This was a very entertaining story in the LOTU world. Even though we get a glimpse of Reyes and Danika at the beginning, it is only to give us an insight into what is happening in Cronus's side.
Atlas was held captive many years ago, and had tried to seduce all female guards to get someone to release him. Except even then, one of them had been special to him. It wasn't the prettiest girl of the bunch, no, it was Nike, with all her strength, and the way sh...more

This was pretty good, as short stories go, but I have to admit that it left me a little confused. When Atlas broke Nike out of prison, he had to disarm her neckband by placing his fingers on it and blowing into it. I get that part, since he was technically the head dude down in Tarturus. But then when Nike breaks into the prison to rescue Atlas, she does the same exact thing to free him. Wouldn't you think that Cronus would have been smart enough to key those things to where they will only relea...more
Is it just me, or is it kind of weird for gods and goddesses to use “Gods!” as an exclamation? It would be like me exclaiming, “Humans!”
This opens with the reunion of Atlas, Titan god of Strength and Nike, Greek goddess of Strength: "His godly counterpart. His enemy. And an all-around grade-A bitch." Atlas had once seduced Nike into freeing him from prison -- now she's his prisoner. Nike had carved her name into Atlas after discovering he had also seduced three other female guards, now he's retu...more

Spending some much time trying to escape his prison, the Titan God of Strength Atlas was prepared to do anything, even seducing several of his jailors, including the Greek Goddess of Strength, Nike. After the Titans were freed and in turned imprisoned the Greek Gods, Titan found his mind returning to the one Goddess that had marked him with her own name, as punishment for seducing others as well as herself. Now with the hopes of getting her out of his thoughts for good, he turned her own action...more
The short book, The Darkest Prison, begins with Danika awakening from a bad dream. Reyes soothes her and she immediately sets to paint the images she has just envisioned. The painting shows a man Reyes does not recognize – and the man is being tortured in Cronus’ throne room. Reyes and Danika then agree to show Cronus the painting and see if the King of the gods recognizes who the man depicted in it is, thinking it could be a mutual enemy.

For the God and Goddess of Strength. Very cool little novella takes place in the Prison in Tartarus where first Atlas had been imprisoned before the Greeks had been defeated by the Titans now his old flame (well kind of) Goddess Nike it being held in the same Prison as a Greek Goddess this was were they were now kept. One thing I can say for Miss Nike is she doesn't take any crap not that you'd expect the Goddess of Strength to but a Goddness you think beauty or at least I do......more

Mmmh, I liked this story. It was a unique spin-off of Greek mythology, and I'm glad Showalter didn't use a couple already overdone in the books (something like Zeus and Hera, which can be SO typical).
Nike, although the Greek Goddess of Strength, is still a character we mere "humans" can relate to. She has her share of insecurities, and it was endearing how Atlas' perception of her changed as the book progressed. 5 Stars for good plot and great characters!

Oh, I liked this one! It was fast paced and the romance wasn't dainty or slow but, with the history between Atlas and Nike, it worked. Plus, I loved being able to dip my toes back in the world of Gods and Titans. Those guys are just always at each other's throats, aren't they?
As it turns out, Atlas and Nike like to go for more than throats. *wink wink* Yep, those two can't seem to keep their hands to themselves. Well, they *can* keep their hands to themselves. But they don't want to. And they ha...more

With each book and e-book Ms. Showalter writes her writing is constantly improving as well as her creativity. I look more forward to her mini ebooks as well as her novels and this book is no different. The Greek Goddess of Strenght Nike (heroine) and the Lord Titan (Atlas) are two well developed characters that develop an intense hate-love relationship. This relationship quickly reverses itself to a love-hate relationship when the tables are turned and Atlas imprisons Nike to get his hard sought...more
This one was listed as #3.5 of the Lords of the Underworld series. Its a really super short story and is about Atlas, a Titan male and Nike,a greek goddess. Remember that the greek gods had put the Titans in this big ol' jail and recently, the Titans escaped and put the greek gods in the prison.
So Nike was once the prison guard of Atlas and gave him a tattoo of "Nike". Now their positions have changed and Atlas is Nike's prison guard and he gives her an "Atlas" tattoo as revenge. But, they are...more

Lords of the Underworld is one of my favorite PNR series. When I started it, I did not know about the short novellas between some of the books. The Darkest Prison is the first novella right after Reyes and Danika's story in The Darkest Pleasure (they have a cameo at the very beginning actually). This is basically a short story about Atlas the Titan God of strength and Nike the Greek Goddess of strength. Atlas has been imprisoned for so long and resorts to seducing females in prison to try to escape when he meets Nike there again, and after he seduces several other females she gets jealous and carves her name on his chest. They have the atypical love-hate relationship and I found this story very entertaining.

I read this LOTU short story in the Into the Dark anthology, and it's pretty good for such a quick read.

I can't. I just can't. Gina's sinking her claws further into me with every God damned book!

Altas, Titan God of Strength, is a sex-ay mofo that is finally free of Tartarus and in control of the jail once more. He tried to escape before by seducing Nike Greek Goddess of Strength. Her and every other female jailor -_- Typical, idiot male, he was in love with her but was single-minded on getting free so screwed her over anyway.

This was short and cute and naughty, a quick read about Nike and Atlas. Nike is the Greek Goddess of Strength, Atlas is the Titan God of Strength - and they have some history.
Both fight the attraction, first while Atlas is imprisoned under the Greeks where Nike is his Prison Ward, and then in complete opposite, when the Titans overthrow the Greeks, Nike is imprisoned under Atlas' guard.
But, oh the power of love can't withstand those prison bars.
Happy ending? It's insinuated, though I hope that...more

Years ago Nike, the Greek Goddess of Strength fell for Atlas, the Titan God of Strength and was all set to free him despite the peril to her when she found out she had been played and that Nike had seduced several other guards to free himself. Enraged she burned her name on his chest and now with the fall of the Greeks she is the prisoner & Atlas returns the favor, branding her on her butt.

Along time ago Atlas was thrown in prison, forgotten, to rot for all eternity. And in his need to be free he had sworn that he will do everything. Everything. That includes seducing Nike ( Goddess of Strength) , one of his guards, using her obvious affection of him. Blind with love, Nike arranged his escape only to find out that he had seduced several other female guards.
When she realized that she had, indeed, been used she'd marked him permanently, with her name on his chest.

A good short story that includes a few characters from the Lords series. Nike and Atlas have some anger issues that they seem to enjoy taking out on each other. Both have wronged the other by conquering and imprisoning each other and then forcibly tatooing their names onto each other. Atlas ups the ante by seducing Nike to get her to free him, horribly crushing her spirit and self-esteem in the prossess. It seems however the ruse was a ruse because he actually really likes her-this seriously bro...more
I liked this story, even though it wasn't about the Lords. Reyes makes a cameo so I can't complain.
I did like the chemistry between Nike and Atlas. I felt bad for them, I just wanted them to be happy. Anyway, it's hard to write a review that's not a synopsis because it's so short.
I do tire of the Sienna drama though. I think it is getting old. Honestly, I don't even feel like she's a real threat. Technically, she shouldn't even be in the picture for at least another few centuries. The Lords ha...more

Some things that have unfolded from the beginning of the Lords of the Underworld series was the fact that the Titan gods have taken over the heavens from the Greek gods. For centuries the Greeks had ruled while they had kept the Titans prisoner. Recently that has all changed when the Titans were able to free themselves and battle to power. The two in this story have had their roles reversed due to this power switch and it was a very interesting read.

Oh dear.
I actually quite like the Lords of the Underworld series so I do feel a bit mean for giving it only one star, but I really did not like this.
I have to be in the right kind of mood for Paranormal Romance as a general rule. In the mood for having even the simplest of plot lines spoon fed to me like a three year old. In the mood to roll my eyes so many times per minute at the cheesy dialogue and predictable plot devices to make people wonder if I'm having some kind of seizure.

This a short story, inbetween Lords of the Underworld novels. In fact, set around a romance between Atlas the Titan God of Strength, and Nike, his Greek counterpart (Greek Goddess of Strength).

Wow! I really enjoyed this one! Nike, the Greek goddess of Strength, and Atlas, the Titan god of Strength are enemies that fall in love. Showalter packed a lot of story in a small package. I have read all of the LOTU series and thoroughly enjoyed this one. We get a small glimpse of Reyes, and Cronus behaving badly. This is a must read for fans of the Underworld Lords!!This short story is part of the Lords of the Underworld series, but it can be read independently.
I give it 2 1/2 stars. If they don't meet up with the Lords, well the way it... I'm sure they will and I hope it'll be soon. I'm trying really hard not to rush thought these books, but I'm anticipating Gibson and Paris-Gibson due to his lies and talking "backward", I'm thinking it'll be funny and Paris...poor Paris. The loneliness he must feel. Yes he has his friends, but we all want that special someone to share our lives with, so you know...it's hard not to skip plot building novellas.
This is a short and steamy novella that gives us a glimpse of the Titans and Greeks that watch over the Lords of the Underworld.
While predictable, Ms. Showalter writes yet another beautiful story of unlikely lovers fated to be together. I must admit I tire of the soul-mate theme so common in Showalter's books. But I still enjoy her writing and her romances from beginning to end.
I'm excited to continue with this series!
