Willow Gregory wakes up hungover in a strange man's bed wearing only her "Miss Firecracker" sash. Apparently she got a little rowdy the night before and damaged the bar after drinking too many cherry bombs to celebrate the end of her unwanted reign as Miss Firecraker. Blake West is filling in as the bartender at his buddy's bar while he is on vacation. He is the ultimate Mr. Nice Guy so he put the drunk Willow to bed alone despite her propositions. He informs her when she wake...more

Another Ravenous, Zealous, Tale from the Astounding Lorelei James!

Willow Gregory woke up in Blake West's bed with absolutely no recollection of what transpired the night before. Especially the part of the night where she miraculously threw off her clothes, since they're hanging from the ceiling fan. She's harboring a nasty hangover, & completely nekkid to boot!

Blake West being a complete gentleman, never took advantage of the nekkid ex-beauty queen lounging in his bed.

Even though the he swea...more

It's Lorelei James, it's a Fourth of July Story, it's got sexy Blake West, and it's got a female carpenter turned reluctant beauty queen. You just can't go wrong with this as a short novella. Rough Rider fans know Blake as a cousin to the sexy McKays--Blake shows up in Colt's book Branded by Trouble to provide a little competition for India. And since Blake was attracted to the non-traditional India, we know he goes for a spunky unconventional woman. And he gets one when he takes a stint bartend...more

This is another book in the McKay / West line up by Ms. James. Ms. James has written another winner, as far as I’m concerned. With her talent for hot scenes and intriguing plots. She weaves a wonderful story. I love her characters, Blake West has been displaced by recent events in his life and is now just trying to find where he belongs. I enjoyed Blake’s good guy/ boy scout persona, but I felt he was oh so much better when he let loose. Willow Gregory is hot tempered, petite, and good with her...more

I love the McKay and West men but I was extremely interested in Blake. I finally get to read his story and it wasn't what I thought it would be.

Tough as nails carpenter Willow Gregory has spent the last year crowned Miss Firecracker, after a joke gone awry at her cost. Ready to shed the title, she parties it up a little too much waking up but naked, with the exception of her sash, with a man finding humor at her current condition.

Blake West is not quite sure to make of the woman who tore up the bar he is watching for a friend last night, but he knows one thing he will have time to get to since she will be working as a waitress to cover...more

The Wild West Boys series doesnt have the depth that the Rough Riders (McKays) series does but I still enjoyed this story. After reading Branded for Trouble, it was nice to read about McKay cousin Blake West finding love away from Sundance, WY. This is a quick read, jam-packed with lots of hot chemistry. My only issue was that ending was a bit abrupt which left me wanting an epilogue on Blake and Willow's HEA. Knowing Lorelei James theres another West relative or friend (maybe Dave?) lurking aro...more

Yummy, Blake West, all that blonde West-man out there, you can understand why Willow didn't stand a chance when she laid eyes on him!!!! So we know Blake from Sundance, and now that his dad sold the farm, he heads out to help a buddy and has his bar messed up by drunken lady who ends up naked in his bed. Of course, gentlemen Blake didn't take advantage, but most definitely lets her know he is interested. 24 hours later, sparks are flying, problem is, she thinks he is a passing through bartender...more

This is a nice story. Fun, playful, romantic. It is not especially memorable or unique but it does have some really vivid moments and I enjoyed it. After reading more than 20 Lorelei James books, I am used to to the typically father prototype and I enjoyed that Big Kenny, Willow's father, kicked that to the curb with his professional wrestler meets ZZ Top image. I would be scared to death if he was after me. Talk about papa bear. It was great to see Blake get a story and I am glad it wasn't burd...more

I’m enjoying these novellas of Ms. James’ that are offshoots of her McKay family series. These Wild West boys are cousins to their infamous counterparts. The stories are shorter, of course, and that leaves no time for for those misunderstandings that are always so prevalent in romance books. In this series, a reader gets to the meat of things quickly, gets some good lovin’ while learning about the relationship along with the characters, and a happily ever after is that much more straightforward...more

Cute, hot, 95 page novella from Lorelei James about former sheep rancher Blake West (and one of the Rough Riders McKay cousins) and carpenter/construction company foreman, beauty pageant winner (Miss Firecracker) Willow Gregory. Dimpled, 6'3", blond haired, muscular Blake's between jobs deciding what he wants to do with his life since his dad sold their sheep ranch for oodles of money. He's got time on his hands and money in the bank for the first time in his life so he decides to help his Nebra...more

Nice story. Lots of references to characters we know from the Rough Riders series, which is nice. We knew just a little bit about Blake from the RR series, but this is his own book and gives us a much better idea of him.

Willow is a great character. Lots of depth there. My only frustration was that this book was too short. I wasn't ready for it to end.

Lorelei James is great. Once you read one of her books you can't seem to stop, or at least I can't.

Just short and sweet and will add more when i have more time.
I've been dying to know Blake's story when he kept popping up in Rough Riders.

At the start if the book I wasn't feeling into it... But by the middle I LOVED IT! He is just something else!

and Willow! Who doesn't love a hot chick who can do manly things?

I thought they were adorable together!

and will never ever look at marichino cherry's the same way again! lol

This is book 2 of the Wild West Boys series by Lorelei James but it is also connected to the Rough Riders series. In reading order this one falls after book 6.5 Strong Silent Type.
This is the story of Willow and Blake West.
Blake is managing is buddies bar in Nebraska for a week. One night Willow the former Miss Firecracker gets drunk in the bar and then there is an altercation and Willow has to pay for the damages. It's set up that she will work in the bar untold its paid. Willow and Blake have...more

I loved this book except that it really was so good it should have been much longer. She had some great characters to work with so I'm not sure why she didn't carry it out. I would have liked to have seen a true ending to this one. I loved that when there was a misunderstanding, the heroine was outspoken enough to ask the question that would get it resolved quickly.
I will never look at a maraschino cherry the same way again:-)

These are way shorter than the McKay series, but the writing is just as good. These seem to be more sex packed less story than the other ones. Still good. I love that you still get to find out little tid bits about the other characters even from the other books like India and why Blake asked her out in the First place.

2 stars - Just didn't do much for me. Blake sort of straddled the line between alpha and beta and there's nothing I like less than indecision. Willow and Blake didn't have any chemistry in my opinion.

I have to say, it's hard to believe that Ms James writes the Rough Rider series also, which I love.
Spoiler Whore drops the F bomb
I really really really fell for Blake West! He is such a sweetie pie and love the chemistry between him and Willow. He was such a nice change from his manwhoring MacKay cousins...not that there's anything wrong with them but I really really really fell for Blake.

As always Lorelei wrote a fantastic novel. It was a over a little soon for me and didn't have the girth of the McKay Boys books but I love Boy Scout Blake and hope we get to see more of the much tamer West Boys.
Samantha
This was my favorite of the wild west boys. The story was great but very little interaction with the family which is one the thing that make the whole rough rider books some of my favorite

Great little smoking hot short from Ms. James. I think this author is so good she could spice up even the phone book! LOL

So happy to read about Blake, especially after what happened with India...he deserves a hot firecracker!

Lorelei James has the hottest cowboys. This one is a cousin of the infamous McKays.

I really enjoyed this story. Really good fun and hot! I loved that Blake finally got a girl of his own. I really felt for him after the disasterous date with India.
It was short and sweet and a nice compliment to the Rough Rider series.

A bit about me: When I'm not squirreled away behind my laptop writing fun, sexy, contemporary erotic romances set in the modern day Wild West, I can be found reading everything under the sun, practicing yoga until I’m a pretzel, shootin' my .22, watching the Professional Bull Riders tour on Versus, and running a kid's taxi service, all in the guise of avoiding housework and rustlin' up vittles.
