This is a solid Three Stars. And I'm going to break it down by what I didn't like, and what I did like. Overall all, though, would I buy it again? Yes. Will I buy the sequel? Yes.
The story begins on a date between Anica and Jasper where Anica finds out that Jasper lied to her in order to begin dating her; he comes after her and in haste she curses him. Unfortunately as a witch the spell cannot harm another and as a result she loses her powers. Jasper must find a way to counter the spell while r...more
I’m a little conflicted with this book. Though I will admit to actually enjoying this book, there were a few choices the characters made that I just wasn’t buying. With that said I still thought it was a cute and interesting story and did love witnessing the growth of both main characters.
When Anica gets upset with her date she impulsively changes him into a cat. But by invoking an ancient spell, Anica loses her magic and finds there is no clear cut counter spell. Relying on her sister Lily, and...more

After reading Mary Janice Davidson's "Undead & Unwed," I thought Vicki's witch collection would be an exciting change of pace from my frequent vampire obsessions. I want to start off by thanking Vicki for "Blonde With A Wand" book 1, "Chick With A Charm" book 2, and an autographed postcard featuring the cover art for both novels.
Typically if I am reading a book I am so set in my ways that if after the first chapter doesn't hold my attention I discard the novel and don't look back. It took m...more

Anica is a fairly straightlaced witch who, after discovering her new boyfriend is a bit of a jerk, impulsively turns him into a cat. As a result she loses her powers for breaking magical law and spends the rest of the book attempting to return him to human form. Jasper, her boyfriend, eventually can become a man for short periods of time and much rumpy pumpy ensues.
Not my favorite Vicki Lewis Thompson book.

This book is brilliant! I had a very hard time putting it down when I had things in the real world to do. This book is loaded with humor that kept me laughing thoughtout the book.
Few *spoilers* below
Ancia puts a spell on Jasper and turns him in to a cat, they both have an adventure together trying to change him back into a man. In the mean time he changes back in forth between man to cat, he has to learn how to cope with life as a cat this is where the fun part comes in. Imagine if you were a...more

Blonde with a Wand has helped me rediscover my love of light and funny paranormal romance. It’s what first pulled me to the genre. It is reminiscent of Playing with Fire by Gena Showalter. That is a very good comparison considering Playing with Fire is my fav para romance one of them at least.

I'm a sucker for about any kind of magical book, this one was no exception! I enjoyed it, laughed out loud and felt our main characters pain at the choices they had made and had to make at the end of the book. Very much a fairy tale, happy ending kind of book.
I liked the setting that the writer created, the names of the places where the main character Anica worked and where her sister worked were very charming. She gave a small taste of the magical world Anica was born into. I thought that was...more

The three-week-old relationship between Jasper Danes, commodities trader and ladies man extraordinaire, and Anica Revere, sexy witch, seems to be going well until an unpleasant secret about Jasper comes to light and Anica, in a fit of pique, breaks a major rule and turns him into a cat. Now Jasper is stuck that way and Anica has lost her magic. The two will have to work together to keep Jasper safe and figure out a way to reverse the spell and restore Anica's magic.

Nothing like having a guy make you so mad that you invoke an ancient curse to turn him into a cat and on top of that, it makes you lose your magical abilities. Anica is a witch and Jasper is the cat...ummm man that she has been dating. They were really good together and it was interesting to see them and their relationship evolve.

This book was hot, no doubt and more of a 3.5 stars than just a 3. I found the premise to be very interesting and I like way Ms.Thompson carried it out for the most part. It was good to see Anica Revere, a witch, loosen up and let her bad girl out. It wasn't so good for Jasper Danes in the beginning, but it worked out in the end. The only thing that didn't really click for me was the way Anica and Jasper fell into bed. It was like one minute Jasper was thinking of ways to get revenge for Anica t...more
Hot, sexy, funny, entertainingly wicked, super cute read. Filled with a few little life lessons, hot steamy sex, and a whole lot of magic. Anica is not known to lose her temper, but Jasper Danes has just pushed her to the limit. With one spell she has changed both their lives forever. Wanting nothing more than to be rid of him, Anica has now made them attached more than ever. Gone with Jaspers human body, is Anica's magic. With the help of her sister Anica tries to reverse the spell and get her...more
While it's formulaic in the manner of most romances (where the outcome is, predictably, a romance), it delved into the growth of the characters far more than most. It wasn't about the setting or the actions as much as it was about the people involved. Both of the main characters saw significant personal growth and stretching of their limitations and prejudices throughout the story.

I really enjoyed this one. A quick read that made me want to immediately start the next in the duology.
I liked that BOTH characters made changes and learnt about each other and themselves during the story. So often it's one or the other, so it was nice to read something where both protagonists realise something about themselves.
Not much by way of information for the 'world' it's based in, but I guess if you're reading a 'witchy' book you pretty much know what to expect as far as rules go. Ultima...more

I’m going to give this book a five star rating because I haven’t read a romantic comedy that’s made me laugh out loud in such a long time. I love both the main characters, Orion, the sister, and everything about this book. The characters are so likeable, and the story was easy to read.
I read this book on my camping trip up to Yosemite, and I LOL’ed at the part where Jasper (while still in cat form) was slowly typing a message with his paws to Anica. LOLOL WTF.

Blonde With a Wand was such a fun read! I found myself not wanting to put this book down because I just HAD to know what was going to happen next!
The story was interesting and just plain funny. The characters are believable and very likeable. The book itself has all the makings of a good story: interesting plot, likeable characters, a dilemma, steamy scenes, sacrifice, and a happy ending.

This was a really cute story. It’s about this witch named Anica who happens to like dating human men versus warlocks. Well she has been dating this guy, Jasper, for three weeks now and really likes him. Tonight is the night and everything is going smoothly, now she just needs to tell him her secret…However before Anica can figure out how she runs into the Ex-girlfriend! She tells her things that Anica is now questioning about her knew beau. Anica confronts Jasper about what she has heard. He tel...more
It was cute. Took a little bit to get going, and there really weren't many surprises, as far as the plot went, but it was funny and made for a couple of entertaining nights of light reading.
I'm calling it a sort of Beauty and the Beast with a twist. The hero (Jasper) is transformed (into a handsome black cat, but we won't quibble about the type of beast ;) ) by the heroine (Anica) and someone has to figure out how to break the spell. As it starts to be solved, Jasper gains a few hours of human f...more

Fun and breezy! That's what I would call Blonde With A Wand. Plenty of hilarious slapstick moments to make you chuckle out loud. Jasper the cat searching for answers in an entirely human way was one of those hilarious moments. Let's just say I'm glad my cats have never done that. As far as I know!

I really wish I could give 1/2 stars too. I would put this at 4 1/2. I like saving the 5 stars for books like the Hunger Games which make me think and grip me.
that being said... This book is soo much fun! I knew I liked Vicki Lewis Thompson, but I forgot how much fun her romances are. Throw in the paranormal, and I'm hooked.

Anica Revere is three weeks into a great relationship with Jasper Danes, and it's clear he wants to move things to the next level. But there's one problem - he doesn't yet know she's a witch. When they are out to dinner and she runs into his ex-girlfriend, though, Anica loses her temper and blasts him with a transformation spell. The cat is finally out of the bag - literally! Some women think men are dogs. To Anica Revere, Jasper Danes is more of a tomcat. At least he is after she turns him into one. Anica just happens to be a witch, and though she generally tells the men she’s dating her magical heritage before they get too deeply involved, she makes an exception with Jasper. But in the midst of a bad fight, by-the-book Anica makes a very big mistake and uses an an...more

Anica Revere is a witch, she has a rule about not getting involved with a man before telling him she's a witch. She has been dating Jasper Danes, and has decided it's time to tell him she's a witch. Before she has that opportunity, Anica and Jasper get into an argument over his break-up with the woman he dated before Anica.
Anica breaks an even bigger rule when she casts a spell on Jasper that turns him into a cat and strips her of her magic.

Really cute and amusing. Two people who got stuck together because of lies told and tempers lost. The neighbor, Edna, I'd have probably clubbed with a bat if I were either character. I mean, how dare she take SOMEONE ELSE'S pet... to get them fixed? I realize she's a huge man-hating old lady, but geez. Lay the fuck off. I think one of my fav relationships to watch, was really between Jasper and Orion. So cute how he befriends Anica's cat.
This was a quick, fun read. Who wouldn't want magical powers, especially if it could be used to turn a dud of a date into a cat? For such a lighthearted "fluff" book, the author did a great job of making the reader care about the characters, who actually evolved more than some authors can manage in a 600 page book!
I can't wait to read about Lily in the next book. She's a hoot!

Firstly, I loved the cover.
Secondly, I adored the story. A witch that accidentally turns her boyfriend into a cat before she reveals to him her most coveted secret? I'm in! It was funny, it was sparkly, it was light. Perfect if you want to read a romance to take your mind off matters.
Seriously, if you like witch-themed books, this one's a keeper!

“Too bad you don't have cable. We could test him by putting him in front of ESPN with a bowl of beer and a package of Cheez-Its."
Jasper hissed his disapproval.
Anica laughed softly. "I don't think he appreciates your stereotyping him like that."
"Oh, bite me Jasper."
It was a tempting thought.
Lily stood. "Enough of this. Let's raid your closet and find us some hot dancing duds." She continued down the hall.
Jasper glared after her. Lily was so wrong about him. He didn't like Cheez-Its. Onion rings went way better with beer.”
