Back in Black is the story of a highly successful president of a mixed martial arts organization and the PR hotshot who is supposed to improve his image. Drew Black is rude, crude, foul mouthed and sexist. He's also a genius at what he does and has a softer side he hides. For that matter, he seems to want to hide his highly decent side but he is a good man. Though appalled by much of what he says and how he does things, Gillian is nonetheless drawn to Drew who is likewise attracted to her. More...

This is a continuation of her series with the SBC. In this installment we meet former player/current SBC businessman Drew Black. His image is in need of some tweaking, which prompts the hiring of Gillian Noode (pronounced “nude”). Gillian is all business, but Drew is determined to crack her thick outer shell. These two have a continuing sparring match, which leads to some serious chemistry, while we meet up with Brett Bullman and Audrey. Brett is an up-and-coming fighter with a prototypical More...

Back in Black, by Lori Foster is a romance novel about Drew Black, the president of an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) organization, and Gillian Noode, the publicist hired to "clean up" his act. In a side story, fighter Brett Bullman gets entangled with Audrey Porter, founder of WAVS (Women Against Violent Sports). Both couples find themselves caught in the twisted plans of a psychopath who is trying to ruin their lives.

As with most romance novels, this was an easy read. The story More...

Well Lori Foster has been one of my favorite go to author for mainstream romance with that extra kick. Lately I have been disappointed with her writing and I had this book on my list for a while and was hesitant to read it. I liked it and it is closer to her older writing and has that spicyness that I liked and the story was pretty good. I must say I loved Drew's foul mouth (hey I am the same way although not sooo frequent since I am a teacher!) He More...

I really liked this book...I would have to say better than My Man Michael. Drew and Gillian made the best couple ever and Brett and Audrey are such a sweet couple. Drew Black is known as the bad-ass, rude and completely uncaring, until Gillian Noode showed up. Set on helping shape his attitued. Instead she fell in love with the raw edges of Drew Black. As things start heating up with them so does the threat against him. Millie Christian is a women set on revenge for the way Drew Black humilitate More...

As a person who believes in non-violence of every kind, it is funny that one of my favourite series is this one on SBC fighters, by Lori Foster. The reason is, she makes it sound interesting and the characters are believable and funny and really get into your head and heart.
In this one, the enfant terrible of the SBC, Drew, meets the woman of his life - who is there to rub off his rough edges and teach him to be more PR friendly. She also is a larger than life character and their battles More...

After a bad last book and 2 so so before that I was a little hesitant to read this one. But I am happy to say that this one was really good and lived up to the promise that was the first book.

I liked Drew, yes he was crude, but not in a way that set out to offend people until they crossed him. Did I think he could use those rough edges polished, yes, so I was happy to see that Gillian was hired to do just that.

You knew right from the start that sparks would fly and the More...

I fell in love with Lori Foster's writing when I happened upon a copy of Never Too Much. After reading that one I found the other books in that series and knew I'd never have too much. She is awesome! In her SBC fighters series she combines two of my favorite things: mixed martial arts (namely sweaty men overpowering each other) and romance. I'd been looking forward to Back in Black since the character of Drew Black was first mentioned. His slight similarities to Dana White of the UFC are hilari More...

I really enjoyed reading this book. The interaction between Gillian and Drew was very compelling. I also really loved Brett and Audrey's little story, they were great. The only thing I didn't like (and why I didn't give it 5 stars) was the ending. While it was technically a good ending, I felt like it was a little abrupt. The book was just suddenly over - I felt like there could have been a little more closure. But, regardless, it was a really good read, and I would recommend to all Lori Foster More...

Drew had been in all the other books, but he was never really developed very much accept for his use of swear words. I wasn't sure what kind of person was going to come from all of that, but I was pleasantly surprised. I supposed the premise isn't too original...bad boy turns out to be a man with a heart, but it worked. Drew needs his job and his bosses have found someone to help him keep. Problem is, he wants nothing to do with her...at first. Gillian not only changes his mind, but so he c More...

Another awesome book in the SBC series. Drew Black is a very rough around the edges man but readers quickly learn there is more to the man than simply swearing a lot. Gillian's behavior as far as getting involved with him was unethical as his publicist but not out of realm of possibility and readers quickly look beyond that as their relationship steams up and promises to turn into something more solid. Foster did a great job of spinning a superbly reasonable situation out of what could have easi More...

Great story about Drew Black The president of the SBC and Gillian Noode a PR expert the company owners have sent in to help reform Drew's many rough edges and try to control his nasty mouth. Gillian doesn't tell Drew who she is and when his eyes sees her, he wants her. But when he finds out who she is he calls the owners, but he finds out their isn't anything he can do. As time goes by their relationship grows sexually and romantically.

Very good book. This is the first SBC book I've read, but I will go back and read the others. I liked Drew. He had a foul mouth, but he was very smart and a good person at heart. He just didn't show that part to anyone. Gillian was assigned to curb his attitudes and make him more presentable. She figured out pretty quickly that he was ok - she just pointed out to him when honey worked better than vinegar. I also enjoyed the secondary story of Brett and Audrey. Excellent read. Gillian Noode a PR expert is hired to smooth over the rough edges of Drew Black, president of SBC fighting organization. Drew is having none of the make over and instigates conflict at every turn to throw Gillian off track.
