Panigyri by Alison Cadbury is not really a travel book but more along the lines of a travel memoir. Memories of a Greece that while not altogether gone, is receding into history with all due haste. Ms. Cadbury probably said it better than I ever could have when she writes:

This book has it all! History, religion, folklore - it's like an island primer but presented in an interesting, respectful, and entertaining format...leaves you wanting to book a trip asap...
