Recommends it for: those who want to make a big leap in their lives
I am really enjoying this book. It is written in small digestible chunks, and although it is somewhat intense material to engage with originally (it is chanelled from a collective group of beings named Abraham, it is very applicable and has helped me to make some shifts mentally that feel great in my life.

One of their arguments is that something feeling good is evidence of its being in line with who you are. That is advice I can certainly connect with. Very clear and easy to accept.

Read at the right time, especially when on a spiritual path, I think this could be one of those life changing or at least very pivotal books to read. It's very simply set out and easy to comprehend which is great for those who are only just learning or discovering law of attraction. As for people who already know about law of attraction I think it's great for a reminder and for fine tuning what you know.
I did find it to be slightly repetitive but I feel that given the subject and taking into con
Esther Hicks writes for a "nonphysical intelligence" known as Abraham in this former New York Times Best Seller, Ask and It is Given. What I found most interesting in Ask were the deviations from Esther and Jerry (her husband) Hicks' 1989 book A New Beginning I, which predicted various "earth changes" that were on the brink of occurring in 1989, including simultaneous volcanic eruptions that would cover the earth's air with ash. In Ask, these revelations of turbulence are not even touched upon. ...more
A full year after reading this book, and following the "Ask And It Is Given" Formula, the items I placed in my perfect heart shaped box, are coming into reality every day! I asked to create a best selling book to help children succeed in school - and did; I asked to crate a dream team to assist me in helping others become excellent readers and got one; I asked for a specific registered trademark which every attorney said would never happen, and yet, it was granted -- and so much more. Wow. This book was kicking aorund my house for 18 months before I read. The cover looked, and the titled sounded, like it was religious. Then I opened it and I started to make all these miraculous things happen. I have found it transformative to say the least. I read it concurrently with 'Conversations with God" so the "channeled writing" aspect didn't phase me, really.

Today marked the beginning of the reading list for the 200-hour yoga certification. I started with the first book to come in from the library, figuring that one had a deadline so better get it read first.

Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires, by Esther and Jerry Hicks, is a recounting of many workshops and meditation-channeling sessions that the Hicks have had with a Non-Physical Being, identifying himself as Abraham. The book mostly covers topics relating to personal empowermen
The original teachings of Abraham -- won't ever get tired of re-reading this every so often for a fresh perspective! Love it love it love it!
Love the simplicity, the ease with which the Abraham-Hicks material brings out our natural tendencies towards joyful abundance. Reading Abraham always makes me realize that I have a tendency (and I think all of us who are slightly "overeducated" into believing in "the way things are" do) to overcomplicate most things. It doesn't need to be complicated, it'
The book is an expansion on the truth expressed by Jesus in Mark 11: 22-24. "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye ...more
This are and "a crossing or the drop's history" by Anatoliy Obraztsov the absolute best books on how to live your best life. There are literally from "out of this world!"

The authors of the Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires (Abraham) are non-physical beings channeled through the co-writer, Esther Hicks. We will admit that after reading the introductory chapter where this concept is explained, we almost put the book down . We had a MAJOR problem with this concept becaus

Your life really does change when you change your thoughts. It's not easy, but worth it. These books/series/concepts are so inspiring and uplifting to me. I can read this stuff everyday and just feel more energetic, inspired, etc...I never get tired of it. They just released their new one, The Astonishing Power of Emotions, and I went out and got it the first day. I NEVER do that. Warning: it takes an open-mind to really get the most out of this.
What if you could change your life by changing the direction of your thoughts?

I know that this sounds like what one acquaintance of mine calls "woo-woo,"but bear with me.

Esther and Jerry Hicks are presenting information from Abraham, a Non-Physical Being. (Think Jane Roberts and Seth.) Abraham shares ideas about how the direction of our thoughts manifests change in our lives, and some practical ideas/exercises to help you with the process.

I have been doing gratitude work for nearly a year now (t

Picture the scene: a woman is meditating with her husband. This has become regular practice for them since they visited a spiritual guide who told them that they were gifted and would be introduced to their own spirit guide in another realm. They’re just getting their trance on and suddenly, the woman’s head starts to shift about the place in sharp tics as if a swarm of bees has found its way in through her ear. Her head’s really going for it and might spin off at any second, but her husband, ra ...more
"Ask and It Is Given," The Teachings of Abraham, by Esther and Jerry Hicks, does what authors like Dyer, Chopra, Walsch, et al have been trying to do for years - only much better. This book gives clear, easy to understand, practical ideas that will truly change your life for the better. The teachings are profound - and while the general concepts can be found in other books, there are nuances in "Ask and It is Given" that make huge differences.

As a person who has read much in the field of new tho
Ask And It Is Given explains to us the universal laws of attraction on a very personal scale. In essence, our thoughts and emotions are powerful magnets which attract things of a similar vibration. The law is summed up as "That which is like unto itself is drawn." We've all experienced this for ourselves. Ever notice how when you're in a negative mood, you seem to attract even more calamity than usual, as if you're wearing a big "Kick Me" sign? That's because on an emotional/energetic level, you ...more

I was a bit apprehensive to read this book at first. I believe in the law of the universe and the law of attraction but I experienced a great disappointment with the teachings shared in “The Secret”, since I knew they were only showcasing the tip of the iceberg and a process with did not resonate to be accurate to me. For years I’ve gravitated towards the Abraham teachings through Esther & Jerry Hicks, and I can say that so far this book has not only echoed what I feel true and fulfilling in ...more
This book definitely rates AMAZING. I cannot say without doubt that I accept its premise as The Truth; but the application of its tenets can only benefit anyone who applies them. Essentially, it (The teachings of Abraham) are all about Self-Determination, which is what psychotherapy is about. The individual's health and well-being is first and foremost. Given that--the rest will take care of itself. In other words, the world and nature are just fine. Fix yourself; and that by doing so you help o ...more

I never wrote a review before but I felt compelled to do so. My sister bought this book and I decided to read it first.
What impressed me from the beginning were the comments from Wayne Dyer, since he is my favorite author. I have several self-help books in my collection, but I have never read a book that gave me such a profound and clear understanding as to why I am not getting all that I desire in life. I read it in 2 days and now I'm re-reading it and highlighting just about every page and doi
Giving this book a rating is very difficult. On one side I believe it's a must-read for everyone who's interested in the law of attraction and all that, on the other side it's very repetitive and also I have difficulties believing every single thing like f.e channeling, (this book is not written by Ester but by Abraham, a spirit who took over her body while she wrote the book?) or growing new body parts if we just -believe we can do it-. Sometimes it doesn't make any sense at all. But if you can ...more
Wonderful reminder to keep track of what you are thinking about.. think of joy and happy things, and get joy and happy things.. think of bad and unhappy things, and get that too... I have read this book about 12 times... and get something new out of it each time... And people wonder why I am in such a good mood all the time, and why my life is so great? HELLO????
Truly the best Abraham-Hicks book written! Probably the best, most useful, transformational book I own. This book is most recommended because of 22 processes in the back of the book that turn it into a literal handbook as to how you can revolutionize your life! There is not one other book that I am aware of that has such transformational information between its covers.

This book changed my thinking, altered my belief system, and greatly improved every aspect of my life! It is the most powerful book I have every read. I just finished reading The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent by the same authors
and found it be equally as stimulating. The exercises and techniques in these books are fabulous and life-changing.

So finally I read this book, a classic in the subject of manifestation. It was different than I expected, which is good. It's not about sitting around and visualizing what you want and presto! it appears on your doorstep. No, it's about thinking of yourself as a vibrational energy, and becoming aware of what vibe you're vibrating at any given time. Negative vibes attract negative experiences and people, while positive vibes...well, you get the point. As Abraham explains (the entity that Esther H ...more
This book is possibly the best purchase I have EVER made for myself.

No stranger to the concept of manifestation (and I have had some amazing manifestation results in the past), I have read many other books about manifestation over the years and even get a daily note from "The Universe" which reminds me that "Thoughts become things".

Despite my familiarity with the topic, this wonderful book had an unusual impact on me.

I was filled with profound joy and an intense feeling of being unconditionally
I have to say that I am sitting here with my jaw on the floor over this book. On my own personal journey of prosperity consciousness and manifesting abundance, I have read just about every book on the subject. I swore I wasn't going to buy another prosperity related book because they all just say the same thing over and over (just in a different way) and frankly I was getting really bored with all the repetition. And, I also just kept having this feeling like something was missing from all of th ...more

In spite of a few reservations about this book, I really got a lot out of it. I've read quite a few books about the Law of Attraction, so I'm familiar with the concept, but this book seemed to do a better job of explaining exactly how it works. For me, the most valuable information in it was about the role emotions play when it comes to the Law of Attraction, along with specific details on how to use your emotions as a guidance system. The first part of the book was about the Law of Attraction a ...more
This book is good in the sense that it focuses entirely on the process of manifesting and attracting your desires.

Some critics will put a low grade on such books because they do not agree with how we can use spirituality to create the things we desire. However as Abraham and other authors such as Ernest Holmes will explain, there is nothing but Spirit! The material(solid) world is a total manifestation of the Spirit(thought energy). And we all come to become human to create with joy.

First half of the book is about the concept behind the law of attraction, creating your future with the power of your thoughts, and how to allow that future to come into being. You need to keep a very open mind with this book to allow it's benefits into your life.

2nd part is a series of excercises to help you define what to ask for. I'm currently working on the "creation box", which is turning into a very interesting project.

Update - Some of the excercises really resonated with me, especially th

Interesting read. I found the first part of the book a bit unsettling, but I like challenging my beliefs, and this book did just that. There's plenty of helpful, positive and uplifting messages to be gleaned from this book, though I found some of the "exercises" in the latter half of the book to be just plain silly. If it works for you, though, it's not silly, is it? To each his own.

Overall, the book's message is a positve one, and I took away enough positive messages from it to make the time s
It took me a long time to read this and I found it hard to get into, simply by the way it was written. There is some valid learning in here, should you take the time to extract it. Some parts just simply annoyed me so very mixed emotions. Glad I stuck with it, liked the concept of the emotional scale, but not sure if I'd recommend it, as there are some out-there new age stuff that bogs it down.

If you are just beginning to explore the wisdom of Abraham Hicks, this is a good place to start. I've read some of their other stuff and, because it was released later than this, they didn't explain all of their vocabulary or how they initially contacted Abraham, ect. So, start here, if you're interested in such things.

I don't know quite what to make of Esther and Jerry Hicks. They seem sincere in their efforts to help other people realize their dreams. Esther really does seem to be a different

“There is no desire that anyone holds for any other reason than that they believe they will feel better in the achievement of it. Whether it is a material object, a physical state of being, a relationship, a condition, or a circumstance - at the heart of every desire is the desire to feel good. And so, the standard of success in life is not the things or the money - the standard of success is absolutely the amount of joy you feel.” 8 likes
