This is my guilty pleasure series. Does anyone else have one of those?

These books really aren't all that exceptionally written, the plot is about as predictable as the end of the Titanic movie (I mean we all know the boat sinks..) and the characters really aren't all that spectacular, but I can't help but devour these books in one whole setting.

I literally cannot stop turing the pages fast enough... even though I really already know what is going to happen. How that even makes any sense I don't...more

It was so intense, I even got angry, had to put the book down then come back to it later. Hayden is curse with feeling every ones emotions. Sometimes she needs to leave in order to make her feel better. She meets Daniel who is a new arrival at their sanctuary. Daniel is dark and mysterious and is holding a secret.

3.5 stars. After reading books 1 through 3 in this series, I thought that I had pretty much figured out the formula for each book : lonely girl overcomes obstacles in order to finally be with her soulmate, who happens to be a wolf shifter, the same as her.

The stories were cute, but fairly innocent. Average at best, but still enough for me to invest a lazy hour or two with because I'm a sucker for young love.

I truly enjoyed this series because of the unique take Ms. Hawthorne portrays for the world of the female shape shifters. However, this fourth book was by far my favorite and that is saying something. This installment has the most unusual storyline yet. The main character Hayden was selfless, courageous, sweet and possesses the charming ability to accept people for who they are without judging. The hero, Daniel, loves the strength Hayden exudes.

I read this book in a very short amount of time, not because the story was short, but because i liked it so much :). Absolutely wonderful, the characters in the book were from past books in the series and the romance story entangled within the whole evil being trying to kill me story really captured my attention. Wrong, soon a soul stealing creature comes and brings with him threats of killing his next victim on the night of her first shift, Hayden. Feeling scared, alone and utterly helpless she runs far away, to live like a normal person until it is her time to change into a werewolf. Only problem is that for females, when it is their time to shift, the need a mate top help guide them through it. Without a mate, Hayden faces a very big possibility of dying. Shes willing to take that risk though, she doesn't want anyone else dying because of her, so when a handsome and sexy as hell guy comes to take her back and also saying that he was chosen to be her mate, well she does everything in her power to escape his grasp, both emotionally and physically. But time reveals that she wont ever be able to escape from Daniel. Their love blooms through out their journey back home, and thoughts of accepting him as her mate race through her mind. Yet when the time comes her answer is no, so she will faces the shifting alone, with a soul eating creature trying to kill her. But Daniel loves her too much to do that, he will stands by her side, do anything and everything it takes to keep Hayden safe. All the while relishing in the fact that Hayden is now his forever. Her kitty man. This book was just amazing i was so sad to see it end, i kind of wanted to see what happens in their relationship. Por cómo había terminado el libro anterior no sabía cual iba a ser el camino que tomaría la autora con este, parece ser que va a seguir contando historias de amor, pero explorando otros caminos con la intención de enriquecer el mundo que ha creado y aunque es un libro que se disfruta a mi parecer pierde un poco la novedad de los anteriores. No estoy muy segura de si va a continuar con esta saga o este ha sido el último, lo digo por el desarrollo de ésta y no me refiero que se corta la historia a...more Por cómo había terminado el libro anterior no sabía cual iba a ser el camino que tomaría la autora con este, parece ser que va a seguir contando historias de amor, pero explorando otros caminos con la intención de enriquecer el mundo que ha creado y aunque es un libro que se disfruta a mi parecer pierde un poco la novedad de los anteriores. No estoy muy segura de si va a continuar con esta saga o este ha sido el último, lo digo por el desarrollo de ésta y no me refiero que se corta la historia al final si no que deja abierta la opción de poder seguir escribiendo más de estas historias.

La lectura como siempre es ágil y se lee bastante rápido, uno de los peros es que en la traducción hay algunos diálogos que están mal redactados y la idea que quieren transmitir no es del todo clara, sin embargo la trama se entiende perfectamente puesto que como en los libros anteriores trata de como dos cambiaformas que se conocen y se van enamorando.
En algunas cosas es bastante predecible puesto que como ya mencione desarrolla la misma temática sólo que con personajes diferentes aunque con algunas cosas nuevas, pero es básicamente lo mismo, es un libro al que no le puedes exigir mucho, más bien vendría siendo como uno de esos libros que sirven para relajarte después de alguna lectura más complicada.
De las cosas que me han gustado es que la protagonista Hayden al ser empática y al experimentar todas las emociones de los cambiaformas te ayuda a entender muchas cosas relacionadas con éstas y de como es el mundo de ellos visto desde este aspecto; además del porque de su manera de actuar y de las decisiones que toma.
El protagonista Daniel guarda varios secretos y aunque se agradece a la autora esos giros en la trama con respecto a los anteriores libros, es algo bastante predecible.
Los diálogos entre los protagonistas se disfrutan y en algunas ocasiones logran sacarte una sonrisa tonta.
Es un libro que se disfruta, que te hace sonreír pero que por desgracia no es lo suficientemente novedoso con respecto a los demás, entiendo que la autora ha querido aportar algo nuevo para seguir generando nuevas historias en este mundo que ha creado pero al seguir la misma línea argumental que los demás éste se nota opacado y reducido.
Una historia a la que no le puedes exigir mucho, recomendable si te han gustado los anteriores y ya sabes lo que vas a encontrar, pero si esperas algo diferente te puede llegar a decepcionar.(less)

Para mi sin lugar a duda, el primero fue el mejor libro. El segundo me engancho pero no era lo mismo; el tercero me hizo arrugar la nariz y preguntarme varias veces WTF?! pero este... este se lleva la palma.

well, first this book has the best cover among all the dark guardian series (the girl is really pretty in here unlike the other three....bleee.....). second, this is by far the best story among the four books. mainly because it involves a different type of shifter which is daniel (he's not a wolf....guess what????) and last, by far daniel is the hottest shifter among the four books (male shifter that is).

Ce quatrième tome fait un peu rajouté à la saga sans vraiment de planification depuis le début. Si je dis cela c'est que nous suivons un personnage que nous n'avons il me semble (ou alors j'étais vraiment distraite) jamais rencontré. L'intrigue des trois précédents étant également terminée l'histoire prend un tournant un peu différent. Dari ke-empat dark guardian yang dah kubaca,aku paling suka cerita tentang Daniel dan Hayden. Chemistry mereka benar2 terasa dan sangat kuat, ga seperti ketiga yang lain yang menurutku seh agak lambat gitu alurnya.

Although Hayden dosen't mind it, she still refuses to take Daniel as a mate because she dosen't want to put him in danger when the Harvester comes. When her transformation does come, Hayden told the elders about Daniel being a panther and he is locked away, she did this to protect him but knew that doing that she might of lost him forever. In the woods for her transformation the dark gaurdians circle and protect her, when the Harvester comes it brings along hell hounds, while the gaurdians fight the hell hounds Hayden tells the harvester to take her and only her, then a black shadow tackles the harvester, it's Danial (yay!)! As he fights the harvester Hayden takes a silver sword from a guardian and stakes the harvester through the heart destroying it and releasing all the souls it stole. After Daniel stays with Hayden through here transformation, and she finally accepts him as her mate. Returning to wolford, Daniel is on trial in front of the elders to learn more about it. He expands that panthers aren't like wolves they are loners and he wanted to learn the wolves way to save his race. The elders accept him into wolford and let him keep his title of gaurdian. But he explains to them that he must go out and find other panthers and shifters and bring them to the safety of wolford, the elders agree that he is always welcome and that other shifters are also welcome. When it's time to leave Hayden goes with Daniel to find more shifters, and when it ends she knows that he was her soul mate, and now he's all hers forever, no matter what he shifts into.

nah, aku rasa buku yg k4 ini kurang ada kaitannya ama 3 buku yang pertama. soalnya 3 buku yg pertama kan musuhnya para manusia yang ngadain percobaan pada manusia srigala itu. nah klo buku yg k4 ini nyeritain konflik mereka sama Harvester.
tapi yang bikin aku lumayan senang, keakraban tokoh2 dark guardian. Lucas-Kayla, Rafe-Lindsey, trus Connor-Brittany. (aku paling suka ama kisah Brittany-Connor, hehe)

trus ternyata si Daniel nih orangnya susah ditebak. kadang2 dia dingin, trus pembawaannya tenang gitu. trus kadang2 ada humor dia jg..

A nasty creature bent on eating her. She turns to help from Daniel, who seems to know a lot about these things. During their time of getting to know each other, Daniel finally grows comfortable enough to tell her his secret. He is not a werewolf but a panther! Hayden is surprised by this knowledge. She finds out that Daniel's people and family have been wiped out by Harvesters and came to the shifter sanctuary to find a way to kill it. His mother told him to go there for help. Daniel thought it was a place for all shifters, not just werewolf. They run into more drama and this is were Hayden really ticked me off. She betrayed him! In the moment that Daniel needed her the most, in order to save her own butt she reveals to the consul that Daniel is not only who he says he is but a panther! Daniel is immediately hurt and angry at her betrayal. The council has no other choice but to lock Daniel up seeing that he deceive them all. And what does Hayden do? Instead of sticking up for the guy she supposedly loves she just lets them take him away as if he was really going to hurt them. UGH!! Oh and this part gets me even more angry. In the end, being the nice guy Daniel is. He forgives her and takes her back. After she betrayed him, she is immediately almost killed by the Harvester. Daniel hears her cries, breaks out of the cage, goes after to save her. Let me tell you, if it was me, I would have left her there. She can save herself! But no, Daniel rushes out, save her and forgives her.

My review: I will not be involving my usual format of characters, facts, etc. Because I dont really have time to sit here and read the book at the same time.. So anyway, heres my review. The beginning was amazing. I mean, by the fifth page you might as well been captured bait. It was like BAM!- straight to the point. When you start meeting Daniel and getting to know him more, you'll literally be glued to this book. And theres going to be a magnet between you two until the book ends. For some, probably for the rest of their life(ish).Back to the point, the beginning was a pretty good start. And it gets better throughout the book. Although at the end, I'll honestly say it kind of went too fast. It was like "I'm turning into a wolf. We shift together. I spend time with my beloved Daniel. We talk to the elders and leave." all in a few pages. I'm not saying this part ruined the book, I'm just saying what I think was maybe a-little too speedy to some people. Oh, theres one more thing I felt unconfortable with in this. Its the denial. I mean seriously, I know most books have girl characters that would go through all this doubt and whatever but it just gets on my nerves sometimes. I love a strong character, those who are ready to face anything that blows their way. There might be some denial in them, but they accept what's real- what's right in front of them. In this, it kinda took awhile, but at least she ended up accepting. Overall, this was a nice good read, with fuzzy love and a shocking realization. This might rank as either third or tied with second(Rafe n Lindsey) place in my list of rankings for the 'Dark Guardians' series. Guess what's my fav in this whole series so far? Lucas and Kayla :) That was such an exotic, exciting read!

She will go through her full moon alone, a dangerous prospect for any female shifter. Normally, a female shifter would go through her first shift with her mate to distract her from the pain. But the emotions of Wolford are not the only reason that Hayden wants to try. The elders have no interest in her trying, they send the hot and mysterious Daniel to find her and bring her back and they have chosen him to be her mate. Will she except Daniel and let him help her survive her first shift or will she refuse to let him risk his life for her? Will Daniel be able to convince her to return?

My thoughts:
My bias is that I love Rachel Hawthorne’s writing. She does such a nice job of giving a few clues and some nice surprises along the way. The story follows a similar path to the other dark guardian stories but with twists to make is enjoyable and different. I loved the characters. Daniel had showed up in the last book but we didn’t know him very well. In this book, he takes center stage and pulls off that tall dark and I’m protecting you whether you like it or not attitude. Hayden is a new character and she is strong and thoughtful. I sympathized with her and rooted for her. The world of the dark guardians continue with the characters from the previous books there for brief rolls. I love this world that Rachel has created. It is rich and full. I have enjoyed the series and hope that she writes more in it. I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars.

And I just finished the latest Dark Guardian book and why did I felt such a loss when I turned the last page? Daniel and Hayden formed a unique relationship, not just because Hayden is unique among her own kind, but Daniel is also different from their kind. I would never in a million years guessed that he would shift into a panther, he always gave me this impression that he is a wolf, true to his heart. But the fact was shocking.

I had a very good time reading this book, not once I got tired or bored, it had kept me going on till I finished the last page. What I loved about the series is that the element of love is vividly present, although logically speaking, who could've found love in just a matter of days? I always found that hard to accept yet I didn't seem to mind them, no not at all. And did I mention about the tattoo again? I think it is a very dreamy sign of showing how deep is a bond. I always had a thing for supernatural beings (especially after reading The Twilight series and Morganville series) and The Dark Guardian series is definitely worth to check out. Maybe you won't like the series because it's a bit short, but I think they are great.

Back to the book, it was amazing...I symphatize Hayden because she had always been an outcast, never really felt truly belong even in her own kind because she was blessed with this 'gift', to experience other people's emotions which had made her a freak. But what is different with Daniel is that, she couldn't feel him (something like Edward couldn't read Bella's mind). So that was how their relationship started. With the full moon just around the corner, Hayden didn't even have a mate, and I thought it was sweet (and loving) of Daniel to have volunteered (though he was secretly in love with her). I thought that the way he approached her had came in qite hard and forceful yet tender at the same time, somehow I liked it, haha. And did I mention that the involvement of the Harvesters just made things more interesting? It definitely served as an intriguing twist in the story, though I hope the fighting scene would be elaborated.

Praises to Rachel for another great book! And if there would be a fifth book, my guess it would centered around Seth and a girl? Can't wait for it!

This is the fourth Dark Guardian book and I really enjoyed it! I have no idea if this is the last book are they're will be more after this but I thoroughly enjoyed Shadow of the Moon.

Hayden and Daniel are great characters and really quite beautifully written. I love how Hayden fights what she feels for Daniel but eventually gives into the love she has for him but won't risk him getting hurt. The twist with Daniel was great, a little bit expected but I enjoyed the way it was written and explained.

Favourite Quote: "I love you." He grinned, the smile that had first made my knees grow weak. "I know. Good thing, too." He nuzzled my neck. "Because I can find you anywhere."

I'm not quite sure where Shadow of the Moon fits in time wise from the previous book Dark of the Moon, I know it's after but not how long after.

My problem with Shadow of the Moon, is mainly directed towards Hayden and her getting away with certain aspects that would be normal in any teenagers life. Hayden's 16 when she runs away from the other Dark Guardians, she goes to an all girls boarding school and when school is out she returns back to the Dark Guardian sanctuary. While Hayden's 'missing' for three weeks she turns 17, yet she's able to pass as a college student. Although I don't want to ruin the ending there's no mention of Hayden returning back to school or Daniel for that matter. It's one of the problems I find with YA stories, trying to get the character to maintain a 'normal' lifestyle that other people have.

It was nice, not only to still have the character's from the previous books brought back into this one and meet new character's such as Seth, but to know a little more about the characters. It was great to see how much Conner loved Brittany and know that Hayden could really feel there love and know it was real.

Overall Shadow of the Moon is a great book and I hope there are more Dark Guardian books planned for the future!(less)

I take no pleasure in writing a less-than-positive review of a 'Dark Guardian' novel. As a fan of werewolves and well-crafted romances, I was drawn to the previous book, 'Dark of the Moon,' and largely enjoyed it. Afterward, I began looking forward to this one, and had also considered reading Book #1 in the meanwhile (the novels don't necessarily have to be read in order). I just don't find it romantic when one member of a relationship is overly controlling and forceful, and Daniel (who shows up to bring Hayden with him whether she likes it or not) is about as assertive and pushy as it gets. He even touches Hayden repeatedly without consent while throwing in little requests for obedience -- as one would do to a small child. None of this comes across as moving; it instead eliminates a sense of equality early on. The fact that he's polite about it, constantly "grinning," does not make it any less off-putting. And while Hayden is portrayed as having a strong will, it frequently crumbles in the face of shallow physical attraction. As a result, she's only half endearing as a protagonist. Since I couldn't enjoy the relationship -- which is at the core of a 'DG' story -- I couldn't really enjoy the novel overall. In my opinion, it would've been more romantic if he'd simply offered to watch over her in whatever decision she made, rather than trying to remove choice from the matter.

It's notable that at one point in the book, there's mention of a certain character in this series falling in love "slowly and over time." I couldn't help but dispute that claim, however, because a few days worth of changed feelings doesn't amount to "slowly." The feelings in this novel are similarly rushed in my opinion, which gets me wondering why the author's in such a hurry to make her characters fall in "love." As several of these couples are just starting to know each other, I'd find it more believable -- and a lot less predictable -- if some of them were simply headed in that direction.

I have a lot of respect for Hawthorne's ability to craft an interesting mythology with fascinating little mysteries. I have a lot of respect for her ability to craft concise, well-written sentences that keep the story flowing well. I just don't care for the way she chose to use her gift in this particular novel. Perhaps this one was meant to appeal to submissive readers who think that being controlled (not just helped) by a stereotypical 'bad boy' would be romantic. The previous book (and the others, from what I understand) did not have this issue, which made for a better romance and a more admirable heroine. As such, I'm going to read the first 'DG' novel, and hope that any future ones hew closer to the series' tradition.(less)

After the last three books this one takes the cake. When I first read this excerpt before reading the last book I had vastly different ideas about what this book was about. Even after I read the last book I had different but still vastly different ideas about what this book was about. All ideas were wrong. This was the best book of this series so far. The author did a good job in allowing the reader to get to know the two main characters. I could understand Hayden's strength and her loneliness at being a Shifter empath. This is the fourth book in the Dark Guardian series, and for me totally different than the first three. While it takes place in the same setting, the main characters, Hayden and Daniel, are different from our previous friends.
