I was highly anticipating reviewing God's Greatest Gift picture book. As Chat With Vera readers must know, I am an avid fan of children's picture books. I think they are beautiful and wonderful learning/teaching tools. The real beauty, though, lies in the beauty and glow of a child's rapt attention as they absorb the book like a feast for their eyes. And as this eye-feast is devoured, their minds are absorbing the message the text is conveying. That is why I am so profoundly disappointed in this ...more

God’s Greatest Gift (written and illustrated by Deborah Burch) is a Christian hardback book that illustrates to children that they are blessings from God.

The aesthetics of this book are charming. Lively, colorful drawings and the playful font (curly-Q’s, and dotting the letter i with a flower) are unique and inviting.

What is God's greatest gift? The people we love.

This book, perfect for reading with children snuggled around you, tells those little ones that they are your greatest gifts.

The art-work grabs your eyes, and your imagination.
Rich, golden sun pouring down on green hills.
Running horses in a herd.
The earth, turning in space.
Hot cocoa with marshmallows swimming in a mug, red ladybugs and pink butterflies.
All of these dance across the pages, each one a gift.

Yet we'll all agree... the best gift
