Bone Magic (Otherworld #7)
by
Yasmine Galenorn (Goodreads Author)
We're the D'Artigo sisters: sexy, savvy operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But being half-human, half-Fae short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah is a Were who turns into golden tabby when she's stressed. And Menolly's a vampire who's still trying to get the hang of being undead. As for me, I'm Camille D'Artigo, a wicked-good wi...more

As some people know, I'm Yasmine Galenorn's assistant, now, so I won't be formally reviewing her books, any longer (same with Dakota Cassidy.)
However, one of the side benefits of working for authors is getting ARCs waaayyyy before anyone else does, so I was able to read Bone Magic quite early.
I can still offer my personal opinion on the works of the authors I represent, so here, for what it's worth, is my mini-review of Bone Magic.
I can honestly say that Bone Magic will not let you down. Yasmine...more

Seventh in the Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon urban fantasy romance series revolving, literally, amongst three sisters and the family they have accumulated in Seattle. The perspective this time is with Camille.
My Take
Mmmm, I like the idea of the d'Artigo sisters' old Victorian being a real home and not just a temporary place where they wait out their exile. They've certainly picked up a number of housemates from Maggie to Iris, the girls' various lovers, a few demons, and a cousin.

A Bewitchingly Super-Fast Read
I strongly recommend you read this series in order (Witchling, Changeling, Darkling, Dragon Wytch, Night Huntress and Demon Mistress) prior to reading this installment.
I vowed to never read this series again due to the unnecessary overly graphic sex scenes (that were totally horrible btw). However, reading the short story in Hexed made me a bit nostalgic to see what the sisters have been up to. Surprisingly, I did enjoy this installment. Camille's behavior was not r...more

Whoa momma if the plot gets anythicker in this series my head might just explode!! Ok so this book was a complete mind boggler in terms of higher powers intertwining, poor Camille she is pulled in so many directions in this book! She is such a strong character! There is so much to talk about in this book that I don't want to give it all away, but my mind feels like it was pulled through the wringer trying to figure out all the who's friend /whos foe/ what the hells going on/ can they pull it off...more
I found this book was quite a bit darker than previous installments, and while I still love the characters and the world Galanorn has created, I found this book was missing much of the humour and lightness that has interspersed with the battle part in earlier books.
There wasn't much other than the battle the sisters are facing in this book. A few small moments of happiness, but the vast majority of this story was surrounding the escalating battle the sisters and their extended family [Trillian...more

BLAH! Well I am glad that Trillion is back but WTH? He just shows up? No explanation why he didn't come back sooner or anything like that? He was angry with Camille for getting married to two other men in his absence, with due cause but he was cruel. Smoky's father showed up with Smoky's fiancee, which surprise Camille is jealous about; yet none of her guys care that they all share her??? Anyway beyond that the story is just more of the same. Camille is becoming another Anita Blake, screwing any...more
My expectations for this series have never been high. All I really expect is a fun, wacktastic, OTT adventure with the D'Artigo sisters and their menagerie. With this book, though, I realize that the fun is over (for me, anyway). It's not that the sexual parts are more graphically detailed than in other books, that's easy enough to skip over if you want to. And it's not that it's a one-note series, that can actually be a benefit for work-week reading since you know you're not going to be tempted...more

well let me start off saying, that i really love this series, but i'm highly disappointed in Yasmine Galenorn (writer) this time. let me tell you why...
i usually give this series a 4/5 stars or 5/5 stars i just really enjoy them but this time the book was kind of ruined for me by the fact that now it seems the writer just wants to make the book a lot more about erotica and not the good kind.. which by that i mean Camille bedded Trillian, Smoky and Morio all at once... not my thing!! the act or w...more

This one was all action pretty much. Poor Camille-like a raindrop falling from leaf to leaf-she seems very out of control of her own life, her own destiny, her own anything really. Which is uncharacteristic for any of the sisters-even when things go bad-they usually have some semblance of control in the books. In this one, she goes from scene to scene, always tired and stressed and well, somewhat a victim. Smokey has some conflict with family, Rodney is fun and the Raven Mother is terrifying. Al...more
This series has some great characters within it and the previous books have all been decent. I found that this series was better when Trillian was MIA; however, I do like Trillian's character. I suppose the resulting lack of tension when he returned was a little anticlimactic. Since Trillian is supposed to be her Alpha lover, I would have expected his reaction to have been somewhat more dramatic thereby increasing the turmoil and making this a much more exciting read. I liked learning more about...more
Camille is my favorite character out of all three sisters, followed second by Menolly. I love that she's powerful and ultra sexy. All the sisters are awesome.
I adore all her husbands.. It's hard to rate one book without rating the whole series. All these books are good.
Ms. Galenorn really did make the progression into the series a bit more fluid. At first I got tired of hearing a running synopsis of the story line in each new book so that the new reader could catch up. I do believe in this set...more

Camille D'Artigo is a good witch who deals with learning death magic to help fight the war with Shadow Wing. Along with her sisters, Deliah who is a Were and Menolly who is a vampire. Their friends Chase, Henry, Roz, Iris, Vanzir, and Shamas also help with this fight. They must find Stacia Bonecrusher to save both Earthside and Otherworld. Camille is married to Morio who is a fox demon and Smokey who is a silver dragon but she misses Trillian who has been gone for the past six months. Many thing...more
This was the last book I read from this author - she just got too far out there with the relationships her characters were having. I don't care for girl on girl action and this author doesn't mind it at all along with other relations with animals etc. It has turned me off big time! Other than that the story, plot, originality etc. is great. I may give the next in the series another shot - hopefully this auther is now past the 'shocking' relationship scenes and we can get on with it. If not, I'll...more
Camille makes a serious transformation in this installment of the series. She is brought closer to Morio due to their death magic practices. The Moon Mother and Black Beast give her a great honor. Grandmother Coyote doles out "free" advice. Camille adds a husband and sees a rough and uncertain future headed her way regarding her magic and training. The sisters are evolving and the family is growing. I especially love that Iris reveals some background and some possible adventures for her are allu...more
Don't ask me why I keep reading these. They are kind of a filler when I am out of 1st reads and can't find any thing else to get. But that is one stupid reason to spend money on something! Ah, well.
I really like the premise of the stories. I don't care for the delivery that well. I guess I would have to say that I do want to see what happens...if only I didn't have to read the "Whaaa????" (all those annoying pieces and inconsistencies that just boggles the mind) to get to the 'what happens'.

This one actually felt slow. Mostly the parts that happened in otherworld. I don't like that Camille is starting to get a little self-righteous about the compromises she's had to make. If felt a little Anita Blake to me. She kinda went off on Chase there. I mean first she demands to know what he's thinking and then gets upset about it. Which, is totally a chick thing so that works. But he's not wrong man. Sometimes the sisters end up doing something they feel is immoral because the only other ch...more
In this the 7th installment of this series I am torn between giving this book a 3 or 4 star rating so I went with 3 and I will tell you why.

What would you do if you found yourself on the frontline of a war between demons and the fae? Well, that’s the question the D’Artigo sisters and their friends have to answer in Yasmine Galenorn’s Sisters of the Otherworld series. ~Series spoilers ahead~ These three sisters come from a mixed heritage, half-faerie and half-human. They don’t get much respect at home in Otherworld because their magic erratically backfires. Camille, the eldest and leader of the group, has pledged herself to the Moon...more

I am reading this series in order, and this is so far my favorite book. I see that some reviewers have issues with Camille's relationships, but, for me, this is a fantasy novel - it takes me to a dream world, and I would not mind being Camille for a day - not one bit. OK, make it a year.
What I like most about this series is the always growing and strengthtening relationships, and the sizzling passion. This book more than delivered on that front.

The fact that these books are written in a sequence (Camille, Delilah, Menolly) is making reviewing them a little bit difficult and the reason for that is simply because the stories flow so seamlessly into each other. That in itself is a great thing but seven books into the series or as I like to call it, the third cycle... I'm finding myself having (as in, it's a must) to read the books in three's and I'm a bit frustrated with that.

Yasmine Galenorn is an amazing writer! Each book keeps you coming back for more! I love this series! Keeps you going from beginning to end. So hard to put down! Def must read for adults!

It was really disappointing to me that I had to fight my way through a book in this series. The easy way that the stories usually progress, was not the case at all with this book. This story seemed more disjointed. Camille and Morio...Camille and Trillion...Smoky and issues that were eluded to but not explained...Iris and her past. There were too many questions and not enough answers. I hope they will be answered later.
Book 7 in the Otherworld series. Far and away Galenorn's best! We are taken back to Camille and her men...now married to 2 and seeking the 3rd who has been lost to her. The intrigue is at an all time high, enemies coming from directions you don't expect and some you do. Emotions, magic, sex and mayhem all wrapped up into one package. Can't wait for Harvest Hunting!!
This is a really good continuation of the story. There wasn't a lot of action in the fight against the demons, but the overall storyline continued along as well as the needed catch-up with all the characters. I like this series. I think the author does a great job of showing the uniqueness of each sisters and still continuing the the big picture.

Well that didn't take long. Where the hell is my husband? Or one of the three. Camille defiantly doesn't lack in the husband department.
Ms. Galenorn seems to suffer from to much recapping! Really I think that you could honestly rip out maybe three pages every time that she re-explains an effing character. Sorry, but I don't suffer from short term memory loss. For my sanity PLEASE STOP REPEATING YOURSELF AUTHORS!

I have read all of the books in the series so far, one right after the other, and am completely enjoying them. Just purchased book 9 for my Nook, and can't wait to purchase more in the series. If you like vampires, wereanimals, witches and fae, along with sex extraordinaire and tremendous battles between good an evil, read this series! Enjoy!
This would probobly be a lot more like 2.5 stars. I like the series, I like the charicters, and I like the love/lust scenes. I just wasn't caring about bonecrusher the bad chick. I wasn't buying it. I kind of felt like i was in a story where the purpose to promote Camille to the next level, bring her trio of men together and imagine great sex, but the mystery, or plot was just something the editor insisted on. Anyway, this is my least favorite so far in the series. But still OK.

“What was life has crumbled. What was form now falls away. Mortal chains unbind, and the soul is lifted free. May you find your way to the ancestors. May you find your path to the gods. May your bravery and courage be remembered in song and story. May your parents be proud, and may your children carry your birthright. Sleep, and wander no more.”
