The detail of the characters is fantastic. The writing needs work. It begins by saying the castle will soon be under attack, but after the first page, there is no storyline, just a peek at what's inside the castle. Pick one or the other: pick a storyline OR have every page ONLY be about what's inside the castle.

Each page is cutaway, so as you turn the pages, you proceed past the drawbridge, through the portcullis, into the courtyard, into the keep, etc... Again, just an interesting mechanism. The artwork kind of reminded me of Where's Waldo books, if less silly. The text is aimed at a four-year-old, and even they might be able to pick holes in the plot. (why is a joust going on at the same time the castle is under siege, daddy?)

The cut-out pictures were very cool and, while only one page specifically asked you to do it, some children and I had a lot of fun having each other search for things in the busy pictures. The text is short and a fast read.

PICTURE BOOK
Very creative! I love that it is interactive for children. They can find objects in pictures and I love that the pages are cut-outs. Very fun for kids!
